Splinterlands: Tactics, Games & Counter-Strategies

This is one of my most tactical battle in splinterlands thus far. Firstly, it was a battle where the rule of the game allowed for Monsters of 4 mana and below where allowed to be used. Firstly I don't like this rules, neither do I like the rules where monsters are poisoned or take two hit damage after each round. Although these rules are meant for players to master playing in different conditions.

That's basically adding a sort of unfair but existing reality to a part of the game. The only difference is that this time, the rules are meant to work for all parties. This creates a certain level of equality, depending on the quality of deck of the opponents. The disparity in the richness of deck can still create an unfair advantage, even if the rule appears to be fair, but this again isn't an uncontrollable factor, it's a kind of divide that can be breached by having skin in the game (pun intended).


The Danger Of Sneak Attacks


This game was purely tactical and I was happy. In reality, I was hoping the opponent didn't come up with a sneak monster. A sneak monster does absolute damage especially when you play a non-attacking frontline, using neutral monsters. What neutral Monsters does is to fill up space, soak in pressure and allow your other attacking cards to deliver the blows to your opponent. But if your opponent decide to come up with sneak monsters when you choose to play neutral monsters, you might be lucky you take them out first before they take out your back line.

Sometimes some elements have non-attacking cards that soaks up pressure really well and allow the back line does the job, one of them in the death element is the RIFTWING, it has the flying ability and dodges sometimes attack. Another of its ability is that every time it scavenges, it adds plus one to it's health making it almost indestructible against Monsters with low attack.


It's quite a steal for 4 mana having it on the battlefield where you don't have sneak monsters. Then you're good to go. In this game with 15 mana I played the furious chicken, the RIFTWING, the death elemental and the life Sapper Thaddius Brood was the summoner. This was a 15 mana battle and using this summoner will help reduce the life force of the opponent, while taking away -1 of their magic attack (that's of the health and the magic attack is above 1).

This made sense because it was a low mana-ed game. I was thinking this was the best approach. Although using the fire element was a possibility, the Tarsa as the summoner would add plus one melee attack. At the end of the battle, the riftwing ended up soaking all the pressure, allowing my Sapper and elemental to deal magic blows. It was a tactic that turned out well.


In the grand scheme of things?


.......I did anticipate the outcome quite well I don't own the elemental probably because it isn't CL. however it's available for me to use, although I can decide to buy it, but the collection power it brings is incredibly low, so I might not spend that extra $3. The speed is incredible, and I've lost in many games where it's come to one on one battle with the life sapper another incredible death magic card. Overall, if everyone could anticipate the tactics of their opponents I guess it'll become the battle of wits as to who is a batter tactician. Having a stronger deck will also go a long way.


Of course


....In real life situations, I can be a voracious spender, this isn't on excessively shopping things that brings no fruition. Sometimes I make very risky investment choices, knowing that they're risky and there's a 50/50 chances of failure, what I do is buy food commodities that will soak up the hunger pressure. This means I'll have to stop eating out, no more KFC or Mr Biggs. Hunger is real, and probably one of the human needs that have no workaround.

The only way to actually invest in other venture, without tampering with your initial plans, is to spend on what you might need earlier which takes hunger off the table making it possible for you to invest in what you intended. In relativity, I used mana 4 on the riftwing to soak in attacks, while using my other two magic Monsters to do the things I actually wanted. This translates to the fact that sometimes, we don't have to risk exposure, we can already take care of things that will become financial challenges especially when we know we'd face financial obstacles ahead.

Interesting comparison of your experience on the battlefield to life. We get educated along our ways in life don't we?

Thank you, of course, I like to document my Splinterlands experience, it's learnt a lot along the way. Although im still in bronze one looking to break into silver III. Opening more packs will help me do so.

I haven't really used riftwing much but the scavenger ability isn't that bad. Personally I try to put in a monster with thorns in front if I can for any little league matches. It just seems to be more likely that the opponent will have a decent amount of melee monsters.

Riftwing is great especially against melee monsters without sneak abilities. I use thorn monsters too, but in small mana games it's hard to fit in so little.

The thorns monster for the little league requires you to level up your summoners so it's a bit tough.

We are using almost the same strategy for this rule set, splinterlands requires mastering and understanding possible cards your opponents might use too..
