Hi guys, I will be sharing my thoughts on SOUL STRANGLER and my strategy for using him in this week's battle challenge.

SOUL STRANGLER according to the splinterlands lore, The towering city of Darkholde was peaceful and quiet before the chaos gate opened. It was presided over by a long-standing noble family and governed by Baron Kutziq Neculai, and was located in the cold Blackworth mountain range. If the citizens had known the truth about their governor, they might not have been so loyal, but the Baron's tastes were sated with great restraint and he truly cared for them, taking only what he had to and never more than he had to, for Kutziq was a vampire, a race as old as the stones they'd used to build the city. He was a man who adored his people in a variety of ways, including their distinct flavor.

The soul strangler is a noble creature of noble blood and incredible wealth. They live in lavish opulence, dressed to the nines and moving in the most refined of circles, frequently interacting with the high born from other cities and enjoying intimate gatherings that last for days.

When this vampire decides to hunt, they take on a completely different persona, almost shifting their form to become more accomplished for the hunt. Their pointed ears extend, refining their hearing, and their eyes change color, allowing them to hunt in the dark, which is their preferred time. Their mouths sprout long fangs, and their fingers sprout vicious talons. But what you can't see in either form is the power they have within their minds, the ability to attack at a spiritual level when they eventually find their adversary, squeezing the very life out of them; a ranged attack that, if not avoided, will have disastrous consequences.

SOUL STRANGLER have only 1 ability which is POISON and will only be available at the max level of 8.

CARD PRICE

This is a rare monster from the DEATH splinter, and the regular foil version grants 25 CP per bcx, while the gold foil version grants 500 CP.

At the time of writing, a regular foil version of this card costs $0.113 per bcx, and level 2 requires 5 bcx, for a total cost of $0.565, which also gives 100 CP.

This card's gold foil version will automatically be upgraded to level 2, and it costs $1.998 per bcx.

The regular foil level 1 of this card costs 0.1 DEC/Day to rent, while level 2 costs 0.603 DEC/Day. The gold foil version is 0.907 DEC/Day more expensive.

WEAKNESS AND STRENGTHS

STRENGTHS, SOUL STRANGLER is a cheap and low mana cost monster that can be used in both low mana cap and high mana cap games. He has 2 range damage, which is above average at level 1, making him one of the higher damage monsters with low mana costs in novice/bronze league.

WEAKNESS. SOUL STRANGLER has only 2 HP without armor, making it extremely vulnerable to SNEAK and OPPORTUNITY monsters. This monster needs support or good placement or he will die within the first two rounds.

RULESET

This game only has a FOG OF WAR ruleset, which disables the abilities SNIPE and SNEAK, making my SOUL STRANGLER safer against monsters with those abilities, and with 17 MANA CAP, I need to pick tank monsters that will allow my SOUL STRANGER to deal more damage.

SUMMONER

THADDIUS BROOD, I picked this summoner because of his - MAGIC DAMAGE buff to counter any magic damage monsters and along with his other ability -1 HP which will allow my SOUL STRANGLER to finish the enemy faster.

TANKS

CURSED WINDEKU, with his high HP and THORNS ability that will counter the enemy melee monsters, is one of the best tanks in the lower league, and this monster's basic stats alone will help my SOUL STRANGLER, this monster just needs to live longer.

CARRION SHADE, I chose this monster to be another one of my tanks in case my CURSED WINDEKU dies. With his FLYING ability, he can make enemy monsters miss, buying time for my SOUL STRANGLER to deal more damage.

CORPSE FIEND, I chose this monster for the same reason I chose CARRION SHADE to tank damage, and this monster will be able to protect my SOUL STRANGLER from any OPPORTUNITY monster due to his 1 HP, causing those OPPORTUNITY monsters to focus on it.

MAGIC DAMAGE

LIFE SAPPER, I need something other than physical damage, and with this monster's low mana cost, it will fit in my lineup. I require a magical damage monster to assist my SOUL STRANGLER in finishing the enemy off or to counter monsters with the SHIELD ability.

RANGE DAMAGE

The main character in this game is SOUL STRANGLER. This lineup was designed to highlight my SOUL STRANGLER, and this monster will be the primary damage dealer, either finishing off the enemy or assisting my other monster in eliminating the enemy.

This battle is THADDIUS BROOD vs THADDIUS BROOD, the match result will depend on monster choices and their placement. The opponent went for double LIFE LEECH combo, while I went for a higher damage lineup.

ROUND 1

In the first round, I was able to finish off his RIFT WING while my CURSED WINDEKU still has a lot of health and the rest of his monsters are vulnerable without a good tank.

ROUND 2

Similar to the previous round, I was able to eliminate one of his monsters while retaining all of mine.

ROUND 3 & 4

I was able to finish off two of his monsters in the third round, and in the final round, I was able to eliminate all of the enemy monsters and win the game.

AFTERTHOUGHTS

SOUL STRANGLER is a monster that I rarely use, but when I do, it gives me a high win rate. This monster is fantastic in the lower league, especially with the LITTE LEAGUE and FOG OF WAR rulesets, where it shines.
It took me a while to complete this challenge because I was waiting for the FOG OF WAR ruleset to ensure that this monster was featured, and it did not disappoint.
