Ways to get Free Cryptocurrency

Hello everyone. Hope you are doing good. My interest in cryptocurrency and NFTs started around 4 months ago and I wanted to get into the scene without actually investing anything. I did not really know much and didn’t want to risk real money. So I searched around for ways to get free cryptocurrency. Here are some ways I found. I do invest now, but who doesn’t like receiving free crypto?

1. Blogging

That’s right. Everyone here will already know this but I plan to share this post outside of Hive too. One can blog on peakd.com, hive.blog, leofinance.io, splintertalk.io and publish0x.com and earn cryptocurrency. You don’t have to invest anything other than your time and writing skills.

No one will read your posts initially (this post too, probably), but you get some writing experience at least and can always come back with renewed vigour for your next post. Once people recognise that you are producing quality content, they’ll be happy to support your content.

2. Following your passion

Yup. You can get paid for following your passion. If writing is not your forte, do what you do best. Are you an artist? Do you love travelling the world? Do you love singing? Do you take great photos? Just post your work here. There is an audience for most of your passions and hobbies.

3. Watching tutorial videos on crypto exchanges

Really. I don’t know if they still have this but a few months ago, on Coinbase, you could watch some videos and get paid free crypto.

4. Staking crypto

Many exchanges give you free crypto for staking crypto that you already have. This could be in the form of earning more crypto of the crypto that you are staking, like earning interest. It could also qualify you to get airdrops of some other token for staking some other coin. For example, on Binance, if you stake BNB , you are eligible to receive airdrops of whatever new coin they are launching.

Then, you can provide liquidity to swap pairs and farm from other pools. These I don’t understand fully, but you can earn here too.

5. Playing games

This has to be my favourite and I didn’t really imagine that there will be a time when you get paid to play games. There are multiple ways to earn crypto by playing games.

Games like Splinterlands (my favourite blockchain game and that is my referral link), pay you in crypto tokens for every win you get in the game. That’s not the end of it, more on it later.

You can record yourself playing any game of your choice or even stream live and post it on 3Speak or Dtube and get paid in crypto.

And most blockchain games have their game assets as NFTs and these are truly owned by you. Splinterlands assets - cards, lands are NFTs. Alien Worlds tools, characters are NFTs. Gods Unchained cards are NFTs. These can be freely traded on the 'in game' or outside crypto markets.

The game assets and their marketplaces have become entire economic models by themselves. You can probably earn just by trading these game assets and never playing the game.

6. Posting useful content on cryptocurrency sub Reddit

On the sub Reddit Crytocurrency, you can post meaningful, related content and earn Moons as tokens of appreciation and these are literally crypto tokens!

7. Mining Crypto

If you have a powerful enough computer, you can even mine Ethereum but some coins can be mined with enough RAM and not a great graphics card, Monero, is one example.

These are some of the methods I discovered to get free cryptocurrency. The best method to make some money in crypto is probably investing in crypto, if you truly believe in the model.

Splinterlands

I would like to write some more on Splinterlands, like I mentioned before. This game actually is not free to play (if you want to make money out of it that is). It is free to try but if you want to earn rewards and crypto and be able to trade cards and all that, you have to purchase a $10 worth spellbook. And after that, you are ready to play to your heart's content without spending another dollar. And you will earn this $10 back in quick time just playing the game.

So, with that out of the way, I would like to elaborate on how the game is an ecosystem by itself. Many of the points I mentioned above about getting free crypto, applies to this game.

I mean, you can just blog about this game and earn crypto. You don’t really have to play it. Just write what you feel about the game, how you play, if you have any tips for others and so on.

Do you not want to write about it? Fine, make some art about it. Stream your games live. Post your battle links. Yes, you get paid for doing this too. And guess what, there are weekly competitions for Splinterlands art. You get paid in booster packs of the game and also get handsome upvotes. There are weekly battle challenges too, just posting your interesting battle earns you good number of upvotes.

I had written about staking and airdrops as ways to get free crypto above. Splinterlands gives you some more free crypto in the form of SPS (their governance token) airdrops for just holding Splinterlands assets. Also, if you stake SPS, you get some more SPS. Wow!

This eventually became a post mostly about Splinterlands but that's all right. That is how good the game is. See you in the next one.
