My line up selection for this battle was made slightly easier by the Healed Out and Lost Magic rulesets. That together with the low mana cap of 14 made the decision fairly straight forward even with the choice of nearly all the splinters.
Battle Lineup
First of all the summoner had to be Mylor Crowling with thorns. I had no magic or healing to be concerned about and I was confident that those thorns would help see me through.
The first in the lineup was definitely going to be Failed Summoner. I wasn't expecting any magic but this card has a low mana cost and I was happy it would inflict at least one round of thorn damage to my opponent whilst shielding my golem from at least one attack.
Next up was the subject of this week's challenge - Stone Golem. There are better tanks out there but he is not too expensive in terms of mana and good for these low mana matches. And obviously with no risk of magic, the shield was going to protect me nicely from any melee or ranged attacks.
Brownie was a complete no brainer. At 1 mana you should always take him to these low mana matches. The swiftness skill gives all your monsters +1 speed and an increased chance at dodging attacks. With low health you need to protect him but he is a great addition.
And lastly we have the Earth Elemental. It doesn't come with any skills or a particularly great attack but for the cost of 3 mana we get a sturdy 6 health at the end of our line. This not only protects the Brownie, but also gets you some thorn retaliation on any sneak attacks.
And so there we have it. This line up got me a tidy win and just shows how deadly thorns can be when you have melee monsters arrayed against you. Stone Golem is great for the low mana battles when using the Earth splinter and his shield really does take some damage however, beware of magic attacks, that 6 health will disappear very quickly if they start firing bolts of spikey power at you!
