Game Review - Arker: Legend of Ohm

Today I'd like to introduce a new game that I found by chance on Twitter, to be honest, I think it has a lot of potential looking at how the developers are working to create it and the news of Binance Smart Chain backing it.

Araker is supposed to be a multiplatform game where you play the role of a hero with an accompanying pet. The game is supposed to have both a PVP and PVE mode where we will fight for control of the kingdom of Ohm, it sounds a bit like the theme from the recently released New World game, but I hope that here players will stay for longer. It should be noted that the game mode itself looks to be typically mobile, where we choose skills and fight turn-based.

Gameplay

The game will eventually feature four game modes:

  • Battle - typical PVP combat
  • Showdown- fight with your clone
  • PVE- a fight with opponents, to improve basic statistics
  • Guild War - fight 10 vs 10 to gain influence

Each mode is to offer different bonuses, e.g. during a regular PVP fight, the player will receive FoA tokens, gold, and experience, and in the case of the Showdown mode, only experience will be gained.

Game mechanics

Four game mechanics are currently presented in the game.

  1. Preparation- to win against opponents, each character will be able to be equipped with various items from armor to weapons and skills.
  2. Matchmaking - the developers envision a matchmaking system to select opponents based on the approximate level of players (the maximum level difference is three) to ensure the best possible gameplay.
  3. Turns - turns in the game look like typical card games, first one person randomly selects skills, then the opponent must choose what to use. My attention was drawn to the time per turn, which is only 30 seconds, so the fight will be quite fast.
  4. End of the game and rewards - in the game, everyone gets something for the fight, of course, the winner gets more. The winner will be rewarded with 95% of the gold wagered by players and will also receive experience. The loser gets the rest,

Classes

Currently, three classes have been created in the game:

  • Berserker - powerful warrior, strong as an animal
  • Alchemist - cult and intelligent investigator
  • Izarian - strong and incredibly acrobatic

    image.png

Items

Items in the game are designed to give the hero life or energy during battle. Every hero will be able to equip himself with a helmet, armor, weapon, or boots. In addition, the developers have added the ability to use additional skills during combat that these items will provide. It seems that the main thing that players will care about is looking for the best equipment to get the best skills during the fight. It is an interesting idea to collect items instead of cards as is the case with many similar productions.

Abilities

Attacks that hero can perform during a battle. Each ability has a cost of wisdom, so the player can give his hero eight abilities with maximum wisdom in total.

Interestingly, once in a battle, four of the abilities previously given to the hero will be randomly selected.

Pets

Thanks to pets, the hero will receive additional stats and abilities

Token Economics

One thing I like is the Deflationary Mechanism created, which is that every time a player makes an in-game purchase paying with FoA 85% of the value will go back to the game pool, and the other 15% will be burned.

Summary

In my opinion, if the developers put a lot of attention to the combat mode itself and how tokens would be earned I think that the game has a very large potential. However, it should be noted that I have seen many projects that had a very similar gameplay system. I hope that in the future some things will be added that will distinguish this game and many players will play for the pleasure of playing, and not as it is in most productions created as play2earn to make money.

Seems like a cool game. No doubt there's alot of crypto games out there and can be confusing to chose which will be a successful one in the future.

Best way to go i believe is to have fun and not be focused on the rewards. Sometimes it's too good to be true.

YES I could not agree with this post more. If people are chasing "success" metrics though, I believe they should do some due diligence in researching the teams involved in the project as the team history may help them decide if it will have a higher % chance of success or not.

Also the age old saying of don't put all your eggs in one basket or the idea of removing your initial investment as quickly as possible so you don't have to be stressed by the financial metric, but just enjoy the project and game for what it is as you can still grow it and scale in or out investments at a later time.

You're right, we have to wait for the day they show the gameplay it will be a real judgment day.

I fully agree with you on this point.

NFT Games should be, as the name says, GAMES. Actual games, with fun mechanics, engaging gameplay, etc.

The sad reality is that 95% of the NFT games around aren't games, they're just 'click here and there every X hours to farm coins'. All of those will, sooner rather than later, die.

That's why I actually believe in Splinterlands and Gods Unchained; I've played both for a longer time already, and they're still interesting to think about, to read about, to play, etc. They're actual games, with a token economy behind it.

I love how you see it and splinterland is definitely a good game with alot of game play and tournament.

I have been playing rs for a while now and I think the future opportunities can be confusing because music mixing with nft's can be a huge success over the years.

I technically don't think it's going to be a click, click nft game forever. It's a new project and I look forward to seeing how things turns out.

Glad to hear your honest opinion.

Indeed; I'm also playing RisingStar, and while I still think it's too "clicky-clicky", it's being developed in a very fast manner in order to become a more engaging, fun game to play.

Interesting more and more games are going to pop up in this space and I find it quite fascinating being a gamer my entire life.

I wonder if this game is named the legend of ohm because the developers or team members has a large stake in the crypto ohm? or is this just an unique coincidence?

Also congrats on such a cool hive punk if I got one so cool I would have held onto it as I believe as we start referencing history and more and more importance are placed on this idea of a social image and a pfp to display our characteristics stuff of that nature will attract more attention.

That's a very good question, I'll have to see for myself if the developers have anything to do with it.

Thank you very much, I'm holding my Punk tight and not giving it away to anyone, I've already received offers of over 3000 HIVE, but I feel this is just the beginning of a beautiful adventure.

Wow that is so amazing. Dang maybe I should have kept one of the hive punks as a memory of it, but I'm still rather new to this space and building out my network and trying to maximize my resources.

Yeah that is really cool as many lottery winners end up losing most of their winnings back, but it seems you differ in that you don't acknowledge things as they are now but use vision to see where they could and how much it could be.

I think that sense of faith and hope is what is needed compounded with the due diligence it takes in order to strive and achieve great things.

Great writeup. I appreciate you going into the token details. Ultimately I make my decisions on which games to look into typically by looking at the game complexity itself but any time tokens are well thought out thats a huge plus.
