My Card Collection Optimization: Focus on Earth Cards
In the last couple of days I have been trying to resume my activity of publishing and interacting on the Hive blockchain after a period when I had very little time available due to many work commitments of my own and also of my wife who has a small store and at Christmas time I try to help and support her.
Added to the work commitments was also my daughter's fever and all the free time I had in the last 6 days I dedicated to her. Family and loved ones must always take priority over everything.
Today is the first day my daughter does not have a fever and today we also had fun together opening the 82 Chaos Legion packs I received for participating in the buying pool of https://splinter.fi/clp
Participating in the pool organized by @nealmcspadden was a really good choice because the pool reached the Diamond level within the Chaos Legion Holiday Deals promotion with 38000 packs purchased.
I purchased 55 CPL tokens (2700 DEC for CPL) which allowed me to receive 82 Chaos Legion packs and 82 Arkemis The Bear promo cards.
Arkemis the Bear is an interesting card mainly because it has the Halving ability which is a very useful ability in battle but also very rare because besides Arkemis the Bear there are only two other cards that have the Halving ability:
- Trapp Falloway (only usable in Brawls)
- Halfing Alchemist
Today I am resuming sharing the activities of optimizing my card collection which mainly consists of:
- selling cards that are of little use in battle and/or that I never use in battle.
- selling cards that are objectively useful in battle but only at a certain level and that I cannot or will not upgrade
- buying cards that are useful in battle
My gaming goal that I would like to achieve in the short term is to play in Diamond leagues from the very first days of the season and not only on the last day of the season as was often the case in the last few seasons I played.
Today, December 23, 2022, there are 7 and a half days left until the end of the Splinterlands season and I am playing in the Gold II (Wild Format) league and I am still 468 rating points away from entering the Diamond III league.
If I want to achieve my game goal, I must continue to increase the battle strength of my card collection.
In three of my previous posts I have shared my choices for purchasing and/or upgrading cards of the elements Fire, Dragon and Water.
In today's post, I will focus on purchasing and/or upgrading cards from the Earth element.
My purchase and/or upgrade goals
Choosing a card to upgrade or purchase is not an equal choice for all players and could be a better or worse choice based on:
- the type and level of summoners a player has in his or her collection
- to the league in which a player plays or would like to play
- to the budget available
The first cards to consider and evaluate are the summoner type cards.
Earth element summoners
In the image below you can see all the summoner type cards of the Earth element.
There are a total of 9 Earth element summoner cards excluding the Alpha and Gold variants.
In my card collection I have 4 Earth element summoners:
- 1 Lyanna Nature level 3 (+ 2 BCX not combined)
- 1 Mylor Crowling of level 2 (+ 1 BCX)
- 1 Obsidian of level 6 (+ 3 BCX not combined)
- 1 Xander Foxwood of level 4
The Earth element summoner I use most is Obsidian (level 6) but to summon Earth element cards I also use Dragon element summoners a lot:
- Delwyn Dragonscale (level 8)
- Daria Dragonscale (level 6)
I recently upgraded Obsidian from level 5 to level 6.
My goal is to upgrade Obsidian to max level but I want to go step by step and since I play mostly in Gold leagues I don't have an immediate need to upgrade to max level.
Legendary monsters of the Earth element
In the following image you can see the legendary monster cards of the Earth element that I have in my collection.
The card I use the most is Queen Mycelia (level 3)which is really a very useful card in battle because it has three very good abilities:
- Protect
- Amplify
- Triage
I would like to bring Queen Mycelya up to the maximum level but I will only do this when I play in Diamond leagues because only starting from Diamond III league it is possible to use level 4 Queen Mycelia in battle.
Among the legendary cards of the earth element there are two cards that I like and could use as early as level 1:
- Runemancer Florre
- Oaken Behemoth
Runemancer Florre is a card I would use in battles that have a lot of mana available.
Together with Obsidian and Queen Mycelia it would have an extra magic attack point and two armor points.
In battles with Ruleset Super Sneak it would be a great alternative to put in last position supported by abilities like Protect and Triage.
I decided to purchase Runemancer Florre level 1 and chose to use Peakmonsters' Make BID purchase mode.
The lowest price on the market is $11.60 for BCX.
I made a purchase bid of $9.78.
Oaken Behemoth is another card that I like and could come in very handy in battles that have a lot of mana available.
I could use it with either Obsidian or Daria Dragonscale and in both cases would gain an extra point of attack.
Oaken Behemoth has the Void Armor ability that is especially useful against cards that have magic attack.
Although Oaken Behemoth is a card I really like, it is not a priority of mine because it has a relatively high cost per BCX ($20 per BCX) and because I still have good alternatives in my collection to deploy in second position.
I would like to try to purchase a level 1 copy of Oaken Behemoth but at a lower price than the Low Buy price on the market today and for this reason I have chosen the Make BID feature of https://peakmonsters.com/ as my mode of purchase.
At regular time intervals I will monitor the BIDs on Oaken Behemoth and Runemancer Florre so that my Bids are the highest.
Epic monsters of the Earth element
In the following image you can see the Epic monster cards of the element Earth that I have in my collection.
The earth element epic cards I use the most are:
- Brownie level 4
- Grund of level 2
- Magi of the Forest of level 3
The only earth element epic card I decided to upgrade today is Grund.
I have 8 BCX in my collection and my upgrade goal is level 4 = 20 BCX.
I decided to buy 2 level 1 Grund from https://monstermarket.io/ right away to do the upgrade from level 2 to level 3 where Grund acquires an extra melee attack point.
To purchase 2 level 1 Grunds, I spent 2928.70 DEC.
To purchase the other 10 BCX I need to take my Grund from level 3 to level 4, I made a purchase offer on Peakmonsters.
Rare Monsters of the element Earth
In the following image you can see rare monsters of the Earth element that I have in my card collection.
The rare card I use most is Khmer Princess of level 4 which is especially useful in battles that have little mana available such as battles with the Little League ruleset.
I would like to take Khmer Princess to the maximum level because at level 8 she acquires the Triage ability but it has a cost of about $3 per BCX and for the time being I have decided to postpone this upgrade and decided to focus first on cards that are useful to me in battle but also have a relatively low cost per BCX.
Instead, I decided to upgrade Mycelic Slipspawn right away, which has a cost per BCX of less than $0.25.
Cards with the Taunt ability are very useful because they allow you to change the attack targets of opponent cards especially when there are some rulesets such as Equal Opportunity.
In my collection I have:
- 1 Mycelic Slipspawn level 4.
- 3 level 1 Mycelic Slipspawn.
My upgrade goal is level 6.
At level 6 Mycelic Slipspawn acquires an extra magic attack point (2->3), and using it in combination with Obsidian or Delwin Dragonscale would allow me to have a card with the Taunt ability and 4 magic attack points.
To reach my upgrade goal I need to purchase 32 BCX and need to spend $7.68.
I decided to purchase 38 BCX right away and used https://monstermarket.io/ for the purchase.
Common monsters of the element Earth
In the following image you can see the common monsters of the Earth element that I have in my card collection.
Although common there are some cards that are really useful in battle.
So far I have only upgraded to the maximum level two common cards of the earth element:
- Pelacor Mercenary
- Hill Giant
The first card I decided to upgrade today is Biceratops.
Biceratops is a card from the Untamed collection that costs 4 mana and is particularly useful in battles that have little mana available such as Little League battles.
The level that in my opinion has the best battle utility/cost ratio is level 6 which is also my target upgrade.
At level 6 biceratops acquires the Thorns ability whose effect on enemy cards can be amplified by cards that have the Amplify ability such as Queen Mycelia.
Level 6 Biceratops would also become very useful in battles with the Little League, Super Sneak and Melee Mayeem rules.
In my collection I have 26 level 1 Biceratops.
To get level 6 Biceratops I need to buy 74 BCX and I need to spend 6.21$.
The cost I have to incur is relatively low, so I immediately proceed to purchase 74 BCX at https://monstermarket.io/
In the end I preferred to purchase 80 BCX instead of 74 because I found some attractive prices and because I would like to upgrade Biceratops again in the future.
My second upgrade goal related to common cards is Goblin Psychic.
I would like to upgrade Goblin Psychic to maximum level but for now I will upgrade from 6th to 8th level because in Gold leagues I cannot use maximum level Goblin Psychic.
In my collection I have:
- 1 Goblin Psychic of level 6
- 1 Goblin Psychic of level 4
- 1 Goblin Psychic level 1.
To reach my intermediate upgrade goal (level 8) I need to purchase 89 BCX.
The cost per BCX is relatively low: $0.069 and so I proceed with the purchase immediately.
My last upgrade target for today is Mycelic Morphhoid.
It's not a card that can be used frequently because it only attacks from the first position but having a card that costs only 1 mana, has 2 attack points and the Thorns ability can be especially useful in battles with few mana available and with precise battle rules such as Little League, Equalizer, Melee Mayhem, Super Sneak, ...
By the way, the cost for BCX is really low: $0.012
In my collection I have:
- 2 Mycelic Morphhoid level 3 (14 BCX X 2).
- 91 Mycelic Morphhoid level 1.
To reach my upgrade goal, I need to purchase 31 BCX and I made the purchase immediately.
Final Considerations
With the purchases I made today, I continued to increase the battle strength of my card collection.
I now have a collection of cards of the elements Fire, Water, and Dragon and Earth stronger in battle than before.
Now it remains for me to increase the battle strength of the cards in my collection that belong to the Life, Death and Neutral elements but these upgrade choices will be the topic of three of my upcoming posts.
In my optimization activity I try to buy only cards from the Untamed, Chos Legion, Dice and Riftwatchers collections because these are the cards that can be used in both formats of Ranked Battles.
Increasing the battle strength of my card collection by purchasing or upgrading cards that can be used in both the Wild and Modern formats will also give me an additional advantage: the ability to freely choose whether to play in the Wild and Modern formats.
I am considering switching to the Modern format because:
- the entry requirements for leagues are lower
- the rewards are on average higher in the same leagues and compared to the Wild Format because the players who chose to play in the Modern Format are fewer in number than the players who play in the Wild Format.
- If I switch to the Modern format I could rent some of my cards from the Beta collections that have good value in the rental market.
Also the purchases/upgrades I made today and shared in this post in all likelihood will not be enough to return to playing in the Diamond leagues of Splinterlands in the immediate future but I have definitely taken one more step toward this goal of mine.

Negli ultimi due giorni ho cercato di riprendere la mia attività di publicazione e interazione sulla blockchain di Hive dopo un periodo in cui ho avuto davvero poco tempo disponibile a causa di molti impegni lavorativi miei e anche di mia moglie che ha un piccolo negozio e nel periodo natalizio cerco di aiutarla e supportarla.
Agli impegni lavorativi si è aggiunta anche la febbre di mia figlia e tutto il tempo libero che ho avuto a disposizione negli ultimi 6 giorni l'ho dedicato a lei. La famiglia e gli affetti devono avere sempre la priorità su tutto.
Oggi è il primo giorno in cui mia figlia non ha la febbre e oggi ci siamo anche divertiti insieme ad aprire gli 82 pacchi Chaos Legion che ho ricevuto per la partecipazione alla pool di acquisto di https://splinter.fi/clp
Partecipare alla pool organizzata da @nealmcspadden è stata davvero un'ottima scelta perchè la pool ha raggiunto il livello Diamond all'interno della promozione Chaos Legion Holiday Deals con 38000 pacchi acquistati.
Io ho acquistato 55 token CPL (2700 DEC per CPL) che mi hanno permesso di ricevere 82 pacchi Chaos Legion e 82 promo cards Arkemis The Bear.
Arkemis the Bear è una carta interessante soprattutto perchè ha l'abilità Halving che è un'abilità molto utile in battaglia ma anche molto rara perchè oltre ad Arkemis the Bear ci sono solo altre due carte che hanno l'abilità Halving:
- Trapp Falloway (utilizzabile sono nelle Brawls)
- Halfing Alchemist
Oggi riprendo a condividere l'attività di ottimizzazione della mia collezione di carte che consiste principalmente nel:
- vendere le carte che sono poco utili in battaglia e/o che non utilizzo mai in battaglia
- vendere le carte che sono oggettivamente utili in battaglia ma solo ad un determinato livello e che non posso o non ho intenzione di potenziare
- acquistare carte che sono utili in battaglia
Il mio obiettivo di gioco che vorrei raggiungere nel breve periodo è di giocare nelle leghe Diamond fin dai primi giorni della stagione e non solo nell'ultimo giorno della stagione come è avvenuto spesso nelle ultime stagioni da me giocate.
Oggi 23 dicembre 2022 mancano 7 giorni e mezzo alla fine della stagione di Splinterlands e gioco nella lega Gold II (Wild Format) e mi mancano ancora 468 rating points per accedere alla lega Diamond III.
Se voglio raggiungere il mio obiettivo di gioco devo continuare ad aumentare la forza in battaglia della mia collezione di carte.
In tre mie precedenti post ho condiviso le mie scelte di acquisto e/o di upgrade delle carte degli elementi Fire, Dragon e Acqua.
Nel post di oggi mi focalizzerò sull'acquisto e/o l'upgrade delle carte dell'elemento Terra.
I miei obiettivi di acquisto e/o di upgrade
Scegliere una carta da potenziare o da acquistare non è una scelta uguale per tutti i giocatori e potrebbe essere una scelta migliore o peggiore in base:
- al tipo e al livello degli evocatori che un giocatore ha nella sua collezione
- alla lega in cui gioca o vorrebbe giocare un giocatore
- al budget a disposizione
Le prime carte da considerare e da valutare sono le carte di tipo evocatore.
Evocatori dell'elemento Terra
Nell'immagine seguente puoi vedere tutte le carte di tipo evocatore dell'elemento Terra.
Ci sono in totale 9 carte evocatore dell'elemento Terra escludendo le varianti Alpha e Gold.
Nella mia collezione di carte ho 4 evocatori dell'elemento Terra:
- 1 Lyanna Natura di livello 3 (+ 2 BCX non combinati)
- 1 Mylor Crowling di livello 2 (+ 1 BCX)
- 1 Obsidian di livello 6 (+ 3 BCX non combinati)
- 1 Xander Foxwood di livello 4
L'evocatore dell'elemento terra che uso di più è Obsidian (livello 6) ma per evocare le carte dell'elemento Terra uso molto anche gli evocatori dell'elemento Dragone:
- Delwyn Dragonscale (livello 8)
- Daria Dragonscale (livello 6)
Ho da poco fatto l'upgrade di Obsidian dal livello 5 al livello 6.
Il mio obiettivo è di portare Obsidian al massimo livello ma voglio procedere per gradi e poichè gioco prevalentemente nelle leghe Gold non ho la necessità immediata di fare l'upgrade al livello massimo.
Mostri Leggendari dell'elemento Terra
Nell'immagine seguente puoi vedere le carte mostro leggendarie dell'elemento terra che ho nella mia collezione.
La carta che uso di più è Queen Mycelia (livello 3) chè è davvero una carta molto utile in battaglia perchè ha tre ottime abilità:
- Protect
- Amplify
- Triage
Vorrei portare Queen Mycelya al massimo livello ma lo farò solo quando giocherò nelle leghe Diamond perchè solo a partire dalla lega Diamond III è possibile utilizzare in battaglia Queen Mycelia di livello 4.
Tra le carte leggendarie dell'elemento terra ci sono due carte che mi piacciono e che mi potrebbero essere utili già a partire dal livello 1:
- Runemancer Florre
- Oaken Behemoth
Runemancer Florre è una carta che utilizzerei nelle battaglie che hanno molti mana a disposizione.
Isieme a Obsidian e a Queen Mycelia avrebbe un punto di attacco magico in più e due punti armatura.
Nelle battaglie con la Ruleset Super Sneak sarebbe un ottima alternativa da mettere in ultima posizione supportata da abilità come Protect e Triage.
Ho deciso di acquistare Runemancer Florre di livello 1 e per l'acquisto ho scelto di utilizzare la modalità di acquisto Make BID di Peakmonsters.
Il prezzo più basso sul mercato è di 11.60$ per BCX.
Io ho effettuato un offerta di acquisto di 9.78$.
Oaken Behemoth è un'altra carte che mi piace e che potrebbe tornarmi molto utile nelle battaglie che hanno tanti mana a disposizione.
Potrei utilizzarla sia con Obsidian che con Daria Dragonscale e in entrambi i casi acquisterebbe un punto di attacco in più.
Oaken Behemoth ha l'abilità Void Armor che è particolarmente utile contro carte che hanno l'attacco magico.
Anche se Oaken Behemoth è una carta che mi piace molto non è una mia priorità perchè ha un costo per BCX abbastanza alto (20$ per BCX) e perchè nella mia collezione ho comunque valide alternative da schierare in seconda posizione.
Mi piacerebbe provare ad acquistare una copia di Oaken Behemoth di livello 1 ma ad un prezzo inferiore rispetto al prezzo Low Buy presente oggi sul mercato e per questo motivo ho scelto come modalità di acquisto la funzionalità Make BID di https://peakmonsters.com/.
Ad intervalli regolari di tempo monitorerò le offerte BID su Oaken Behemoth e Runemancer Florre in modo che la mia offerta Bid sia sempre la più alta.
Mostri Epici dell'elemento terra
Nell'immagine seguente puoi vedere le carte mostro epiche dell'elemento Terra che ho nella mia collezione.
Le carte epiche dell'elemento terra che uso di più sono:
- Brownie di livello 4
- Grund di livello 2
- Magi of the Forest di livello 3
L'unica carta epica dell'elemento terra che ho deciso di potenziare oggi è Grund.
Nella mia collezione ho 8 BCX e il mio obiettivo di upgrade è il livello 4 = 20 BCX.
Ho deciso di acquistare subito 2 Grund di livello 1 da https://monstermarket.io/ per fare subito l'upgrade dal livello 2 al livello 3 dove Grund acquisisce un punto di attacco da mischia in più.
Per acquistare 2 Grund di livello 1 ho speso 2928.70 DEC.
Per acquistare gli altri 10 BCX che mi servono per portare il mio Grund dal livello 3 al livello 4 ho fatto un offerta di acquisto su Peakmonsters.
Mostri Rari dell'elemento Terra
Nell'immagine seguente puoi vedere i mostri rari dell'elemento Terra che ho nella mia collezione di carte.
La carta rara che uso di più è Khmer Princess di livello 4 che è particolarmente utile nelle battaglie che hanno pochi mana a disposizione come ad esempio le battaglie con la ruleset Little League.
Mi piacerebbe portare Khmer Princess al livello massimo perchè al livello 8 acquisisce l'abilità Triage ma ha un costo di circa 3$ per BCX e per il momento ho deciso di rimandare questo upgrade e ho deciso di focalizzarmi prima sulle carte che sono per me utili in battaglia ma che hanno anche un costo per BCX relativamente basso.
Ho invece deciso di potenziare subito Mycelic Slipspawn che ha un costo per BCX inferiore a 0.25$.
Le carte con l'abilità Taunt sono molto utili perchè permettono di modificare gli obiettivi di attacco delle carte avversarie specialmente quando ci sono alcune rulesets come ad esempio Equal Opportunity.
Nella mia collezione ho:
- 1 Mycelic Slipspawn di livello 4
- 3 Mycelic Slipspawn di livello 1
Il mio obiettivo di upgrade è il livello 6.
Al livello 6 Mycelic Slipspawn acquisisce un punto di attacco magico in più (2->3) e l'utilizzo combinato con Obsidian o Delwin Dragonscale mi permetterebbe di avere una carta con l'abilità Taunt e con un attacco magico di 4 punti.
Per raggiungere il mio obiettivo di upgrade devo acquistare 32 BCX e devo spendere 7.68$.
Ho deciso di acquistare subito 38 BCX e per l'acquisto ho utilizzato https://monstermarket.io/
Mostri Comuni dell'elemento Terra
Nell'immagine seguente puoi vedere i mostri comuni dell'elemento Terra che ho nella mia collezione di carte.
Anche se comuni ci sono delle carte che sono davvero utili in battaglia.
Fino ad oggi ho potenziato al massimo livello solo due carte comuni dell'elemento terra:
- Pelacor Mercenary
- Hill Giant
La prima carta che ho deciso di potenziare oggi è Biceratops.
Biceratops è una carta della collezione Untamed che costa 4 mana ed è particolarmente utile nelle battaglie che hanno pochi mana a disposizione come ad esempio nelle battaglie Little League.
Il livello che secondo me ha il miglior rapporto utilità in battaglia/costo è il sesto livello che è anche il mio obiettivo di upgrade.
Al livello 6 biceratops acquisisce l'abilità Thorns il cui effetto sulle carte nemiche può essere amplificato da carte che hanno l'abilità Amplify come ad esempio Queen Mycelia.
Biceratops di livello 6 diventerebbe molto utile anche nelle battglie con le regole Little League, Super Sneak e Melee Mayeem.
Nella mia collezione ho 26 Biceratops di livello 1.
Per avere Biceratops di livello 6 ho bisogno di acquistare 74 BCX e devo spendere 6.21$.
Il costo che devo sostenere è relativamente basso e quindi procedo subito all'acquisto di 74 BCX su https://monstermarket.io/
Alla fine ho preferito acquistare 80 BCX invece di 74 perchè ho trovato alcuni prezzi interessanti e perchè in futuro vorrei potenziare ancora Biceratops.
Il mio secondo obiettivo di upgrade relativo alle carte comuni è Goblin Psychic.
Vorrei portare Goblin Psychic al massimo livello ma per il momento farò l'upgrade dal sesto all'ottavo livello perchè nelle leghe Gold non posso utilizzare Goblin Psychic di massimo livello.
Nella mia collezione ho:
- 1 Goblin Psychic di livello 6
- 1 Goblin Psychic di livello 4
- 1 Goblin Psychic di livello 1
Per raggiungere il mio obiettivo di upgrade intermedio (livello 8) devo acquistare 89 BCX.
Il costo per BCX è relativamente basso: 0.069$ e quindi procedo subito all'acquisto.
Il mio ultimo obiettivo di upgrade di oggi è Mycelic Morphhoid.
Non è una carta che può essere usata sempre perchè attacca solo dalla prima posizione ma avere una carta che costa solo 1 mana, che ha 2 punti di attacco e l'abilità Thorns può essere particolarmente utile in battaglie con pochi mana a disposizione e con precise regole di battaglia come ad esempio Little League, Equalizer, Melee Mayhem, Super Sneak, ...

Considerazioni Finali
Con gli acquisti che ho effettuato oggi ho continuato ad aumentare la forza in battaglia della mia collezione di carte.
Ho adesso una collezione di carte degli elementi Fuoco, Acqua e Dragone e Terra più forte in battaglia rispetto a prima.
Adesso mi rimane da aumentare la forza in battaglia delle carte nella mia collezione che appartengono agli elementi Vita, Morte e Neutrale ma queste scelte di upgrade saranno l'argomento di tre mie prossimi post.
Nella mia attività di ottimizzazione cerco di acquistare solo carte delle collezioni Untamed, Chos Legion, Dice e Riftwatchers perchè sono le carte che possono essere utilizzate in entrambi i formati delle Ranked Battles.
Aumentare la forza in battaglia della mia collezione di carte acquistando o potenziando carte che possono essere utilizzate in entrambi i formati Wild e Modern mi darà anche un ulteriore vantaggio: la possibilità di scegliere liberamente se giocare nel formato Wild e Modern.
Sto valutando di passare al formato Modern perchè:
- i requisiti di accesso alle leghe sono più bassi
- le ricompense sono mediamente superiori a parità di leghe e rispetto al Wild Format perchè i giocatori che hanno scelto di giocare nel Modern Format sono di numero inferiore rispetto ai giocatori che giocano nel Wild Format.

Vedo che usi davvero tanto la funzione bid di peakmonsters e mi chiedevo: capita spesso che qualcuno, vedendo una tua bids, decida di vendere la carta che cerchi esattamente a quel valore? Perché io, in genere, per sfruttare il cashback di monstermarket, preferisco controllare le carte che mi interessano quotidianamente ed acquistarle quando raggiungono un prezzo che trovo soddisfacente.
Si tratta però di una operazione noiosa e, comunque, spesso non mi consente di acquistare le carte esattamente al valore che vorrei: se con le bids, invece, ci fosse una buona possibilità di acquistarle proprio al prezzo desiderato, forse varrebbe la pena rinunciare al cashback :)

Splinterlands ha tanti assets e tante possibilità di investimento e le tante schermate presenti sul sito posso disorientare all'inizio ma alla base del gioco c'è un gioco di strategia di carte molto semplice da imparare e bastano poche battaglie per capire il meccanismo ;)
