Axemaster Saves the Day

 

Everyone has a favourite card or two and I understand this probably changes somewhat frequently, especially when new card sets release, but there's always that one you keep coming back to that helps win matches and save the day. At the moment mine is the Axemaster from the water element. So let's take a look at him.

 

There's currently only eight characters that have double strike at the moment, ten if you include the two Gladius cards. Out of those eight, only four of them have a ranged attack and the best two in my opinion are Axemaster and the Pelacor Arbalest, both with two damage.

 

When you compare these two cards at their base stats, Axemaster is faster by two and has three more health points. Use him with Kelya Frendul for an extra point of speed and one point of armour and you have yourself a fast killer! Sure you can get an extra damage point with the Arbalest when summoning with General Sloan, but with only two points of damage and no armour, the Arbalest is a glass canon that's going to get sniped or taken out with an opportunity attack early on. Even a Blast attack nearby could threaten it.

 
So in my opinion the Axemaster is where's it's at, there's no doubt, and I've got a few battles below for you to see what I'm talking about. Sure he needs a bit of protection from sneak attacks or dropping into that redundant front position that all ranged cards face, unless of course the Close Range ruleset's in play, but you'll not regret taking the Axemaster to battle with you, he will almost certainly save the day!
