The new Splinterlands campaign getting some free cards
After scanning around in my Splinterlands account to see if there was anything to collect at the moment. Harvest the grains from the land and the iron, and also collecting the SPS from the license node I noticed something new.
A new campaign has started to raise awareness to new players on how to start playing the game. I decided to take a look and go through the whole process of how a new user would experience this.
The campaign can be found in the 'Playing' tab in the left upper corner.

How it starts
It all starts with a nice little image series where the storyline is told about what you are going to do. Graphics are nice and accessible and I guess a lot of new players will like these kinds of storylines.

Explaining a bit of the characters and getting you sucked into the lore of the game. I guess this is a good start for people to see their first venture in the Splinterlands.

The tutorial starts
Now you enter a couple of chapters, where nicely is explained on how to play and what you should do. See it as a walk though with a learning curve in there as you actually have to play a game to enhance to the next level.
Here for instance you have the explanation about the summoners and the monsters. For some reason they are called archons and units all of a sudden which I find rather confusing. The original name was good right?

After the explanation you get a battle to experiment with this. I find it clear and thorough!

Also learning something in the process
For some reason sometimes I tend to forget that ranged attackers can't attack from the first position, so this was a good reminder of that.

Now this is also something that I didn't know for all of these years. That speed decreases the accuracy of melee and ranged attacks. Of course over the years I have seen that cards 'miss' others, but I had no idea that this was because the others have more speed.

For sure I will use this in my upcoming games. Now the cool thing here was that you have to play an 'example' game to experience this, and I actually needed a couple of rounds to realize that I needed higher speed monsters than this beast.
55 of manna and pierce as you can see here down beneith. You need to do something to counter that.

So yeah, this was actually a good tutorial to freshen up some of the skills in the field again.

Free cards!
Now the cool part also of walking through this tutorial was that every time when you went through a new chapter, you also received some free cards from this process called Foundation Cards
So if you don't have a Splinterlands as yet, you can check it out right here.
When getting in campaign section, this is where you can collect the cards through playing the tutorial as you can see below in the image.
After this you have a nice starter pack to head out in to the game actually.

I have no idea how long this campaign will last or how long it has already been online, but this is actually a nice thing for new players.
Although I haven't played since the wild season was opening for free a couple of weeks back, I do like seeing these new kinds of initiatives (but I would love to see the wild season for free again!)
Give it a shot the new campaign!

A lot of free cards. Low level but some can be quite useful to fill in gaps.
That last challenge is very difficult to master.
