Hay algo que he querido hacer desde hace mucho tiempo y se trata de saber cuales son las cartas mas costosas del juego por “Formato o Modo” de juego actual, esto reduce las opciones a solo 2 y son los mas grandes y famosos que todos hayamos conocido, me refiero al formato “Moderno y Salvaje”, los cuales son los que dividen actualmente las ediciones y los tipos de cartas que podemos jugar en uno u otro, ademas de que se utiliza como referencia para jugar torneos y muchas otros aspectos donde es necesario conocer la diferencia entre ambos. Quizás pueda que la mayoría no les preste importancia, pero, esto es parte de conocer el juego a fondo.
Es por eso que, conocer el valor de las cartas es fundamental para cualquier jugador no importa su nivel, ya que, puede que se trata de un jugador que sea mas competitivo, y busque desafiar a los mejores jugadores actuales o en su defecto, sea un inversor más que un jugador y prefiera resguardar el capital en este tipo de activos, es por eso que, aunque no parezca relevante, conocer esta información tiene todo el sentido del mundo, así que, hoy precisamente quiero enfocarme en eso, pero, lo dividiré por formatos, lo que quiere decir que, compartiré 2 publicaciones diferentes sobre este tema.
Es claro que debemos comenzar por las cartas más antiguas que a mi manera de ver las cosas, deberían por mucho ser las mas costosas de todas, pero, profundizare en esto en el desarrollo de esta publicación.
¿Qué origina el “Precio” de una Carta en Splinterlands?
El precio de una carta en el juego no se origina de manera aleatoria, sino que existen criterios estrictos que determina el valor que posee en el mercado. Quizás algunos ya lo sabían, otro no tanto, pero todos estos aspectos son fundamentales para que los jugadores puedan tomar decisiones acertadas de compra y venta en el juego, en pocas palabras, si los jugadores quieren minimizar el riesgo a perder dinero, deben de conocer todos estos conceptos que les explicare a continuación, ya que forman parte de un análisis previo que todos deben hacer:
¿Cuáles son estos “Criterios”?
Rareza: Esto es lo principal que todo jugador debe observar antes de compra o vender una carta, las rarezas por lo general determinan el “Suministro” de esta carta, lo que influye al final en el precio, ya que mientras menos cartas haya disponibles, más será su valor, algo que es básico en economía. La rarezas se dividen en (Común, Rara, Épica y Legendaria).
Utilidad en el META: Básicamente, este sencillo aspecto influye en el precio mas de lo que puedan imaginar, ya que su eficiencia en el juego, especialmente en ligas superiores como “Diamante o Campeón”, puede afectar directamente el precio de una carta.
Suministro Limitado: La rareza es una cosa, pero el suministro de una edición también determina el valor que tendrá una carta. Esta especificaciones se dan a conocer antes de lanzar una edición o mini edición, esto es importante porque a partir de allí podremos saber cuántas copias podría tener una u otra carta. Por otro lado, cartas de ediciones antiguas que ya no se producen por medio de los packs, deben de ser mucho mas valiosas que las actuales de “Conclave Arcana o Escalation” por ejemplo.
Demanda de Coleccionistas: Algo que muy poco toman en cuenta pero que es igual de relevante que el resto. Ya que las versiones de “Lamina Dorada” por ejemplo, las cartas “Promo”, presentan mucha mas escasez que el resto, por lo que para un coleccionista tienen un valor muy superiore al de las “Laminas Regulares”.
Top de las Cartas mas costosas de Splinterlands (Formato Salvaje)
Para poder conocer cuales eran las cartas mas costosas por cada formato, utilice la gran plataforma de “Peakmonsters”, la cual es bastante amigable, tiene muchos filtros increíbles que nos permiten filtrar rápidamente y de forma eficiente cuales son las cartas mas costosas a la fecha determinada por varios factores que les presentare en esta sección:
Con esto claro, en la siguiente imagen podrán ver cuales son las cartas mas “Caras” de todo el juego en el “Formato Salvaje”:
Top Cartas más Costosas "Formato Salvaje"
Para comenzar, me pareció correcto ordenar estas cartas por el valor mas alto de cada BCX, el cual representa el costo mas alto de cada carta, lo que mostraría prácticamente su valor real en el mercado en la actualidad. Esto nos deja con el siguiente orden de cartas y por qué son las más costosas:
Shin-Lo: Esta es la carta mas cara de todo el juego en el “Formato Salvaje” de ediciones antiguas, específicamente del SET Alpha, el precio mas alto por BCX es de $188. Por lo que veo existe una sola carta listada en nivel 1 con dicho valor. Es una carta “Promocional”, por lo que su precio esta bastante bien establecido tomando en cuenta que ademas es una carta del Splinter más poderoso de todos que es el de Dragón.
Frost Giant: Esta carta también pertenece al poderoso SET Alpha, es del Splinter de Agua y esta en la segunda posición con el precio por BCX más alto detrás de “Shin-Lo, el precio mas alto por BCX es de $62.50 y con una carta lista en su nivel máximo con valor de $500. Este es un Tanque nato de esa época, particularmente a mi no es que me guste mucho, pero por tan solo ser de la edición “Alpha” merece su lugar aquí.
Elemental Phoenix: Esta carta al igual que las anteriores pertenece al SET de Alpha, ocupa la tercera posición, el precio por BCX mas alto lo tiene en $49.88, teniendo una carta en su nivel máximo con el precio de $399. Es una carta del Splinter Fuego, una de las mejores en su momento, una carta muy ágil y versátil ideal para casi cualquier ocasión.
Lightning Dragón: Eta carta podría ser fácilmente la 3ra, pero la dejare de 4ta siguiendo el orden de la imagen. Esta carta tiene un precio por BCX mas alto igual a la carta anterior de $49.88, lo que quiero decir que una carta en su nivel máximo actual esta en $399. En el post anterior hable de esta carta que es la que poseo, siendo mi favorita, es una de las mejore de su época y pertenece al Splinter mas poderoso que es el de “Dragón”.
Selenia Sky: Un invocador o ahora llamado “Arconte” histórico, serian la 5ta carta con un precio por BCX de $43.13, y una carta en nivel máximo de $345 apropiadamente. En su momento era una invocador letal, cada vez que se jugaba los rivales sentían que ya iban a perder, la habilidad que otorga es dar mas poder de fuego a los ataques de rango, quizás ahora no sea muy relevante, pero para eso momento lo era. Igual al anterior también pertenece al Splinter de Dragón.
Prince Julian: Ya pasamos de edición, y tenemos una carta “Promocional” de las mas costosas que salieron en su momento, pero que hoy sigue siendo una de ellas estando en el top 6, con un costo por BCX mas alto de $40.91, solo hay una listada en el mercado con un precio de $450. Es un invocador con 2 puntos de mana, prácticamente no tiene nada de habilidades ni utilidad, viene siendo como una carta emblemática.
Lord Of Darkness: Una de las cartas mas poderosas de su momento la cual también pertenece al SET Alpha y al Splinter de Muerte, con un costo de BCX alto de $39.99, con este costo de BCX no tiene ninguna carta a nivel máximo listada, pero si estuviera uno tendría un precio de $439.89. Esta carta si era bastante fuerte en ese momento, se usaba mucho como “Tanque” en el equipo de muerte. Buenos tiempos.
Gold Dragón: Una de las cartas mas fuertes de “Dragón” jamás creadas, juntándose con “Lightning Dragón”, son de las mas fuertes de esa época, también es una carta “Alpha” y su utilidad y poder todavía se sienten en el campo si es que llegas a verla. Tiene un costo por BCX mas alto de $39.99 y su cartas más costosa tendría el mismo valor que la anterior, unos $439.89.
Consideraciones Finales
¿Qué te parecieron las cartas mas costosas del juego tomando en cuenta solo las ediciones antiguas, enfocándose especialmente en la edición “Alpha”? Para mi es una locura, estas cartas deberían de tener mas utilidad de solo funcionar en las “Parcelas de Tierra” que, de por si son muy útiles, pero, poco a poco están quedando desplazadas y no hay mucho movimiento en el mercado alrededor de ellas.

There’s something I’ve wanted to do for a long time, and that is to find out which cards are the most expensive in the game by “format or mode” of play today. which narrows the options down to just two—the biggest and most famous ones we’ve all come to know. I’m referring to the “Modern and Wild” formats, which currently determine the editions and types of cards we can play in each, and are also used as a reference for tournaments and many other aspects where it’s necessary to understand the difference between the two. Perhaps most people don’t think it’s important, but this is part of truly understanding the game.
That’s why knowing the value of the cards is essential for any player, regardless of their skill level. Whether you’re a more competitive player looking to challenge today’s top players, or an investor rather than a player who prefers to safeguard your capital in this type of asset, knowing this information makes perfect sense—even if it doesn’t seem relevant at first glance. So, today I want to focus specifically on that, but I’ll break it down by format, which means I’ll be sharing two separate posts on this topic.
It’s clear that we should start with the oldest letters, which, in my view, should by far be the most valuable of all, but I’ll go into more detail on this later in this post.
What determines the "Price" of a Card in Splinterlands?
The price of a card in the game isn't determined randomly; rather, there are strict criteria that determine its market value. Some of you may already know this, others not so much, but all these aspects are essential for players to make sound buying and selling decisions in the game. In short, if players want to minimize the risk of losing money, they must understand all these concepts that I will explain below, as they are part of a preliminary analysis that everyone should perform:
What are these “Criteria”?
Rarity: This is the most important factor every player should consider before buying or selling a card. Rarity generally determines the card’s “supply,” which ultimately influences its price; the fewer cards available, the higher their value—a basic principle of economics. Rarities are divided into Common, Rare, Epic, and Legendary.
Usefulness in META: Basically, this simple factor influences the price more than you might think, since a card’s effectiveness in-game—especially in higher tiers like “Diamond” or “Champion”—can directly affect its price.
Limited Supply: Rarity is one thing, but the supply of a set also determines a card’s value. These details are released before a set or mini-set is launched; this is important because it allows us to know how many copies of a particular card might exist. On the other hand, cards from older editions that are no longer produced in booster packs should be much more valuable than current ones from “Arcane Conclave” or “Escalation,” for example.
Collector Demand: This is something that very few people take into account, but it is just as important as the other factors. For example, “Gold Foil” versions—such as “Promo” cards—are much scarcer than the rest, so they are worth significantly more to a collector than “Regular Foil” cards.
Top Most Expensive Cards in Splinterlands (Wild Format)
To find out which cards were the most expensive in each format, I used the excellent “Peakmonsters” platform, which is very user-friendly and offers many great filters that allow us to quickly and efficiently identify the most expensive cards as of a specific date, based on various factors that I’ll outline in this section:
With that in mind, the following image shows you which cards are the most “expensive” in the entire game in “Wild Format”:
Top Most Expensive Cards in "Wild Format"
To start with, I thought it would be best to sort these cards by the highest BCX value for each one, which represents the highest cost of each card and essentially reflects their current market value. This gives us the following order of cards and explains why they are the most expensive:
Shin-Lo: This is the most expensive card in the entire game in the "Wild Format" of older editions, specifically from the Alpha set; the highest price on BCX is $188. From what I can see, there is only one card listed at Level 1 with that value. It’s a “Promotional” card, so its price is quite well-established, especially considering that it’s also a card featuring the most powerful Splinter of all: the Dragon.
Frost Giant: This card is also part of the powerful Alpha Set; it’s the Water Splinter and ranks second in terms of highest price per BCX, behind “Shin-Lo.” The highest price per BCX is $62.50, and a fully upgraded copy is valued at $500. This is a natural Tank from that era; personally, I don’t particularly like it, but just for being from the “Alpha” edition, it deserves its place here.
Elemental Phoenix: Like the previous cards, this one belongs to the Alpha Set and is the third card in the set. Its highest price on BCX is $49.88, and it reached its peak price of $399. It is a Splinter Fire card, one of the best of its time—a highly agile and versatile card ideal for almost any situation.
Lightning Dragón: This card could easily be the third one, but I’ll list it as the fourth, following the order in the image. This card has a higher BCX price than the previous one, at $49.88, which means that a card at its current peak value is $399. In the previous post, I talked about this card, which is the one I own; it’s my favorite, one of the best of its era, and belongs to the most powerful Splinter, “Dragon.”
Selenia Sky: A historic Summoner—now known as an “Archon”—would be the 5th card, priced at $43.13 per BCX, and a max-level card at $345, respectively. Back in the day, it was a lethal Summoner; every time it was played, opponents felt they were already going to lose. The ability it grants is to give more firepower to ranged attacks; perhaps it isn’t very relevant now, but at that time, it certainly was. Like the previous one, it also belongs to the Dragon Splinter.
Prince Julian: We’ve moved on to the next edition, and we have a “Promotional” card that was one of the most expensive when it was first released, but it remains one of the top 6 today, with a higher cost per BCX of $40.91; there’s only one listed on the market, priced at $450. It’s a 2-mana summoner with practically no abilities or utility; it’s essentially become an iconic card.
Lord Of Darkness: One of the most powerful cards of its time, which is also part of the Alpha Set and the Death Splinter, with a high BCX cost of $39.99. At this BCX cost, there are no cards listed at the maximum level, but if there were, one would be priced at $439.89. This card was indeed quite strong at the time and was frequently used as a “Tank” in the Death team. Good times.
Gold Dragón: One of the strongest "Dragon" cards ever created, alongside "Lightning Dragon," it ranks among the most powerful cards of that era. It is also an "Alpha" card, and its utility and power are still felt on the field whenever you see it. It has a higher BCX cost of $39.99, and its most expensive cards would have the same value as the previous one, around $439.89.
Final Thoughts

To me, it’s crazy—these cards should be more useful than just working on “Land Plots,” which are already very useful, but are gradually being phased out, and there isn’t much activity in the market surrounding them.
