Chaos Legion Pre-Release Blues.

After being super hyped about the Chaos Legion pre-sale for weeks and weeks (and weeks), making preparations while fantasizing that my rental woes might soon be over, I'm feeling pretty melancholy today.

I think a lot of us are due, of course, to the voucher situation. Imagine if someone offered you a brand new Mercedes Benz for $10,000 and you get all excited about the offer but then when it's time to sign the paperwork you find out that the key to start the car has to be purchased separately and costs $50,000.

So what happened?

To me, it seems like they went overboard catering to the upper-class of elite old mega-whales at the expense of the HUGE majority of daily players. And just to be clear, I'm not hating on the whales. I love that this game rewards it's most loyal players who invested their time and money long before Splinterlands was the best P2E on any blockchain. But YEEESH-- between the crazy-ass end of season rental fortunes, daily air drops of huge amounts of SPS, the appreciation in value of their Gold Legendary Alpha cards that they bought for a penny and huge land claims, I think the whales are doing pretty alright.

Most of us just want a chance to buy packs at the same price (and quantity) a whale gets to buy packs.

Okay, so what now?

I think that's enough bellyaching. The cool thing about this game is that there are thousands and thousands of really savvy wizards playing daily and interacting with every aspect of Splinterlands. From the gameplay to the secondary markets, etc. Enough so that I am sure these wizards will create interesting solutions either through secondary markets or some other means like maybe a voucher pool or some other giant whale harpoon of an idea.

My prediction, really more of a "shoot from the hip" guess, is that by week 3 of the pre-sale, the voucher situation will be less severe. Whales will have acquired their fancy titles and gorged on packs enough to start off-loading their overflow vouchers in order to accumulate fresh coin so they can snipe Gold Foil Legendary cards as soon as they hit the secondary markets after the CL pack opening goes live. As a result, I think somewhere in week 3 maybe we'll see the voucher price down under $10.

As for me, thinking optimistically, even if I can't buy up a ton of packs in the pre-sale due to high voucher prices then I'm sure my funds will be put to good use investing in the game in new and creative ways after the pre-sale is over.

So if you, too, are a little bummed about the current voucher situation, I say CHEER UP! Keep your eyes peeled, another amazing opportunity to invest in this amazing game is surely just around the next corner.
