Splinterlands: Talking Streaks & The Sense Of Limitation Tied To Your Collection Power

Winning.... Oppps Lost

The Splinterland season is about 12 hours to come to an end and this is the stage where players suddenly finding the winning mentality to push past the myriad of competition to move up in the leagues, due to the fear of falling lower. I try as much as possible to do my business early on in the league, sometimes I see myself winning 7 games on the bounce, collecting the subsequent DEC earned and winning my daily quest in the process, while sometimes I lose 5 games on a roll tanking me further below.

Sometimes I realize we need luck to win sometimes. Have you ever played a game where you're sure of winning until it comes to the last card, and you see that your opponent own the same card as you with a healing ability, and you're now reliant on the fatigue of their card to decide the game that you were actually positive you'd win in the first place?

How about when you've almost won the game, but the last card of your opponents turns out to be a flying monster that can evade attacks? So even if your last card has more health and the two attacks are evenly matched, you're left to actually lose because of your opponents last card's ability to evade attack?

Things like this can tank the winning mentality of a player, but how?

Sometimes, I go on a losing streak, but this isn't because I didn't select the right cards, it's almost due to a last second situation where I could have positioned my cards even better so in this situation I lose because I didn't get the right positioning. Sometimes the last loss might influence my next choice of element and card and this is because playing on a bounce for a long time makes you master the tactics of the set of players you've played on a bounce with for let's say 3 to 4 hours of non-stop gaming.

Inasmuch as the last game cannot determine the tactics for the next game due to game rules and all that. Sometimes there are game rules that are irrelevant to your element selection for example, a game rule like. "all melee and range hits their target", you can still go ahead to play your daily quest, While following some particular game rules

However, one's mentality can sometimes alter their tactics. The confidence gained from winning 10 games on a bounce can make a player audacious, they can keep going for guile and style rather than being cautious and this is because they feel they've come a long way on a winning streak and nothing is about to bring them down. Also, this is the same with having a losing mentality.

People who have lost let's say 7 games on a bounce, they tend to study the tactics of their last match, mirroring the tactics of their previous opponents to see if they can get it right. Sometimes we try to predict the element and lineup of a prospective player, based on the rules of the gameplay and the elements available for selection.

However this might be difficult to do especially when your confidence is low, and you're trying to avoid the next defeat rather than thinking of winning. So losing or winning streaks can often affect selection which can bring further streaks.

Goals, CL & Motivation

Nevertheless, having a goal in mind can impact one's mentality all together. For example, I have Just under 7000 collection power and owning 90 packs means if I open at least 40 I might have enough packs to get into Silver III another option would be to rent in order to get enough collection power to actually climb into Silver III and earn that prestigious x12 reward.

However, renting is out of the table and this is because I've spent a lot acquiring 117 packs and the goal is the open 50% of the packs for collection power, maybe if I was lucky, I could get a GFL along the way that I could maybe sell and reinvest them into more packs and 50%.

The mentality is to always get to bronze one where my collection power can carry me and when I get there, the zeal to win more automatically dies because no matter how hard I try, I wouldn't still be able to break into silver III.

Incentivized & Eager To Go

I know this because when I haven't gotten enough power to break into bronze 1, I find it difficult to even play to get there, but getting that collection power means I get to have more cards to play with and a new cause to actually fight for. Truth is, Mentality is why some people are either motivated or demotivated.

Incentivizing players who actually play constantly would bring a certain level of motivation, these players eventually becomes better, and the game gets a lot of people playing. It's always a win-win situation. In another aspect, I've been knocked back into Bronze II despite going on a mad streak immediately I got into Bronze I. However I later discover that the issue with collection power demotivated me, and I was knocked back into Bronze I.

I felt I had gotten to my peak and my highest point and pushing further was futile. There's nothing as demotivating as feeling that you've gotten to your peak, while this feels rather bizarre, the truth is, it's predominant in players. So I still have my x9 reward, and we begin again in the upcoming season.

It can be tough and I think everyone besides the topmost players all have losing streaks. Sometimes I don't skip the fight entirely and watch the matches. Then I see that I lost a match or two because the enemy dodged an attack and it was the deciding factor. Fortunately fatigue matches are quite rare so I don't feel that tired due to them.

Yeah that deciding factor can be painful. It could be because of a healing ability and the opponent dodging an attack. It can actually be very painful though. I play a lot of games that ends up being decided by fatigue of the cards.

Hahaha trust me, splinterlands is like being studying medicine and chemical engineering at the same time. Trust me, if you want to learn, you can especially when you put in time and effort, plus money. However if you're ready to play and have the funds to buy your spell book and maybe money for some other cards, then I'll just show u the basics.
