Opening of the UNTAMED pack of cards

Recently I managed to receive one pack of UNTAMED cards, at this point I had no idea that the pack itself is worth about $100 and without thinking I opened it, you will find out soon if it was worth it.

What is an Untamed pack of cards?

Splinterlands Untamed was a new set of 71 brand new cards (monsters and summoners) that began sales following the sellout of the Beta Set. During this set, an additional purchase reward system of airdrops was also implemented. These airdrops take place every 100,000 packs sold with the release of a brand new card, and players have greater chances of receiving the new card based on how many Untamed packs they have purchased from Splinterlands.com.

As new abilities have been added to the game, many Untamed cards came with (now crucial) abilities that could not be found in the cards of the Alpha and Beta sets.

1.5 million Untamed Booster Packs were created.

Is it worth opening?

This question can be asked by anyone, in my opinion, it is worth it for two reasons, firstly if you are lucky you can win a lottery ticket and earn thousands of dollars, and secondly, even if you are unlucky you will receive a CP giving you an extra airdrop on your account.

What did I get and how much are these cards worth?

In the picture below you can see all the cards that I was able to draw, in my opinion, they are not great, but playable in silver so it's not so bad.

The price list of the cards

  1. War Chaang - $24.35

  2. Failed Summoner - $1.77

  3. Horny Toad (gold foiled) - $22.00

  4. Unicorn Mustang - $5.57

  5. Biceratops - $0.58

As of today, the price of one pack of cards ranges from $80-100

Summing up the price of all the cards I managed to earn $54.27 with a total CP of 760.

In a case where I would have found it better to resell the pack, I would have earned about $25 more.

Summary

In conclusion, I think just opening is very cool and worth doing than selling packs, but it's because I love risk, it's obvious why I got interested in cryptocurrencies.

And that's all thank you for stopping by to view this article.

Opening packs (be it on a NFT game or on a physical game like Magic the Gathering) is always risky business: the average value of the packs are always skewed due a few very rare but ultra-valuable assets; so the average may be high, but the median is inevitably low.

As I'm usually risk-averse, I prefer to sell the packs themselves and buy the individual cards I want.
