Splinterlands: The Money Strategy VS Soulbound Value

Screenshot_20230513_024444_Chrome-01.jpeg

This season on splinterlands has been the most difficult, it's now likely that I'll never be able to get to 40 chests, after my calculations, the best I can do before the season ends is 35 and that'll be 7 chests short of my last campaign, that's if I ever get to 35 as I'm currently in 29.

With just over two days to go. It's been another abysmal outing in my guild, with me winning one game and losing 6 fray battles. In the seven games, I faced a quora towershead twice and one Gladius card in all the games.

In the matches I could have won, the opponents locked my strongest deck, because they know that if I had that (water) element available, I'd still tear them apart even if they came with gladius cards.

But they found a way to lock my water deck and made me unable to use it

This hurt a lot, but, it's the competition. The people with more money get to pay for such features as this and even have the chance of taking a look at your potential lineup before you put them out there.

But fray battles in the guild are the wild wild west. There are no restrictions, no limits, and no holds barred. In fact, it's like the informal format of ranked battles.

Here, you're given the opportunities to win at all costs provided that is what you want at a particular cost, and seeing these guys come out with their massive gladius lineup alright scares you before the beginning of the battle.

The abilities of these cards are just so good

.....before the second or third round, the battle is done and you're o as I have this season both in my fray and ranked battles. This is because of the dynamics of the game that's changed once more.

It takes time to adjust to the dynamics and come up with a winnable strategy. On this occasion, I don't think there's a winnable strategy against the Gladius cards. In this period, it's just classic "join them, if you can't beat them".

Of course, I already predicted that having gladius cards in ranked battles was going to change winnable strategies. This prompted me to join a guild because that was the only way I could stay competitive.

You know, it's good for players to own non-tradable assets

.......one that money cannot buy, but it becomes super queer when you invest in tradable assets only for you to be defeated with that cards that actually costs nothing to buy.

Although the value for owning these Gladius cards is gotten from the success and utility or your tradable assets, at the same time, splinterlands are trying to say "join guilds" without telling people to actually join a guild.

I feel that when these beasts are unleashed in the ranked battles. The only option for the competition was to actually join a Guild and begin to fight to own one's personal deck of unbeatable cards.

Have you seen the Quora in a single match?

dude is virtually unbeatable, not by a kron, not by anything

It can take out an entire lineup and still keep waxing strong and just imagine that one of the most formidable cards in the game is actually not Purchasable and had to be gotten or owned by earning merits points.

It feels like an asset that the value is increasing and still goes for $0.00. If the Quora was thrown into the market, the maxed-out card could easily be going for $10,000 and people will still pay to have it. It's the beauty of the game.

However, I like the fact that even financial skin in the game doesn't give you all the resources you want to keep winning.

A way Forward?

So once again, I've been defeated by these guys again in my fray and I have been wondering what I need to do to increase my winning ratio and point as well. I cannot afford to lose again in the manner which 've lost this season.

However, I managed to also open a Gladius pack. Nothing is exciting in the content again, except for two epics. I'm gradually taking the win as I know it'll be hard to fully grow a Gladius deck overnight. I'm taking it slowly because I want to seriously help my guild members to win more and I want to help myself to keep winning.

Again, I've gotten 1.55k Merits and 15.5 staked SPS. The grind continues and I hope I can do better this time.

Has your guild considered locking Quora from your opponent's lineup? I believe you can do so when one of your builds is high enough level.

I don't think they've considered that. I mean the Quora is detrimental to probably we, the new guild players. I'm not sure it does the same for others, I can't tell, but that would be a good idea. Probably because we grind more towards individualism and everyone makes effort to beat their opponent on their own.

Yea, but there is a guild feature if you got the buildings high enough and it affects the entire guild. We banned Quora on the other side and it only takes into effect when your guild is the host of the battle.

I'll have to talk to the guys then, I think it's something we can work out to see how we can do that. I think you all saw the Quora as the biggest threat and decided to ban it accordingly.

Quora is easy to beat, you need to use affliction to stop the heal and thorns/magic reflect - Death splinter

Hahaha that's true, but I don't have that firepower yet. Maybe in the future, I will.

No. They are cheap and easy. Haunted Spirit or windeku or both. A djinn Murat. And Undead archer level 1. That’s all. With the archer, you may even win with normal cards. Poison helps too.

The season has been very tough for me as well, I am doubtful of attaining my 50 season chests target.

We get those bad days in Brawls and especially if you are just starting out, your performance will get better over time. Study your gladiators, they are key to winning battles and placing them rightly.
Good luck getting your first Quora, it will come and I can imagine the smile on your face when it does.

Hahaha you even have hope of getting to at least 45. I've been so battered and beaten, getting to 35 would be a miracle. I got my strategy very wrongly and I shouldn't have approached the season the way I did. I should have stayed in silver till maybe 3 days till the end of the season. I'll be hoping for that Quora, I think I'll have to wait a very long time.

We can try locking Quora, she is one hell of a card! Eventually we will be able to lock 2 cards but that’s a ways away for our guild lol. I got lucky and got a Quora in one of my packs a while back. It’s a relief when you finally get one! It would be sweet to get a gold foil one lol

Keep up the battles and building though man! It’s a good grind and you’ll get paid off in the long run!

Haha I don't want to seem like a freeloader, I'm just desperate to win more battles and help the Guild rank better, it's so dissapointing that I've not met my own expectations. I hope to get the Quora someday lol. One hell of a beast.

Considering we have a couple people with 0 points, you’re far from a Freeloader man! Lol. Don’t worry you’ll get there!

Thank you, because it was beginning to feel so frustrating for me loosing those fray battles indeed. I'll just have to keep grinding.

I love your analysis about this game, I just can't imagine how hard the game will continue to be as you continue to get deeper in the game

I did not join the brawls and I don't know why maybe because of my result this season but I will definitely join the next one.

We must keep pushing and keep getting better, let see how next season will be but definitely be better than this.

Well, there's always an opportunity to join the next brawl. I think there are close to 4 to 5 brawls in a season.
