Joining The HIVE Community - Journey from Nurse to Content Creator

avatar

Hi Fam! My name is Josie and I recently joined the HIVE community. This is my Introduction Post! I hope this post will help me meet new people and make new connections!

I made my First Post without introducing myself, and am super thankful for @lovesniper and @anggreklestari from the @OCD team for commenting and letting me know how important an Introduction Post is! Also a big thank you to @stever82 and @tipu for curating my first post!

With all that said, this is me:

WHO I AM

My name is Josie. I am half Korean (mom's side) and half Puerto Rican (dad's side). From my ethnicity, some of you probably already guessed correctly - YES I grew up in a military family. I was actually born in Germany when my parents were stationed there for a few years! While a lot of my life was moving around from place to place, I spent a majority of my teenage into adult life in the Northern Virginia area. FYI there is a big difference between Northern Virginia (near Washington DC) and the rest of Virginia. Although I'm from all over, if you ask me a generic, "where are you from?", I'll likely say DC. I have two sisters, one of which is my twin! We are best friends even though I've moved to Texas now. I am married and we have one very cute 6-month old named Levi. My family is that reason I've started my journey in content creation!

JOURNEY TO CONTENT CREATION

I graduated with a degree in nursing! That's where my career first started. I started with a smaller clinic working in the urology department, and then worked my way to the ICU at a large Level 1 trauma hospital. After a couple years working as a nurse, I met my husband, Wayne, playing in an Ultimate Frisbee league. He is a Chemical engineer, and had to move to Texas for work soon after we met. When he FINALLY proposed, I left my family in Virginia to move down to Texas. There, I worked a few stints as a travel ICU nurse, but also knew that long-term, I did not want to be a bed side nurse. My husband and I developed an incredible community at the local church where we lived, and I was asked to be the Director for our Young Adults ministry. I wasn't ready to give up my nursing career at that time, so I said I would work part-time as an ICU nurse while also working full time as the Director. That was just a little too much. If anyone has worked in ministry before, the job, while rewarding, is way more than a 40hr per week job. During this high-stress time, my husband and I were trying to start a family, and we finally found out I was pregnant in October 2019! In November of 2019, I had a miscarriage, and we lost the baby we were so excited for. From there, it was an incredibly tough recovery, and I found my passion and joy through building a community of women to help in their journey through pregnancy and into motherhood. I wanted to reach a broader audience, so I launched my Webpage, YouTube Channel - Josephine Huang, and Instagram account all focused on growing in motherhood.

That's where content creation started for me! With my husband's support, I was able to leave my 9-5 job to focus on recovery, reducing stress, and pursuing my passion in content creation. Fast forward to November of 2020, my husband and I found out that I was pregnant again!

Our baby boy Levi was born in July of 2021, and is growing up fast. My goal is to create a career from content creation - one that allows me to be a full time mom #motherhood AND have a fulfilling career. I want to be able to replace my husband's full-time income so that he is able to spend more time with our family. That's my WHY.

WHY HERE?

HIVE and PEAKD are both very new to me. My husband and I stumbled upon the concept of Play2Earn and NFT Gaming fairly recently and started to do a little research. When I came upon #Splinterlands, I was addicted! I loved the game and loved the community surrounding the game. The founders, developers, and players all share the same vision of making the game the best in the Play2Earn space. I've just started my YouTube channel for Crypto Gaming (JosiePlaysCrypto), and want to be plugged into the community. You'll see from me weekly videos related to Splinterlands and/or Crypto Gaming in general. In addition to all that, I think the concept of PEAKD is amazing. It transforms how Social Media is run and perceived. I love it and want to play a bigger part in it!

REQUEST

If any of my story relates to you, I would love to connect. My goal is to connect and create a community. Whether it's because we both love Splinterlands, or you have a story to share similar to mine, there is strength when people come together. I'm still new to PEAKD and have not had the chance to explore all the nooks quite yet, so if there are communities and/or users you think I'd be interested in, feel free to comment and let me know!

Welcome. It's so nice to see things taking shape around here on Hive. Your story is a good example. Started with a game, now exploring other avenues and projects on Hive. It's kind of weird to show up and just start talking business but it has always fascinated me. How someone can build on Hive then inject that product directly into a shared market. One project's success spills over onto the next. I dunno. I just like that.

Good luck here. Enjoy your stay.

Welcome to the Hive community @josieb!
We sincerely hope you find everything you are looking for and have found a new home here.

Seven suggestions to consider:

  1. Guard your passwords carefully, and publish and do everything except Wallet with the Posting key
  2. Use your Active key only for wallet transactions, Keychain, Hivesigner, and Peaklock,
  3. The Owner key and the Master password are only used to reset compromised passwords,
  4. DO NOT lose your passwords; but copy and store them offline in a safe place,
  5. Do not publish other people's work, be it photos or written, without credit, and be sure to source all of your work, even if it is your own.
  6. An introduceyourself tag is used only once, and
  7. Do Not click on any links in memos or comments that you do not know who they belong to. If it sounds too good to be true it probably is, so the old saying goes. There is nothing free here.

I found you because @brittandjosie and @jamerussell from @heyhaveyamet presented and promoted your publication to get more exposure and help you grow faster.

If you find yourself overwhelmed and need some guidance, or if you have any questions, there are informed Hiveans available who can help you; you can click to go to The Terminal in Discord here:

Thank you!! I'm so glad you enjoyed it! Does "!PIZZA" mean anything??? Other than the fact that it's my favorite food!

@josieb, sorry! You need more to stake more $PIZZA to use this command.

The minimum requirement is 20.0 PIZZA staked.

More $PIZZA is available from Hive-Engine or Tribaldex

If you staked enough PIZZA token on Hive-Engine (another great site running on the HIVE blockchain) you can write the ! PIZZA command a couple times a day and give people free PIZZA tokens 😃🍕
