Speed Rules

Speed Rules - for instance Swiftness can make a significant difference to the outcome of a match, but also...Speed really does Rule!

So lets take a look at Swiftness seeing as I've mentioned it.

All friendly monsters have increased speed.

This not only defines turn/attack initiative but also increases your monsters chance to dodge melee and ranged attacks. Include this ability with a team that already have high speed and you're probably going to be on to a winner, especially with some of the rulesets that might be included in that match.

Here are the rulesets of a match I recently fought. As you can see it included 'Explosive Weaponry' where all monsters have the 'Blast' ability doing damage to the opponents monsters either side of the target you hit, and 'Healed Out' where you cannot heal monsters for the duration of the match.

My tactics here were simple, I wanted a team that was going to strike first. Not one or two monsters, but every single one if possible! That way I was going really maximise on that Explosive Weaponry ruleset and hopefully take out one or two opposing monsters before they even got a hit in. The Fire and Death elements aren't typically quick, but I knew there were some fast monsters in the Earth element and I had one particular monster that would help them...

Now you're obviously not going to put Brownie at the front as he'll be destroyed with one hit and remember the Exposive Weaponry ruleset is in play so you don't want him at number two position either as Blast will hit him. So he needs to go in the middle where he'll be safely buffered by the others, sure he won't be able to attack without other rulesets in play, but I was going to take that, I wanted him purely for the Swiftness. Now it was time to fill up the rest of the team...

Speed Lineup.jpg

My Venari Knifer and Regal Peryton are both at level two so their speeds are increased to 5 and 6 respectively. The Knifer has thorns which is good against any melee attack and the Peryton has Flight which will help, alongside speed, with dodging attacks.

Child of the Forest is already fast and with Snipe was hopefully going to take out a Ranged or Magic monster with low health hiding in the middle ranks. Sure he might not last long but just one attack from him could make all the difference. I was hoping for a similar effect from my Acid Shooter as well, the speed isn't quite as good as the others but Scattershot was hopefully going to hit well for me.

Lastly there is Queen Mycelia. She's as slow as they get but I was using her for that Protect buff which was going to keep my troops alive that little bit longer...fingers crossed.🤞

As it turns out it was a perfect lineup and you can watch the full battle below.
