After All These Years On Splinterlands...

sunday night daily questin'.png

I've got to admit, I'm getting burnt out!

Over the past few years, I've invested a lot of time, energy and personal money into this game and have always thought, this was the true representation of what a Web3 game should be.

I have to admit though, the past few weeks I've been very concerned about how things have been progressing.

Not so much that I don't believe in Splinterlands long term, I do. I still do and think it's a fantastic game on a players level...If you are 'at' a certain level lol

I've just been getting burnt out....

In 2022, one of my goals was to hit 1 million SPT tokens, and I recently achieved that. But now I'm asking myself....Is there a future in SPT?

I haven't heard a peep about it for quite a while now, and think it's safe to say the team's focus is on a lot more 'important' things, rather than SPT and the Splintertalk front end.

Sad really, cause if it ever takes off, I'll look like a genius for accumulating it over 2022 LOL

But back to being burnt out....

This season, I've barely played any matches or daily focuses at all. This is rare for me, as I always get to a high Gold or low Diamond level each season. And it's not because of the rewards or lack of them, I'm just....Blah lol

Am I alone in thinking this way?

I was very excited for Runi but I don't see that getting into the game soon, unless they announced it recently?

The Riftwatchers release shadowed the fact that there is still so many packs of Chaos left...And with all the burning going on, it's almost like the team is trying to get through all these extra packs so they can release the next set.

Lux Vega has been fun, and I'm still holding my Waka summoner from earlier in the year....But what about Land?

Is that coming?

So many questions but here's the big one....

When is player staking coming?

One of the promises of SPS was the ability to stake on players which if you know anything about gaming would change...Everything about this game. It would open us up to huge markets and I think bring huge excitement to Splinterlands...

Has there been any news about it?

That's the game changer to me...Not new card sets, pack burns, Ethereum projects, none of that will help grow this game more than player staking in my opinion.

For now....

I'm on 'sit and wait' mode lol I'll keep stacking my SPS and growing my stake. But it'll be much more passive now, especially with all the projects we've got going on in CTP.

But back to the question at hand...

How do you feel about the future of Splinterlands?

I honestly don't feel that good about the future right now, and haven't felt good about it for at least 6months now.
"And with all the burning going on, it's almost like the team is trying to get through all these extra packs so they can release the next set."

They are... Yet the untamed version had half the packs available at half the price and was the edition for almost 2 years.
it really changed my outlook once I started seeing more and more products appearing over the last year. More direct-to-market sales to capture the after-market values on high level cards...
I swear things changed last year and the focus changed from growth and game design into how much money the splinterlands team could suck from the community. I don't like it at all.
Especially the Land... How long ago was that sale? How far behind are they? How many new releases and products are they coming up with?
They recieved a lot of money selling land with the expectation that we would have something by now. A damn pixelated bugged out program would be something. We don't even have that.
How do they justify creating a new massive project like a tower game??

Anyways, I don't feel good about it. I don't feel good about my investment.
I have stopped playing the game because simply... without the rewards... face it - it sucks...
Bots galore, annoying losses. Absolutely zero gameplay changes since the beginning. it's boring.
I expected more after 4years, 100+ million in funding, and constant current sales.
Basically just holding and hoping the team actually does what they promised... it's crypto tho, plan accordingly

Rewards seemed to be getting stingy to me too so I haven't been playing at all. I should start to enter some guild battles. Speaking for myself, I don't really like the direction they're taking with the game either. I think too much, too fast can be a bad thing as well. I get what they're doing, but at times it almost feels like a money grab. However, I've been playing since close to the start, so maybe it's just me and my perception of things.

Me too. Joined early in beta edition and have been with ever since.
That could effect my perspective. Things grow, remembering how they "were" sometimes effects how you feel about the current state of things.
But this current state sure don't feel good.

I just want to see some of these promises being implemented within a decent timeline.
Splinterlands has some serious potential and the community backing to really do some great things.

The potential for greatness is definitely there if they play their cards right. I guess we'll see soon enough. The game changes frequently enough and they keep it interesting. Maybe it will take a turn in a better direction. I do commend them on their development through each crypto winter. Maybe it is just branching out too fast or in too many directions at once.

I've got a lot invested for sure, and just love the game so much...But it just feels like something needs to change. I still think the biggest win they can have will be plyer staking...No idea if that's even on their timeline right now.

I have been making it to Gold 1 each season lately. I think end of year spreadsheets and value checking will be an eye opener.
Enjoying Lux Vega and the new Riftwatchers cards.
The actual game play has turned around and now I don't see as many level 1 summoners as I did a season or two ago.
I think most everything out there is a bot. Just playing card owners cards.
Probably time to get my deck up to full Silver to not take as many penalties on each payout.
When Jon gets tired does that mean bottom of the market?

They announced in yesturdays Town Hall that Runi will get connected sometimes next week, but could be delayed.

When Nate talked about land yesturday I became very excited and I think, mostly based on the latter, that SPL has a bright future🤓

Hang in there mate, maybe your "live of SPL" has been put on delay, but you will get there.

I am positive, the way you feel now is just a mechanism that comes with a terrible bear market unfortunately...

  • Collectively we will all be pessimists in this kind of market, until we are not❤️

Cheers, see you in the battles!

I still think Splinterlands will do well but you can always just set it to auto battle or rent for you. I would do that and leave enough energy left so you can still play if you want. Splinterlands is very time consuming and I also find it tough sometimes to play late at night.

I might really take a look at that, not sure if I help the game that way, but I might do that just to step away for a bit and let my account have some fun lol

It's always better to have your assets work for you then to let it sit there. There are options and a portion of your earnings would also go to the service. However, it does earn you something and you have to do less work.

I believe what people have been expressing in the comment section and the tone of your post should be noted. The company handled last year poorly, to say the least. The good thing is there's a LOT of room for growth in 2023, after 2022, if they start focusing (not necessarily in price, but why not?).
