Splinterlands Art Contest Week 269! | DJINN APPRENTICE 3D ART ON SKETCHUP

Hi there Splinterlanders and Aliens it has been several months since i last posted here on hive there stuffs like work and all that hinders my availability in this platform ill share some of my life experiences and plans for the next few weeks even tho i am not that relevant and my story might not interest you. anyway! i chose Djinn Apprentice as my subject for this week's splinterlands art contest and by the way before i start sharing the process,actually i was planning to submit this entry for the 268th week but i didn't made it in time so that's that and without further delay I'll share some of the process;

Drawing Process

Well for the materials i used; the software are Sketchup Pro 2023 version & Adobe Photoshop, i also use my 2 year-old XP-Pen artist 12 hopefully i can save up so i could by a bigger screen tablet.

Actually the process is simple but needed some analyzation to create a figure or character in sketchup because this software is most commonly use for architectural purposes like interior 3d designs for house and building perspectives. firstly i import the image reference so that it is easier to craft or create a box head style of art because irregular shapes and realistic ones could take weeks or months if you really wanted a more realistic 3D on sketchup. I was actually planning to learn blender but i sticked with this software because i mostly use this on my actual job and i was just curious if i used this opportunity to create a unique approach this time which is fairly different from what i usually do which is painting in photoshop.

My art inspiration for this is actually an old game which i usually enjoy during my highschool days which is in the mid of 2000s a game called Box Head in Y8 if you can relate to that just simple graphics of characters with box head styles anyway the drawing process i will share is down below;

I start by importing the image reference then start drawing a box which will be the head of Djinn Apprentice

This is the raw head with facial features also the headband

Then i started putting colors in it via chaos cosmos which is built-in or extension textures and materials app in sketchup via vray.

Then working with the body which is much harder than creating the head.I have a lot of trial and error in this particular part.

Then i put a sun-like figure on top of Djinn's palm and some rocks or boulders around him which i download of 3d Sketchup Warehouse. I also design a somewhat lava-like box shaped land or platform where Djinn Apprentice is standing on.

Then putting some letters for the final touch and process in 3d design.

Now i started rendering using vray render which is 3k pixels and set at high quality i think it almost took an hour for it to finish rendering as i don't have that much high specs in my PC built.

The final process is after rendering i adjusted the brightness and contrast in photoshop at 50. Thanks for reading and viewing my art until next time Aliens!
