Collector Binders are officially live in Splinterlands transforming how players showcase, personalize, and interact with their digital card collections. Rolled out during the July 2026 maintenance cycle, this major UI feature bridges the gap between tactical web3 gaming and the nostalgic, aesthetic joy of traditional tabletop card collecting. Accessible via the "Collect" icon in the top navigation bar, Binders offer a highly customizable, social album experience for every account type.

What Comes with a Binder?

Every Splinterlands user—from seasoned veterans to brand-new "lite" accounts—can claim one free Collector Binder directly from the Collect menu. Binders do not populate automatically; players must manually claim them and approve the transaction via Hive Keychain.
A standard free starter package includes:

  • 1 Custom Binder Cover & Spine
  • 3 Pages (each page containing exactly 9 card slots for a 27-card baseline capacity)
  • 1 Soulbound "Year Joined" Sticker based on your account's creation date
  • 3 Free Tabletop Backgrounds to set your binder's presentation environment

Note: Players who historically participated in legacy events like Winterfest or Splinterfest will find additional themed bonus stickers waiting in their inventory at launch.

Core Mechanics & Customization

The digital binder acts as a highly dynamic presentation layer rather than a restrictive vault.

  • The Bookshelf System: A new visual layout allows players to build a collection of multiple binders. You can view, hide, or rearrange multiple albums directly on your digital bookshelf.
  • Complete Customization: Players can fully edit binder names, choose specific cover and spine designs, and place one personal favorite card right in the middle of the binder to serve as a centerpiece.
  • Stickers & Decor: Collectible stickers are ownable inventory items. Normal stickers remain fully tradable until they are placed onto a page for the first time, at which point they become soulbound to that account. Placed stickers can still be repositioned or shifted between binders owned by the same user.
  • Capacity Limits: A single binder can hold up to 30 pages (270 total card slots).

The Functional Display: Zero Utility Sacrifice

The most significant achievement of the feature is that cards placed in a binder are never locked. Your assets retain 100% of their operational utility across the Splinterlands ecosystem. While proudly displayed in a public album, cards can still be used to [battle, rent, delegate, sell, or work on Land.
To bridge this freedom with public transparency, binders feature integrated Card Status Indicators. When a player browses an album, custom icons instantly show the live status of each card, such as:

  • Locked or Unlocking state
  • Listed for sale on the marketplace
  • Delegated or active in a rental contract
  • Deployed on Land or a Mage Wagon

If a displayed card is completely sold, burned, combined, or transferred off the account, the system automatically removes it from the binder slot to preserve data accuracy.

Social & Marketplace Integration

Collector Binders are completely public, turning player profiles into community showcases. Users can search for other players, flip through their albums, admire rare gold or black foils, and even interact by placing stickers on other people's community binders.
Furthermore, binders streamline asset management through Public Notes and a Direct Marketplace Sandbox. Owners can write public annotations attached to specific cards to tell the story of a hard-fought tournament win or showcase its history. If a card in a public binder is actively listed for sale or rent by its owner, browsing players can buy or rent it instantly using an integrated "Buy Now" or "Rent Now" button without ever navigating away to the main market tabs.

Expansion Costs & the Binder Shop

For serious collectors looking to scale up their showcases, the Binder Shop supplies premium expansion assets. Players can expand their footprint using either Dark Energy Crystals (DEC) or Credits:
