Greetings, everyone!

I'm sure you all had and are still having the best moments of the Easter season.

Some months ago, when I wrote about a hit track for our very own Odumeje, a Nigerian comic pastor, I received a lot of praise in the comment section, mentioning the funny and nice moments, especially the laughs that the man of God has brought to our faces with his music and his comedy show like 'Doings' in his church.

I wondered a lot if that was the only track he made because I was sure that that particular track was from an album, so I went further in search of his other songs and I was shocked beyond belief to know that he's the owner of one of the most recent lovable Igbo tunes....ALABASIDI

What do I mean by this? I once stayed in the Igbo land (Eastern part of Nigeria), and this song is played in every single shop owned by people who have music players in their shops.
Just like a play, the pastor has recorded himself in the industry among the people with good hit tracks, which is very uncommon for a pastor.

Even when I shared the video on my WhatsApp status, people came out, very surprised to know that it's Odumeje who owns the popular song...they didn't know

ABOUT THE SONG

It's a Christian song done in the typical Igbo pattern, which is normally called the Highlife type of music. It's a song rich in local beats such as drums, flutes, and sharp sounds of guitar, which have been totally replaced by modern technology used in producing beats for music.
Like I said, it's a Gospel music to praise the maker of life, but due to the way it was fashioned, I mean the beat, it's now used more for dancing in groovy parties, which is very much acceptable too. After all, praising God shouldn't be limited to only church.

The guitar sound was well mastered in; the soothing weaving of the sound, coiling up the beat, was so massive.

The flute and the drum beat weren't left out; the instrumentalists who played it did a 'magical' work.

As for the lyrics? Odumeje is not so much a singer, but hey, he has a way of weaving his talks to fall in line with the beat. That's what he did here; his talks (lyrics) blended well.

WHAT LED ME TO THIS SONG???

It was Easter night, time was at 12:30 am, I was outside in the compound, relaxing on the long bench while checking through my phone and receiving fresh breeze when my ears caught the sound of this song from a live band at some distance away from my house. It was so sweetening to the ear that I started dancing in my head.

The beats and the voice dishing out the lyrics sounded as if it's the original sound. That's the beauty of songs made with original instruments, I mean the local pattern of music; they fall into place easily in performance compared to songs made with modified beats.

It's the feeling I got that prompted me to write about this song.

Thank you for reading.

Very funny and dramatic man Odumeje lol. But you be sincere is that Igbo he's using to vibe? I love the man and also enjoyed the music but I misunderstand him most times in his style and genre of music, can't tell whether he's into odumodu or spiritual songs lol.

Your last words though.
As for me, I don't get to understand the language as well, wether they're meaningful or not.🤣

High-life is an Afro genre and Odumeje did a very powerful job in that song. I also love the fact that he is probably the first person to use this pattern of high-life for Gospel.
