Splinterlands Weekly Battle Challenge - DISINTEGRATOR!

This post is about the Weekly Battle Challenge with DISINTEGRATOR!!!!!!!

I really love this neutral monster in the Splinterlands lineup. Last I showcased a strategy where I used this with Wind Splinter. However, I wanted to share another battle using the Fire Splinter with DISINTEGRATOR in my lineup as I believe this monster works best with Fire. It could have easily been a Fire Monster.

Disintegrator is one of the best neutral monsters in any lineup, especially in battles that are Melee attack heavy. For example, many times when playing Splinterlands battles, one has to play within a set of rules, and oftentimes there are rules that give Melee attack monsters an advantage. Some of the rules are as follows -

1. Only Melee attack monsters can be used.
2. Melee attack monsters can attack from any position.
3. Melee and Range attack monsters never miss when they attack.

The above 3 rules are some examples I can think of.

Moreover, new users who play with Starter cards, have more summoners who give Melee attack monsters an advantage and even monsters with Magic attacks are generally low on health on average. There are more Monsters with Melee attacks who have sneak or opportunity abilities. Point is that Melee attacks are always in the line-up and usually more than 1 in number. Thus the DISINTEGRATOR becomes a very important card as it has the DEMORALIZE ability.

I have a level 2 card. The only difference in stats in Level 1 and Level 2 is +1 Health, therefore I have a slight advantage when using this card. Below are the enhancements in stats and abilities as one levels up with Disintegrator.

3. Can play with Fire, Wind, and Death Splinters

Based on my experience, Fire Splinter has some of the best odd mana monsters. In a high mana battle such as this one, one can comfortably use 5 to 7 mana monsters and combined with the right summoner, also enhance the Melee attacks. Moreover, apart from Fire Splinter, Wind Summoners are best for Melee battles. I chose to go with Fire Splinter for my battle and went for the following team -

Reason for Team Selection - Strategy

This is a High Mana Battle and only Odd mana monsters can be used. I wanted to have a strong attack for the opponent's tank and also attack the opponent's team from the rear. Fire Splinter gives that ability. My summoner helped increase the Melee attack damage by one and also boosted my monster's health by 1. 3 monsters in my lineup are attacking the tank and 2 are attacking the rear. Given that the rules do not allow for Earth and Life Splinters, I assumed that even the opponent's team will be heavy on Melee attacks. Therefore I added the DISINTEGRATOR to my team. My opponent thought the same and he too added the DISINTEGRATOR.

The set of Splinters allowed kind of made the Fire Splinter the obvious choice for anyone. I did win the battle in the end. However, it was clear that if the opponent had used a monster with armor ability at the rear, I could have lost the battle. The DISINTEGRATOR in the opponent's team did fight my strategy of attacking the opponent's rear. I was also a bit lucky in the sense that if all monsters with 2 Speed had attacked in a different arrangement, then I could have lost the battle, for example, if all monsters of the opponent's team with Speed 2 attacked before my monsters could.
