Greetings Hive! This is my second entry for the Splinterlands Art Contest Week 279.
For this week, I chose the BlackMoor Nymph!

Reference Card

After taking a look at the reference card, I thought of looking for other references, but I did not find anything that I liked.

The Blackmoor Nymph though reminds me a Philippine local mythical creature we call "diwata" or "engkato". This is also akin to "elves". Nymphs are forest creatures. Thus I let my imagination (and my hand to take it course when I started drawing.

Equipment and App

  • Huawei 10-inch Tablet
  • Huawei Gen 2 M-Pencil stylus
  • Medibang Paint for Mobile

The Process

I started sketching a few days ago. However, I scratched my first few sketches and this morning I decided to go for this pose. I did not bother to look at the reference card again.

I know in this scketch the nymph is completely naked. She is covered with living vines and leaves though.
I usually start with a rough sketch, then convert that layer to blue.

Coloring and Adding Details

I gave her normal flesh skin but with green hair, I also added the vines covering her body. I used various custom brushes in adding the leaves. However, since the pen is pressure sensitive, the Pen(sharp) brush of Medibang paint creates a leaf shape on short strokes.

I decided to add some clothes, but covering her upper body would render the two hours I spent adding the details of the leaves and vines useless. So I decided to keep only the cloth on her lower body.

Adding the Background and More Details

I already have some "bush" brushes in Medibang Paint so adding the bushes is not that hard. I used the Acrylic brush to pain the tree. This brush gives an uneven dark and light shade texture.

Final Output

Somehow, I end up with a dark scene again just like in my previous entry.

This is it for now. Thanks for reading.
