Splinterlands: The Value Prospects & Money Incentivization

Splinterlands has become quite difficult to play since the end of last season it's now tougher to leave from one tier of the league to another tier and the major reason for this is people are becoming better with their investment, the in-game value of a card, it's utility and how it can take a player far.

I must say that most untamed cards have maintained great value thus far even after the inception of chaos legion cards. For example, a living Lava at $7 still maintains great in-game value and dollar value, even if the next generation of chaos legion cards came.

I'm not sure there's any fire splinter from CL at a higher or lower price that can maintain the monstrosity and solidity of the living Lava, this is why I'll still prefer most untamed cards to Chaos legion.

Getting Utilty On Limited Budget

Although I'll have to say that Chaos legion cards helped so many splinterland newbies start especially if they didn't have enough money. I spent about $500 buying and opening packs.

I bought about 117 packs and I still have 33 to open. CL packs have utility, for example, the golden psychic can heal itself while healing a unicorn mustang at the forefront, even if it's vulnerable to an opportunity monster like the serpentine spy. It's not like another untamed card cannot do this.

The difference is that a CL card will do this for even cheaper. Sometimes I felt like CL cards are like some Redmi devices, that will do a little bit of everything and not specifically master one thing.

Maintaining Untamed Value

This is because new players would go for utility. CL cards bring that utility for even far lesser prices. For example, while I was starting out, I bought some great cards like the sandworm and the Djinn Oshannus, at the behest of @joetunex I think I bought the former for about $5.

I cannot remember, while the latter for about $30, overtime, the Djin Oshannus has dipped in dollar value, but the in-game value remains legendary, the sandworm itself, a neutral monster is more than lethal.

it's Melee attack type can be increased when a fire summoner like Tarsa Calls it, it gets increased health and an added melee attack, making it even deadlier, with speed it's only weakness.

Difficulties Of Competing

I also bought a card like the water elemental a range monster with great speed and healing abilities and when combined with the AXE MASTER's double range strike, the force is formidable indeed.

So while the value of some untamed cards has dipped in value, the concentration and solidity they bring are unmatchable by some CL cards. great in-game investment, despite a constant decline in dollar value for quite a while now.

As I was saying, in the beginning, the game is becoming difficult to play even at the lowest tier and this is because of the lucrativeness of the rewards lately. Every day, new strategies are born and players are committed to finding cheaper ways to win, this hunger itself is what gives splinterlands the extrinsic value it possesses.

My Thoughts On SPS

The SPS airdrop is coming to an end and we have about 22 days to go. There was a time I was getting 18 SPS per day, this wasn't intentional as the DEC I had then was majorly meant to buy CL PACKS, faster forward to today, I only get 5.8 SPS on a daily, (this used to be 6.2 as at a week ago) and I started over 4 months after the inception of the airdrop.

My splinterlands' experience has been exciting because I'm planning to increase the level of some of my cards when the drop is over, I kind of like how I'm talking in-game economics and money analysis, and this is because I've taken the time to learn a lot in the past 10 months.

Generally, I feel a few people will sell some of their SPS rather than outrightly staking everything and this is because, some people would want to spend some harvest of over one year airdrop, just to have a feel of how it is.

I agree with you, lot harder to climb the leaderboard this season. The bots are figuring out some decent combinations! But also, you need to be in the Level 1 tier in your league. I have been playing Gold III, upped to Gold II today - but I can already see, sooner rather than later, I really will need to move into Gold I!

Yeah, these combinations are crazy, it was like harder to predict or mirror them and due to this, it was difficult to beat them, I know I'll surely figure something out in subsequent seasons but at the moment, I still find them harder to beat. Thanks for coming through.

That is why coming up against you guys in Silver leagues can be a pain, you throw in monsters of these kind at opponents and get them wiped out. Silver or Bronze league is the last place I wish to play in, you guys are brutal.

Yeah I jump in on some Legendary at the top price, crazy how they have dip but on the other hand it was mainly deck building approach for me.

Hahaha the truth is that it isn't even the cost of the lineup these guys put up. I have to admit that sometimes I beat or annahilate the strongest of competitions, but get beaten mercilessly by a cheap lineup arranged by a bot. The smaller leagues knows how to do these things hahaha.

Playing in Gold or Diamond and go play in Silver is or Bronze is like an old soccer play with knowledge and skills whose peak has passed against young and energetic players. I save myself the headache and rather take the beating or give out beating in Gold league

One day, I'll have enough resources to play in Gold and diamond, I think I've amassed enough experience already playing in the lower leagues, although it's been rewarding thus far

It's definitely harder to climb the leaderboards and I have found myself losing more to the bots. It just looks like the strategy I have been using might need some work but I am still able to get a decent amount of chests.

I think like you, I have to also work on my strategies it's absolutely worked for me before this season, but now I can't even string 5 winning streak at the moment.

I'm having a hard time winning anything. I only get a few focus points because I have only a few alpha cards and CL cards. I haven't gotten near a chest yet lol. That's ok for me but I think the learning curve for brand new players is way to high and they have to invest a lot to just earn anythings. I think this will push splinter towards being solely a niche game. Probably good for the game but bad for onboarding new players that stick

It takes time, the learning curve might be easier than we know. 10 months ago I knew nothing about splinterlands but I had to learn through the ropes.
