KULU SWIMHUNTER BATTLE CHALLENGE

Battle Restrictions

This was a fairly decent mana cap that was going to be completely negated by the Little League ruleset, where only monsters and summoners that cost 4 Mana or less may be used in battles. That's no problem though and with the Explosive Weaponry ruleset where all monsters have the Blast ability, I wanted some speed. Again, no problem, we're going with the water element.

Battle Lineup

First of all the summoner had to be my level four Kelya Frendul. It needed to be the water element because I wanted that speed and extra armour that Kelya gives, and I needed to use the Kulu Swimhunter. I had an option to go Dragon here and select the water element as well, but it wouldn't have got me that extra armour, (I wouldn't have had the speed either but then Quix would have given the other team minus one speed).

When Little League is in play, I nearly always go with my level four Xenith Monk in my lineup, usually at the front. Granted, he doesn't have a great attack but that heal can be so useful and keep him in play the entire match. Very worth while, sporting a impressive health of seven for only four mana.

My next choice was my level five Cruel Sethropod. It was not going to be able to attack in this position but it has great armour (five) with Kelya as its summoner and would soak up all of that Blast damage that would have taken out most other monsters in this position. If the Monk fell early then maybe it would get a few hits in as well.

My level three Uraeus was part one of my Sneak strategy. I love the fact it has a small amount of armour as well. With the addition of Blast it was going to hopefully smash its way through the rear ranks of my enemy and do some damage with its two attack and four speed.

I wasn't sure about this position and nearly used my Merdaali Guardian as a healer to boost the Monk. But I changed my mind at the last moment and went with my level one Naga Windmaster. This was purely for the Headwinds ability that decreases your opponents ranged attacks. If my opponent brought General Sloan along then they'd be sorely annoyed by the appearance of my Windmaster.

And now for my level five goldfoil Pelacor Bandit, part two of my Sneak strategy. Again utilising the Blast ability, with a speed of five and attack of two, it was surely going to do some damage. Flying is great for dodging as well but then I did have another monster to go and you can't dodge Blast that hits the monster next to you, so it was kind of redundant for now.

And last, we have the name of the game, my level four Kulu Swimhunter. To be fair I don't often use this card, rarely using ranged attacks as an option with the water element unless the rulesets command it. It's not bad though with two attack and six health. Add to that the summoner's bonus of speed and armour and it's fairly good for four mana in Little League. The best part of it has to be the artwork though, it looks so cool!

After Battle Report

This was a great battle and I wasn't sure which way it would go initially, fighting against a level six Alric Stormbringer is quite intimidating. I think if they'd have gone with a full magic lineup I wouldn't have stood a chance. As it was, by the middle of round two I was feeling confident. My monk was managing well and wasn't going to fall and although I'd lost my rear three, Uraeus was going to smash it out of the park for me! By round four it was done and dusted, a surprising win, but a win never the less.
