Finally my land has gotten to work!

Finally land 1.5 in Splinterlands has come out and that means like a new level in the game is unlocked and we don't know what the end game of it will be.

I was late to the party of getting land in general. With just getting one rare plot with a builder-in-a-box in there and a rare totem I still felt like I was also entering the game. Even though that is all compared to nothing to what other land owners are having and doing.

I did read the userguide in the FAQ section how on how to get the land working. But still it took me a little effort, and since I was on the road this all was done on my phone, and that doesn't make it easier at all.

But.....the grain production has started!!

Starting from the bottom

I had no idea where to begin bu I knew there was DEC involved to actually get started. Dark energy is what you need to get the workers going and I had already purchased some DEC from the time when it was cheaper so that was already good. At that time I had no idea how much DEC I actually needed, so I had just bought some and had some left over for when the price would rise. It turned out I needed all the DEC and even a bit more.

Luckily that is doable from the phone and I was ready to get going. I had already cancelled all of my rentals because I was looking on what cards I wanted to assign to the land. Luckily the dragon cards give me a +10% production and I had a lot of those that were set for putting them on the land.

This is how the line up turned out.

What I didn't know.....

So when you have the DEC and the workers it is time to get the worksite built...That takes about a week unless you use time chrystals to speed up the process. I lready had found the whole process of the land and the workers and the DEC expensive enough so I decided just to wait.

But once the worksite is finished you need the grain to get the workers going to actually harvest the grain. So you need grain to harvest the grain. With my amount of production point I needed like 16.5K grain to get going.

You can buy that 16.5K grain for 16.5K DEC but that felt like it was really expensive. Grain is not on Hive engine as yet, so I needed to just go over to the splinterlands discord channel and ask their for a bargain. Luckily buddy @blewitt hooked me up super fast and since we know each other from Hivefest I got a lot of slack from him on sending the DEC over (because again...phone...argh!!!)

Now I am making grain...but I want SPS

If you look at the chart of SPS you can see why I would want to make SPS> The price has risen like crazy over the last couple of weeks and it really pays off to have some or sell some. Also really nice to see that having the license node validator that produces SPS is finally paying off since it was so expensive. I mean...1000 SPS for 92 Hive, holy crap! That makes sense!

Now afer some reading and asking around I see that I can also turn my grain work site into an SPS harvesting spot. Even better to have would be if I had 2 plots of land, one that would harvest grain for all workers and one for harvesting SPS and sending grain from the one plot over.

So my tactic now is harvesting grain for a bit more and then taking the effort (and the week again) to make a SPS harvest in there for a while, before turning it back into a grain harvesting again.

The real question is..... How would I know how much SPS I would produce with my plot? How can I calculate this? Because then I would know when it pays off to shift over for a little bit. I know that creating a worksite costs me 16.5K grain and that x2 because going back and forth.

I have around 10.5K production points at work. How much SPS would this give me or where can I find how to calculate this?

A total new economy has been unlocked and I am liking the process!

I love the enthusiasm for the new economy and I almooooost scrolled to the end to type "PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DON'T BUY GRAIN AT 1 DEC"... but then I read about the Discord save from @blewitt and was like...

There are some good tools in Discord, especially Mav Discord if you're in there. Ask for the Calc tool or check out @axlertwinblade Land Baron tool thingy - which I haven't set up yet because I'm just a lowly ol' Grain Farmer...

It is like a whole new level was unlocked right??
Good one to ask around in the discord, not in the mavs chat because I am just a cheap ass dutchy with not enough credits for that ;)

hahah yeah, a fellow lousy farmer!!

I wouldn't be in Mav chat had I not:

A. Found Splinterlands in the Bull of 21
B. Made a lucky trade with Shib
C. Proceeded to invest WAY TOO MUCH into the game in the Bull run... oops 😩

Oh well... lol

Let me see if I can dig up that calculator for you :)

Yeahhhh a starter in the previous bulll!

I was lucky to start from hivefest 2018 with my first cards but I never went in big..always remained a small player.

I also have the question standing out about the calculation in discord but any help is ofcourse appreciated with this very juicy SPS price!

While I wait for a reply from the Mavs, I want to share some hilarious (to me) photos with you 😅

I have but a single Common CANYON Plot in Kithden (R102)...

However... I bought this $38 Plot back during the Land Hype... $700 🤢

So I told myself "No matter what happens... YOU WILL... work this land with everything you have..." at least for awhile - even if it isn't the most profitable...

I will reorg workers eventually but for until I have a significantly better option... the boyz are out here PUTTIN' IN THAT WORK!!!

untitled.gif

*Dramatization - not actual working conditions

With that being said... look at these results (and have a laugh at or with me)... because it just goes to show... with a little determination... you can go a LONG way 😅

Recipe for "success" with 1 Common CANYON Plot 🤦‍♂

Grain Farming.png

  1. Building In Box, TC's + Power Core - pre buy!!
  2. WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too much PP
  3. Why not add a Runi to your $38 Plot???
  4. Spend a STUPID amount of $$$ and go to Vegas to hang out with the Splintergang "just" to get a Title
  5. Hey we've spent this much, let's just buy a Rare Totem too!!!

Result:

Grain Farm.png

100k PP and 2k Grain/h since Hour 0 lol...

When @tehox (🐐) released the Leaderboard for Land on @splcards I was shocked and extremely tickled to see how high up the Leaderboard I was for Grain in not just my Region... BUT THE ENTIRE TERRITORY loooooooooooooooool!

👀 3rd in my Region!!

LL1.png

Wait... HOW HIGH IN THE ENTIRE Wild North East?! LMAOOO

LL2.png

23RD?!? In the whole Territory???? LOOOOOOL 💪

Anyways - I hope that adds a little chuckle to your morning and perhaps the Mavs have reminded me about the Tool I requested. If not, once I find out, I'll reply again later!

Have a great day and here's to Grain Farming Simulator 2024... I mean SplinterLANDS!

Cheers 🍻,

hahahahah you went all in on that one for sure dude!! But with this type of production on the other hand...maybe you will gain back a lot of that initial 700 and even more!

And...I really totally get the heading-to-vegas-because-why-not

That is how I ended up on hivefest 3 times all around the world hahahaa

It is a similar Idea that I got too
To produce SPS you need to pay the worker with grains.
It is the same to harvest grain from your plot.
Do you think the grain fee for harvest on two plot will be covered to generate the SPS?

depends also on what type of cards you have on there ofcourse. By me now there is little than half eaten by the workers, so if I would have an exact similar plot, it would work out with the amount of grain.

Some nice cards there. If you buy yourself another plot in the same region you can mine SPS too, roughly you need similar PP of grain to pay for one grain and one SPS (or research) plot.

It is expensive, yes! Good that you're up and running though, what region are you in..?

Im in 99 gorrondale. I know there is a lot for sale there for around 38 bucks per plot which is very reasonable. But also getting the dec again and getting nice workers on there (these are actually my best cards almost that I am not playing with) will be a bigger challenge. But on the other hand..with the price of SPS at the moment this is all really juice actually! (also extremely happy with the license node with daily juice, and did you check the price on them? Around 1600 hive per node so that is also turning out just fine)

I didnt know that the land has to be in the same region to transport the grain, so thanks for the heads up haha.

It can be tough, regular reward cards are the cheapest.

I like those nodes, I bought 5!

Nice going! It took a while before they started paying back big time, but that moment is surely now!

I saw in a post of yours that your land is pretty set and working, nice going!
