In Splinterlands, there are many ways to get started. We don’t have just one straight path to follow for playing or investing; instead, you have different options you can take to get started and make progress. In fact, we have options for everyone—I’m talking about those who just want to play, those who don’t have the capital to start with an investment, and those who do have the money to start with and want to win right from the beginning. There’s an option for everyone. However, this is something they don’t tell newcomers; even though the game guides you, there’s still a lack of information.
However, that’s where we “Content Creators” come in. It’s not just about sharing battles; we have to share the information that new players need—or that existing players require to continue advancing further in the game. I firmly believe that’s our purpose here, which is why in this post I’ll explain quickly and simply what the progression paths are for all players in the Splinterlands ecosystem.
So, if you don't want to miss this, stick around until the end, because you'll learn how to play if you start for free—though I plan to do a second part aimed at players who'd like to start by investing.
What is the path for "Free" players?
As some of you may know, you can get started for free in Splinterlands; however, this takes time and effort, as well as an understanding of how “Soulbound” cards and the associated tokens work—which we need to fuel our progress in the game. But don’t worry—I’ll explain it in a way that everyone can understand, perhaps in another post about how GLINT and other features work. The important thing here is to pay attention so you can learn how to maximize your profits and, of course, the rewards you’ll earn along the way.
How to Maximize Daily and Weekly Rewards
Take Advantage of “Campaign Mode”: At this point, there’s no better way to get started with the game, and my recommendation here is definitely to begin with “Campaign Mode,” since this format lets you learn the fundamentals of the game from the very basics before moving on to “Modern Format”—though the best part is that you can gradually collect cards from the “Foundations” set.
Earning GLINT: GLINT is essential for players’ growth and progress in Splinterlands; it’s the non-transferable token you earn in every ranked battle. The idea behind GLINT is to accumulate it so you can use it in the rewards store and complete the “Arcane Conclave” rewards deck, although you can also purchase other useful items, such as potions and energy.
Strategic Burning: Something not everyone does—because they want to collect every card—but which can really help us make huge progress in the game is what I call “Strategic Burning.” This involves burning cards we won’t use or that don’t perform well in battle to earn GLINT, thereby accumulating much more to buy or try to acquire the cards we truly need to make our deck stronger.
NOTE: This is how I would start the game. Of course, you could add things like using “Practice Mode” to apply everything you’ve learned in Campaign Mode, but the most important part is what I’ve outlined above, so you can get started completely for free and maximize your in-game rewards. Of course, what follows is also important, because it will help you improve your gameplay and earn even more rewards.
What are the top game modes for F2P players?
In this section, I'll be highlighting the game modes where we can earn rewards while improving our gameplay—which, after all, is the most important thing for making progress—while, of course, keeping in mind the importance of accumulating as much GLINT as possible.
Ranked Battles (Modern Format): This is the ideal format for any beginner to start with, since only cards from certain sets—such as “Rebellion” and “Arcana Conclave”—can be used, which reduces the complexity of the deck combinations that can be built.
Brawl Battles: This is one of the best ways to progress in the game, since you not only earn SPS rewards based on your guild’s performance against others, but you also earn “Merits,” which are a type of token used to make purchases in the “Guild Store.” for example, one of the objectives you’ll need to complete is the “Gladius” set, which is useful not only in battles against other guilds but also in ranked play.
Free-Entry Tournaments: This is an excellent way to improve your game, since you'll be facing off against the best players, and at the same time, as you learn, you can earn SPS rewards or even other significant prizes.
NOTE: In addition to all of the above, playing in these game modes will not only help you improve your gameplay, but you’ll also be able to earn rewards while doing so. Of course, finding a good “Guild” is quite a challenge, so you’ll need to prove your worth by continuously improving in ranked play and dominating a specific league with a certain level of cards.
Final Thoughts
With that in mind, this is the best way to get started in the game completely for free. I might be missing a detail or two, but this is the most straightforward way to begin by prioritizing GLINT, which is the best way to progress—mainly because the goal is to complete the game’s reward set, since this will significantly boost your main deck. And the best part is that you won’t have to buy your first cards in the game just yet. Of course, the next step is figuring out what to do with the rewards you earn—but that’s a topic for another post.

En Splinterlands existen muchas formas de comenzar, no tenemos solo una línea recta que seguir para jugar o invertir sino que tienes distintas opciones que puedes ir siguiendo para comenzar y progresar, de hecho tenemos opciones para todos los gustos, me refiero a los que quieran solo jugar, a los que no tengan capital para iniciar con una inversión o para esos que si tienen como comenzar con dinero y quieren ganar desde el inicio, pues para todos hay una posibilidad, sin embargo, esto es algo que no les dicen a los mas nuevos, sino que literalmente a pesar de que el juego los guía, hay falta de información.
Sin embargo, para este tipo de casos estamos los “Creadores de Contenido”, no solo se trata de compartir batallas, tenemos que compartir esa información que el nuevo jugador necesita o que el que ya esta en el juego requiere para continuar con su progreso de forma mas avanzada, creo firmemente que esa es nuestra razón de ser aquí, es por eso que en este post explicare de forma rápida y sencilla cuales son las rutas de progresión que tienen todos los jugadores en el ecosistema de Splinterlands.
Así que, si no quieres perderte esto, quédate hasta el final, porque aprenderás a como jugar si comienzas de forma gratuita, aunque pretendo hacer una segunda parte hablando para esos jugadores que quisieran iniciar con inversión.
¿Cuál es el camino para el jugador “Gratuito”?
Como algunos deben de saber, en Splinterlands podemos comenzar de forma gratuita, sin embargo, esto es algo que requiere tiempo y esfuerzo y tener el conocimiento de como funcionan las cartas “Soulbound” y los tokens asociados que necesitamos para alimentar nuestro progreso en el juego. Aunque no se preocupen, lo explicare de forma que todos comprendan quizás en otra publicación sobre la función del GLINT y otros, pero lo importante aquí es que presten atención para que aprendan como maximizar las ganancias y por supuesto las recompensas que se vayan obteniendo.
La forma para maximizar recompensas diarias y semanales
Aprovechar el “Modo Campaña”: En este punto no hay mejor forma de iniciar en el juego, y mi recomendación sin duda aquí es comenzar por el “Modo Campaña”, ya que en este formato puedes aprender lo que son las bases del juego desde lo mas básico, para luego pasar al “Formato Moderno”, aunque lo mejor de esto es que puedes ir obteniendo las cartas del SET de “Foundations”.
Acumular GLINT: El GLINT es pieza fundamental para el crecimiento y progreso de los jugadores en Splinterlands, es ese token no transaccional que ganas en cada batalla del juego clasificado. La idea del GLINT es acumularlo para usarlo en la tienda de recompensas y completar el mazo de recompensas de “Conclave Arcana”, aunque también se pueden adquirir otro Items de interés que te pueden servir, como pociones y energía.
Quema Estratégica: Algo no todos hacen porque quieren coleccionar todas las cartas y que de verdad puede ayudar a que avancemos muchísimo en el juego, es lo que yo llamo “Quema Estratégica”, la cual consiste en quemar esas cartas que no usaremos o que no funcionan muy bien en la batalla para obtener GLINT y de esa manera reunir mucho mas para comprar o tratar de adquirir las cartas que en verdad necesitamos para hacer nuestro mazo más fuerte.
NOTA: Esta es la forma en que yo iniciaría en el juego, por supuesto podría agregar cosas como usar el “Modo Practica” para que apliquen todo lo aprendido en el modo campaña, pero, lo mas importante es lo anterior para que puedan iniciar de forma completamente gratuita y busquen maximizar sus recompensas en el juego, por supuesto, lo que sigue a continuación también es importante, porque los ayudara a mejorar en el juego y conseguir aun mas recompensas.
¿Cuáles son los modos de juegos prioritarios para los jugadores F2P?
En esta sección lo que haré será mostrar esos modos de juego en donde podemos obtener recompensas mientras mejoramos en la jugabilidad, que al final es lo más importante para ir progresando, por supuesto, recordando la importancia de acumular la mayor cantidad de GLINT que podamos.
Las Batallas Clasificadas (Formato Moderno): Este es el formato ideal en el que todo jugador principiantes debería comenzar, ya que solo se pueden usar cartas de ciertas ediciones como las de “Rebellion y Conclave Arcana”, lo que reduce la complejidad de las combinaciones que se pueden realizar.
Batallas de Brawl: Esta es una de las mejores formas de ir progresando en el juego, ya que no solo ganas recompensas en SPS por el desempeño de tu gremio en frente de otros, sino que también ganas “Méritos” que son una especie de token que se usa para comprar en la “Tienda de Gremios”, por ejemplo, uno de esos objetivos que se tienen que colocar es completar el SET de “Gladius” el cual no solo es útil en las batallas contra otros gremios sino también en el juego clasificado.
Torneos con Entradas Gratuitas: Esta es una excelente forma de mejorar en el juego, ya que te enfrentaras a los mejores del mismo y al mismo tiempo mientras vayas aprendiendo puedes ganar recompensas en SPS o incluso otras bastante importantes.
NOTA: Complementando todo lo anterior, el jugar en estos modos de juegos les asegurara no solo mejorar en el juego, sino que podrán ganar recompensas mientras lo hacen, por supuesto, el conseguir un buen “Gremio” es todo un desafío, por lo que debes demostrar tu valor mejorando cada vez mas en el juego clasificado y dominar cierta liga con un determinado nivel de cartas.
Consideraciones Finales
Con esto claro, esta es la mejor forma de comenzar en el juego completamente gratis, quizás me salte uno que otro detalle pero, esta es la forma directa de iniciar priorizando lo que es el GLINT que es la mejor forma en la que podrán progresar, principalmente porque la idea es completar el SET de recompensas del juego, ya que esto les dará mucha fuerza a su mazo principal y lo mejor es que aún no comprarían sus primeras cartas en el juego, por supuesto, lo siguiente es saber que hacer con las recompensas que se vayan obteniendo, esto sería material para otra publicación.
