This weeks Battle Mage Challenge is about the Equal Opportunity rule.

Splinterlands tells us the following about the Equal Opportunity rule:

All units gain the opportunity ability which allows them to attack the unit with the lowest health on the enemy team.

Equal opportunity is rule that allows all units to attack from any position (except ranged units in the frontline). This means that melee units are generally favored since they have better stats.

We can manipulate the attack order by considering the health of our units. This is the key to this battle rule: Position and select units so that the least valuable units are those with the lowest health. The will be killed first, and the highest health unit will be ignored to the end.

Desirable Abilities

( Lookout, Martyr, Taunt )

These three abilities are particularly good in Equal Opportunity. Lookout will reduce all damage to the opportunity target by one. Use this in combination with damage reducing abilities like Shield and Void to really dampen the damage the opponents can do. Martyr is easily triggered here since units with this ability generally have low health. Finally, use Taunt to direct damage away from those low hp units if you want to include high-value low hp monsters.

Battle progress and Result

My opponent has the speed advantage, and the battle starts with their Tatiana and Supply Runner attacking and killing my Firecaller. This triggers Martyr on my Lava Launcher and Tatiana, and also triggers Enrage for my Tatiana, already bringing her to 9 speed and 6 attack. She then attacks and kills the Venari Marksrat on my opponents team, and Martyr triggers for the same units on their team, while I get a Bloodlust stack on Tatiana. The next target on my team is the Venari Marksrat, but while my opponent attacks it, I also take a bit of Blast damage to my important remaining units. My Drybone Raider uses all four of his attacks to kill the Firecaller, triggering yet another Martyr for my opponent's units.

In round 2 my Tatiana clearly has the speed advantage with her 11 speed, and attacks and kills the Supply Runner immediately. She then gains another armor which will be crucial for taking the incoming Blast damage. Next, the opponent's Tatiana kills the Venari Marksrat, giving my another Martyr on Drybone Raider and Tatiana. Another armor, great! Her second hit attempts to hit my Tatiana, but with my now 5 speed advantage and Dodge it has a low hit chance. Indeed, both that attack and the next attack from Countess Sinash miss. Next, my remaining units attack (misses) Tatiana and does some damage to the Cornealus.

Round 3 starts with my Tatiana attacking and killing the Cornealus, and then destroing the armor from the enemy Tatiana. She then attacks and kills the Lava Launcher, and blasting some damage to my Tatiana. Sinash then tries to attack Tatiana, but with 0% hit chance there is nothing to worry about. My two last units land some hits on Tatiana, bringing her down to 3 health.

Now all that could go wrong is some insane dodging from the enemy Tatiana. However, that does not happen and my units are able to clean up the match!
