Splinterlands: Tweaking Your Efforts Actively Or Passively?

I've been playing splinterlands a lot lately and there's been this issue of some players loving the new reward system and some others hating it. The new system was tailored to bring in more playing time, for more rewards. On the surface, this feels thrilling.

I mean the excitement of not having your rewards being capped to a league can feel unfair and giving people more rewards for their playing time seemed like a "win-win" situation.

Instead of people reaching their maximum league by playing only a handful of games and winning big with their daily quests by playing 5 games alone.

Big Money; Big Sentiment

However this isn't in contention anymore, many players have been there, they've given their feedback and most of the similarities in the feedback is that the efforts aren't worth the rewards. I wish we can ask the bots because, throughout the farming experiences, I think the new reward system has encouraged more usage of bots because hey"! The promise of money can be overlying exciting especially when you've invested a lot.

Listen, there's this entitlement sentiment that comes with being a big investor. When one has invested a lot of money into a venture, they're going to try hard to squeeze the system, because they believe their money is on the line and making it back with the profits is inevitable.

Prepping For The Big Bang

This isn't meant to vilify anyone, this is human nature when it comes to money, it's difficult to place a difference between passion and greed because the end game to these two is money/reward. deep down, everyone wants to double or triple their money, and sometimes, people want to be comfortable while doing it.

One of the reasons why splinterlands will remain a big bang is because of its huge success in late 2020 and early 2021, I mean it's proven that it can make people financially free if it can hold its own, and due to this people are going to employ different tactics and means to make sure they establish a great standing during the next big bang!.

The Bot Competition

This is why the game is competitive. Sometimes when I hear people quarrel and argue that the game is difficult due to bot dominance, it makes me wonder if they expect to face no competition in the quest to get more rewards? What if they're primed to be in the pole position or had the resources to squeeze the system for more rewards, wouldn't they do that?

The thing is, if they had that equal purchasing power, they'll do the same without question. The downside here is that Splinterlands is firstly a game, but the attention is money driven. So which comes first? The passion for the game or the prospects of the rewards? This is rhetorical because it's like asking whether it's the chicken or the egg that came first.

The Focus On Value & Retention

I cannot understand the reason for the bot economy I mean... The reason for having it in the first place is the cost of running it. It's short and long-term benefit for the game and the players, I mean does the advantage overshadows the disadvantages and vice versa.

All these are questions that need to be asked because I feel that the goal should be on long-term retention of value and minimal satisfaction on gamers/investors irrespective of their skin in the game because the game itself cannot satisfy the emotional expectation of people on a financial level.

In reality, this kind of check is very good. It's great to question the decisions inculcated into the game because there's always room for improvement.

Passively Earning; Maximizing Time & Effort

Questioning these decisions doesn't mean one wants to quit, we just need to understand why people... Investors choose to passively earn with splinterlands when the right way was to actively earn, now we're back to where we began.

The major reason is that when one is a big investor, they aim to make money by putting their money where their mouth is. I believe everyone that's actively or passively involved with splinterlands is playing the role in uplifting the game, one way or another.

I think the bot system enhances the rental market and taking it away completely might make a dent where we might not expect it to, this is why everything is entwined. Nevertheless, this is why a balance is required.

One of the biggest challenge for Splinterlands is constantly having to deal with bots, this is causing frequent changes and adjustments to the game, it is something we will have to deal with considering this space where there are always some that a focused at exploiting the system.

Well, it's like I've written. People who feel they've invested hugely would be looking to squeeze the system to see if they can make back their money and earn huge profit, at the moment the disadvantages of the bot feels more than the advantages at the moment

There are advantages and disadvantages to everything. Without the bots, we wouldn't have a fast match making system. It also helps out the rental market but it can also destroy the economy. If most of the rewards are dumped, it just doesn't make the cards have that much more value.

I don't know why people complain about bot, if I know how to use it I will definitely try it. Splinterlands allows it and is so profitable. If is playing and spending more time is what we comfortable with in maximize our profit we should stick with it. At the end what matters is the profit

(Edited)

I am bot neutral (never used one). Objectively I recognize the importance they play in dapp and DAU rankings and they are the heart of the card rental market. If the card rental market dies then so will card asset prices. I feel like a lot of people are emotional when it comes to bots such that they completely ignore this obvious correlation.

Well the rental market is important because it gives value to tn rental market, I believe the argument that's plausible is that it's taking away the active aspect of the game and making it more passive
