How to Counter Mages using Life

How to deal with mages using life deck.png

The Prologue:

The current meta are mages. Those low mana creatures from the Water Tribe is annoying to deal with since they are mostly free and magic damage actually ignores armor making them really hard to deal with. In order for you to climb higher, you should have a counter strategy for them so those matches would be considered a "free win."
With them being rampant in the current game, I give you the cheapest counter for these annoying little mages using the Life Kingdom.

The Strategy:

The idea is Crystal Werewolf's Silence would decrease all magic damage by 1 then Clay Golem's Void ability would block them making the current mages meta useless. I chose this rather than the others because this is the cheapest there is. You only spend 0.22 DEC per day for rent and you can get a solid front line that counters mages.

Card Needed:

Clay Golem is the main tank of this build. This is a free card that you can use when you first buy a spellbook. With him having decent stats and mana cost, I always play him as a main tank and first position. His Void ability, which halves all magic damage, is really strong specially when incorporated with Crystal Werewolf's Silence ability. On additional note, when the magic damage is 1, void completely negates it and changes the damage to 0 which makes him deadly versus mages.

Crystal Werewolf is a card you can rent for very cheap. I just rented one for 0.22 DEC per day and by winning 1 game, it already paid for itself. He has a decent stats and mana cost which makes him a good first or second tank. I always play him second in case the opponent did not use any mages in that game.
What makes Crystal Werewolf special, besides his awesome name, is his silence ability. Silence decreases all magic damage by 1. This works the same as Bortus Summoner and counters all mages specially Alric Summoner which increases all magic damage by 1.

The Battle:

Here is an example of how effective this combo is. Even if the opponent increases his damage via Alric's effect, it is immediately countered by Crystal Werewolf's Silence effect and Clay Golem's Void effect completely blocks the damage without having a single damage throughout the game.

Special thanks to @notcanon for the dividers and letting me copy the format of his blog.

I also accept card donations and DEC donations as Christmas gift. So, please, don't be afraid to send me some.

Hello @lasplinter256! This is @traciyork from the @ocd (Original Content Decentralized) curation team. We noticed you shared your first post here on Hive - congratulations and welcome!

I have a quick question though - I noticed you thanked @notcanon for the dividers & format of this blog, but it looks like you've actually posted a copy of a blog he wrote & deleted today.

As I'm sure you can imagine, we have an issue with plagiarism on the blockchain, so I just wanted to shout out to make sure everything's on the up and up before any other anti abuse people show up. 😊

Thanks in advance for clearing this up and since I'm going by the assumption that it's all perfectly innocent, here's the rest of my usual welcome message -

Welcome! It would also be awesome if you could do an introduction post, so our community can get to know you better. For an example of what an intro post is like, you can check out this one by my friend & curation team member -

Keeping Up With the Buzz - My Introduction to the Hive Community.

Speaking of community, we have many different ones here on the blockchain, devoted to all kinds of interests. Here's a link so you can check them all out - Hive Communities . I think you'll find these two particularly interesting to start off with -

Also, as Hive can sometimes be quite confusing, the newly launched Newbies Guide should be helpful to you, as it is a growing repository of useful and easy to understand posts about how the Hive ecosystem works.

Please be aware that Hive is a bit different from other social media platforms since you are monetizing your blog, so it is important not to include content that you don't own without sources (and it shouldn't exceed 50% of the post). For more information, check this post - Why and How People Abuse and Plagiarise by hivewatchers.

Since you're new, you may run into an RC (Resource Credits) error when trying to comment/post because you don't yet have enough Hive in your account yet. For assistance with a temporary delegation to get you started, be sure to check out the Gift Giver site.

For now, @lovesniper will follow your account and we are looking forward to seeing your intro post. Also, please mention (also known as tagging) @traciyork & @lovesniper in your intro post in order for us to be notified, so we can consider your post for OCD curation. Lastly, feel free to hop into the OCD Discord server if you have any questions!

Regarding the weird deleted post, then I pasted it here, actually, I was using his computer and I didn't see that I was using his account. So, to avoid confusion, I deleted the post there, and posted it in my account.
I do run into a resource credit error. I don't know why.
The only thing copied is the format and the dividers are a gift because I were one of his referrals. Everything is, of course, went by him first if it's allowed and he said yes.

Ahh, that makes perfect sense - thanks for clearing that up, @lasplinter256!

And you'll probably run into a RC error until you have some Hive in your wallet (think of it as the fuel that runs all of your Hive actions). Maybe @notcanon could delegate a small amount to you until can add some to your account?

@traciyork I will ask him about that.
Two questions. First, do I need to make a new format or everything is cool?
And second, what's going to be the tags for the intro post/blog?

Thanks for the help. :)

  1. The format is cool, so no need to change. 😊
  2. The main tag would be introduceyourself and then any others you think would work (for example, if you talk about playing Splinterlands, you could use splinterlands as well)

And you're very welcome - be sure to shout out if you have any others. 😎
