Splinterlands Rewards Change

So there were recent changes to the Splinterlands reward system we are going to quickly go over it.

So the changes were made mostly due to the fact that the players in the Bronze league were earning disproportionate amounts of DECS relative to the rest of the leagues and the fact that the bronze league is run rampant with bots constantly farming DECS all day in the bronze league.

So there were many players in the bronze league (Bots included) that only purchased the Spellbook, without investing any more into the game and farming DECs and sending it over to the main account or instantly liquidating with no intentions of further growing the account.

So to combat this Splinterlands made two main changes to how the Bronze league rewards system works. Starting September 30th, the DEC rewards given out for the ranked battles will be capped based on your league.

So if you have 0 Summoner powers, regardless of how many ranked wins you get, your rewards will be capped to how much you can earn in Bronze III, whereas prior to this change players with 0 Summoner Powers could potentially earn DECs high as someone in the Gold league per game.

So here's the new loot rewards breakdown for the bronze league. As you can see the Silver rank remains unchanged but the Bronze league will no longer earn DEC in the loot boxes. This will discourage the bots from trying to farm in the bronze league as well as incentivize newer players to grow and invest in the account so that you can progress to at least Silver rank.

I also highly encourage you the read the original blog post here, where the Splinterlands team reiterates that Splinterlands is NOT a free-to-play game. It is a play-to-earn game in which all of the in-game assets are scarce and limited in quantity. It is much more similar to Magic the Gathering (the physical playing card version) than Hearthstone, and in MtG no one expects to get the physical playing cards for free, but they do expect that they own the cards they purchase and can trade or sell them whenever and wherever they wish.

I think this is a great way to combat this problem and I am very impressed with the Splinterlands team to address this issue in a swift manner and that just makes me more bullish for the future of this game especially once the Chaos Legion packs come out!

That's it for today, I will see you guys next time!
