The Disparity Between Soulbound Cards & Their Summoners. (In-game Vs Dollar Value)

Last season's reward on splinterlands was one of the most underwhelming I've ever gotten. I was expecting at least a pack and some epic or even a decent level one legendary card (soulbound) since I was earning gold chests, but I didn't get any. However, on my third day into the new season, I got about 1.3 SPS and a pack in my daily focus chest.

Deep down, I felt this wasn't coincidental. The reason is that I felt this was compensation for not getting a pack in my "end of the season's reward" last season. Since I started earning gold chests, my chances of getting a pack have increased and this is the second time I'm earning a pack in my daily focus if I finish the previous season without getting a pack in any of the chests.

Pattern To The Reward

I don't know if it's just me. But I think I've come to understand and study the in-game and economic phenomenon of splinterlands to some extent. I think there's always a pattern if you look well. Every season I've gotten an underwhelming season's reward, and the next season's daily focus reward is mostly better, sometimes, when the daily focus rewards turn out to be very good, the season's reward is always underwhelming. However, I don't know if it's just me.

I shuttle between silver and gold leagues and I'm used to having my daily focus reward fluctuate all the time. I made a post about my last season's reward, while I was not completely disappointed, I wasn't so pumped up about the reward.

Luck can be exciting

My daily focus for the past two days has been totally different. I mean, different in a very good way of course. I got a rare dragon summoner. Now I'm not really certain if I am going to use this summoner. The abilities just don't excite me in any way.

This might be because I've been reluctant to use them (The new soulbound summoners) or probably because I haven't found a way to come to terms with building a strategy with the monotonous ability that comes with all these summoners. That is, allowing the use of one additional gladiator card in battle. To me, this isn't much of a deal breaker. Most of these summoners either come with a -2 SPEED ability or -2 SHIELD or probably +1 SPEED and then it adds the gladiator ability.

Soulbound Summoners: Anything Exciting?

So I'm very much skeptical about these summoners as they do not really have any spark to them. However, maybe this is the modus operandi of soulbound summoners, or Maybe the people who play in the bigger leagues are having it better than me.

This HELOIS MATRIACH with "6 mana" doesn't seem to be worth the mana especially when you're playing a low-profile game and need all the firepower to muster. However, let's focus on the good side. I got a pack in my daily focus. Now, this hasn't happened before, I'm used to getting legendaries in my daily focus, but not pack.

Pack: Open, Keep Or Sell?

However, my biggest mistake was opening this one instead of listing and selling it and maybe using the money to buy something better. However, I was relying on the element of luck to probably give me something mouthwatering.

Maybe a good epic card, or who knows, maybe a legendary or a GFL, I guess I sacrificed that element of luck for something certain and it's not turned out very well. The content of the pack has been average, just like the last one I opened as well. So, if I get another one, maybe I'll sell it instead, or keep it.

Some Magic Is Worth The Value

That wasn't the only thing as well. I got a legendary card with one of my favorite abilities in the game. It's a magic death card, called SKOK DUSKBLIGHT I tested it in a game and saw how it gave the magic ability to non-attacking cards like the RIFTWING, it was astonishing.

I think the soulbound cards come with some interesting spark to them so much that for a minute, the abilities takes you away and make you forget they only have in-game value for now. I'm currently liking the way I'm being surprised with every daily focus reward I'm opening. This particular death card might just be one of my favorite cards in the game, especially in high-profile/mana games. I haven't developed a lot of strategies in my death element, I think it's time I begin to do so.

I think the soulbound cards/rewards have certainly added a new element into the game. I do think you are right that over the long run, the algorithm for rewards should give us all an equal amount. If that is the reality or not, I have no idea.

I don't know if they plan to make soulbound cards tradable in the future, but I'm hearing rumors that there are some exciting plans for the soulbound cards. The rewards have certainly brought a different element to the game, a different vibe.

The soul bound rewards are quite interesting but you won't be able to sell them for a long time. As for the rewards, I think it's just luck. I don't really see any notable increase in rewards for having a bad season because I have had a few bad seasons back to back.

I've had such lucks, although, maybe I'm the only one who's taking notice, but I just think I get better rewards after having terrible ones.
