Splinterlands: Talking Pack Surprise & Season Rewards

So I was totally devastated that I moved from x9 rewards to x7 and finally got x7 for my "end of the season's rewards" but that's not all, the rewards were actually disappointing. My thoughts were that the season reward are being distributed based on the highest level one gets and not their current level. I do not know the pro and cons to this, but I basically got to bronze I and I didn't have enough collection power to get into Silver III, but then I lost a lot and dropped back to bronze II.

I never worried because I felt my season rewards we're still going to be x9 but I was totally wrong. However, I think I got about 19 credits all together, one alchemy and legendary potion each then a VENARI heatsmith. Wasn't the most encouraging, I heard that players now get packs as rewards, and I was hoping I could get some, but then I think it's meant for players in the higher leagues.

It's been long I opened any packs and this is because I didn't have enough potions. I liked this because it takes away the temptation of opening the packs. However, I felt it was time to open a few of the packs after such a long while. So I proceeded to buy some potions and then decided to open 5 packs out of my remaining 90 packs. The plan all along has been to grow my collection power when I open the packs, (at least 5 packs once in a months).

So I decided that the only way is to buy limited potions that could only open 5 packs, of course, I'll earn some of these potions along the way coupled with the ones I'll buy. Which means accumulating and buying potions along the way helps keep me in check from opening the whole pack at once. I think opening 5 packs in 12 months would be like 60 packs opened, but my plan is to at least have 50 packs to sell when the packs are all sold out in the market.

A Pleasant Surprise

However, these five packs opened turned out good, I know I didn't get a GFL whatsoever, bought I got a death legendary and a gold level two epic Dax Paragon, I got a couple of other epics and rares but they weren't as exciting, monetary wise as these two cards. However, they're good utility cards. They're good for playing and serve their purpose.

These two cards are probably the biggest returns since I've been opening the packs. Getting a gold level two card even if it's not a legendary is quite exciting, it's not like it's my first gold card, I've gotten gold cards in almost all the elements. One of my most exciting gold card. is the gold cursed windeku and my gold pelacor bandit, I once got an $18 gold card when I opened one of the packs from the presales and I sold it off to buy more DEC and I never regretted it.

The whole packs I opened

I bought a Dr Blight, shortly back then, but being a new player, it couldn't help me play, so I sold it off and made about $20 profits on it which I bought some DEC with. However, this hasn't come without it's dips as well (because I wouldn't refer to them as losses)I've gotten just one legendary before now, I bought a Djinn Oshannus at $39, the value has pummeled thus far to about $6.

I've bought some cards which have pummeled in prices, but some cards have overly maintained their value and one of them is the serpentine spy. Overall, I will definitely open more packs, but I'm happy to accumulate some potions along the line. My target for the end of the year is to have at least 25k collection power, but I believe I'll eventually be buying more packs at least, especially if I sold any card from the packs.

Setting Targets

I'll keep hoping to break through the higher leagues at the least get to silver I before the end of the year and surpass that. Some many changes have been happening to Splinterlands lately. I must admit the monetary aspect is overcoming the gaming aspect itself, but I guess this is probably an incentive to keep people who would bring in the money in the system and keep the overall system brimming with value after all, the main incentive is the money. I guess with time, more gaming aspects can be introduced. Keep everyone happy at the same time is a huge deal.

Prices have been such a mess, I also don't understand what happened with Djinn Oshannus, I still use it in most battles with the water splinter, not sure why it got dumped so hard.

I don't know why it dumped so hard too, maybe it was because the game is actually changing. I own one and the way it dumped scared me.

I was able to almost max it out, it feels like a useful card, so let's view it as a positive lol

Thank you, of course, I'm riding it out, I'm trying as much as possible to build slowly, since I don't have a look of resources at my disposal. Thanks Man for everything.

The prices have dropped due to the supply of cards increasing and I know it sucks because the fiat value of my cards also dropped. DEC-wise, the drop in Oshannus is only like 20-30% so I don't think it's too bad.

Oh I think the dump was actually huge, from 39$ to $6. I think we'd begin to see a balance after the sellout, I mean hopefully.

Yea but I think DEC price back then was like 5x what it is now. So the drop itself wasn't as bad as you think if you look at it in DEC terms.

For the packs, you actually need to be Silver 3 at least to receive them. The droprate is 0,25% and it increases by 0,25% for every leagues - so Silver 2 is 0,5%, gold 3 is 1% and so on. Golden Dax Paragon is crazy, it's such a powerful card at level 2!

Oh thanks you for the info, I didn't know one needs to be in silver III to actually get them. I was thinking it's for all the leagues. Yeah the DAX is actually crazy. Hopefully soon I can get a GFL.

Wow even the legendaries are holding their value in this storm!
🙁
I bought several of the Oshianous and I am bummed it’s value along with the amount of the rent has fallen.😔

I think my gold cards are my best rental, so I plan to focus on gold reward cards. 🙂

The game is fun, but it’s hard to ignore the many positive economic aspects of the game.

I hope the recent Waka Glaka event brings more publicity to the game.
