Splinterlands Weekly Battle Challenge - Dragons!

The strategy

I chose this lineup sort of experiment to take advantage of the Armored Up rule set. Checking the opponent's last battles, I noticed that he did not use a lot of strong tanks, but focused on mixing magic and ranged cards. So, it was not a clear way to counter. I took inspiration from the earlier water strategies, pump the armor, and use magic to pass underneath it.

I could have used Cursed Windeku, but it has got no armor. So, if the majority of the attacks were not going to be magical, I needed something that had a good life and armor combination. Here's where Djinn Chwala comes into play. Bundled with Scavo Hireling, I'd get some superb armor on the tank, and give me at least a couple of turns of a last position protection hits in case there were some sneak cards.

Then, I decided to use the Venari Bonesmith and the Life Sapper, setting them up in the middle could take advantage of their life leech, with some standard speed and a heavily armored tank, I could get at least a couple of rounds without any damage and get their life up. Besides damaging directly to the life and not the armor.

Revisando las últimas batallas del oponente, me di cuenta que no usaba muchos tanques fuertes, pero que se enfocaba en mezclar cartas de magia y rango. Así que, no era había una manera muy clara de contrarrestar. Tomé inspiración en las estrategias anteriores de agua, inflar la armadura y usar magia para pasar por debajo de ella.

Después, decidir usar al Venari Bonesmith y al Life Sapper, colocándolos en el centro podría sacarle ventaja al life leech, con una velocidad estándar y un tanque con armadura pesada, podría tener al menos un par de turnos sin daños y subir su vida. Además de dañar directamente la vida y no la armadura.

The battle

As I thought, there was a mix of ranged and magical attack, a tank that I could consider strong and just one card with sneak, and a magic snipe which could jeopardize my setup... if there were no life leech in place. The Venari Bonesmith was distracting the Death Elemental in a perpetual loop.

By round 3, I was able to get rid of the tank and just a few hits to Chwala's life. Scavo was still alive, and I got through half of the opponent's team, where the sneak was.

It was not up until round 6 when my tank fell, the magic attack was able to finish the life points. The Venari was without extra life, and he had Life Sapper next, fortunately, it was not that pumped up because of the combined damage.

Scavo was just a token in a magic battle. The biggest impact was that my Life Sapper had almost four times its base life. Though, it took two other rounds to finish and get the victory!

Como lo pensaba, hubo una mezcla de ataque de rango y mágico, un tanque que si podría considerar fuerte y solo una carta de sneak, así como una carta de snipe mágico que podría haber puesto en peligro toda mi alineación... sino hubiera tenido life leech. El Venari Bonesmith estaría distrayendo al Death Elemental en un bucle perpetuo.
Para la ronda 3, ya había podido librarme del tanque con tan sólo un par de golpes a la vida de Chwala. Scavo seguía vivo, y ya había llegado hasta la mitad del equipo oponente, donde se encontraba el sneak.
No fue hasta la ronda 6 cuando mi tanque cayó, el ataque mágico había sido capaz de terminar con sus puntos de vida. El Venari no tenía puntos extra de vida, y tenía al Life Sapper a continuación, afortunadamente no estaba tan inflado por el daño combinado. De cualquier manera, tomó otras dos rondas el terminar y ¡obtener la victoria!

The thoughts

My strategy worked, mainly because the opponent didn't use the same strategy and that I had two cards with magic and life leech. Definitely using Djinn Chwala with its combination of armor, life, and skill was a decisive factor in this battle.

I really like the Dragon deck, and the versatility it adds. I'd like to see more of it and perhaps have it combined on some rule sets. It's not that common to see it on regular battles, either. There are plenty of dragon cards that are quite useful and mana-cost effective that, like in this case, can heavily influence the result of the battle.

These weekly challenges and the @splinterlands game in itself are awesome and a great way to get into the whole ecosystem.

Mi estrategia funcionó, principalmente porque el oponente no utilizó la misma y que tuve dos cartas de daño mágico con Life leech. Definitivamente el usar a la Djinn Chwala con la combinación que tiene de armadura, vida y habilidad fue un factor decisivo en esta batalla.
Realmente me gusta el mazo Dragón, y la versatilidad que agrega. Me gustaría ver más de él y quizá tenerlo combinado con algunas reglas. No es tan común verlo en batallas regulares tampoco. Hay una buena cantidad de cartas dragon que son muy útiles y con un costo de maná razonable que, como en este caso, pueden influenciar grandemente el resultado de una batalla.
Estos desafíos semanales y el juego @splinterlands en sí mismo son increíbles y una fantástica manera de ingresar a todo el ecosistema.
