Hello fellow TCG enthusiasts!

This week's battle challenge is focused on Goblin Shadman, the fire hindrance. He is effectively the Undead Priest of the fire world.

If this is the first you are hearing of the Splinterlands 'Share Your Battle!' challenge, check out the official rules and guidelines in this post. Now lets get into this week's challenge.

Card Overview - Goblin Shaman

Goblin is quite frankly an amazing card. He is only 3 mana, comes with weaken at lvl 1 and at level 5 gains slow and and a magic attack. This is an incredible amount of utility and is a card that should see a LOT more play in silver than it currently does.

Battle Prep and Thoughts

For selecting a good fight for Shaman, you are looking for opponents that play a lot of lower health backline cards so you can best utilize weaken. That said, you can also use him as an offtank or sneak bait if you really need to.

The Winning Combo

Unfortunately I was knocked back into Bronze and have been having the hardest time getting back out so I don't have any interesting rulesets to best try and force a counter play. That said, my opponent played a comp that perfectly fit what I needed, multiple low (2-3) health cards.

One thing to note is that I often find pairing Goblin Shaman works better when you have speed to quickly attack backline rather than higher damage so I take Pyre over Malric

Battle Link

Round 1

For this fight I took a bit of a gamble as the Bronze water meta typically requires a hard counter to win against. That said, I was confident Shaman would be a strong enough "off-meta" counter. Unfortunately part of my normal build strat with Shaman is also focusing on speed and hoping for dodges. As you can see, this didn't work out well given the mages but Cerberus still survived the round and that is all that matters.

Round 2

Round 2 I lost Cerebus but he did his job and absorbed a hit allowing Finneas to continue in on. I could tell I was already in a position to win at this point assuming my cards landed hits. My opponent didn't have the damage to eat through Finneas in time before my opportunity/Sneak could get to work.

Round 3

Round 3 was all about breaking just breaking through the shields Wavesmith gives out. Fortunately, my team did and it was just a long slog through the end of the match.

That's a Wrap

This was a pretty straight forward fight though I can imagine Shaman would really spice things up in Silver at lvl 5. If I ever manage to get an affordable Wild deck he will certainly be included.
