The good old days with Contra Konami

avatar

Greetings, people!πŸ™Œ

When I saw this topic, I went back to the lanes of memories to see if I could pick the period in my life when I stopped gaming. I saw that my addiction to gaming stopped when I was in secondary school, when Android phones were not very common and the mobile phone games that were available to us then were Java games such as Contra, Spiderman, and the rest.

Before I went into phone gaming, there was a particular set of these games, and they were found in a VCD format. For those of you who used VCDs, you might have seen the VCD plate for games and the game pad that comes with the VCD when it's newly bought. That was when I found the best game ever, Contra Konami.
I was so addicted to this game to the extent that I was ready to collect beatings on a daily basis, and I wouldn't be shaken.

Screenshot from the game on my phone

This is it;
My dad forbids us from playing the game because, according to him, it spoils the VCD, so anytime he finds out that we played it in his absence, he doesn't fail to whoop us.

But I and my brother were smarter, we would time when he has gone to farm and return from school earlier once we notice there's electricity, to enjoy this game.

There was a day we returned early from school as usual to play the game and along the process, electricity was seized and the Game plate got stuck inside the VCD. We prayed to God for a restore of electricity before my dad comes back but God never listened to our prayers. We saw hell that day πŸ’”

When the era of VCD diminished, I switched to the Java version, which appeared sweeter and more convenient because it was done on mobile phones, and I don't need to be whooped by my dad anymore.

Why do I love the game so much?

It's an adventurous game with a series of gun fights, and I love war movies so much. The mission starts with the simplest stage, where I have to shoot at every enemy on the way, as well as dodging the enemies bullets by shooting them firstly or somersaulting in a way to deceive them.

Although we have better shooting games currently with more features in a movie-like pattern, but this $Contra Konami* was my first shooting game, and I love it so much. It brings a lot of memories whenever I remember how I enjoyed the flow in the early stages of my life.

Before I drop my keyboard, the game has a particular sound, and that sound is freaking maaaaad. That Konami sound sets your soul, body, and spirit ready for the same whenever you want to embark on the mission.

When writing this, I went online in search of this particular sound, played it, and felt the good old memories again. So sweet!

Thanks for reading.

This is my response to HiveGhana prompt

You knows what's up.

The joysticks don't last at all. So whenever they spoil,we go and borrow from people that are not using theirs
