My Chaos Legion Investment: Profit, Roi and Positive Effects after 716 Packs Opened / Profitto, ROI ed Effetti Positivi dopo 716 Pacchi Aperti (ENG/ITA)

On January 17, 2022 the General Sale of Chaos Legion card packs started.
Less than 3 hours before the general sale started, I took the screenshot and checked the number of Chaos Legion card packs sold: 2176860 (source: Splintercards).
Today January 29, 2022 the Chaos Legion card packs sold are 7031125.
In 12 days 4854265 packs of cards have been sold with a daily average sale of 404522 packs per day.
Out of 7031125 packs purchased, only 2897000 were opened, which means that many players have chosen as a strategy to keep the packs of cards to resell them when their price on the market rises.
I chose to follow a different strategy and opened almost all of the Chaos Legion card packs I purchased because playing and conducting Splinterlands battles is something I enjoy and have fun with.
On the first day of the general sale:
- I purchased 660 packs of cards.
- I used 82 VOUCHER tokens.
- I got 82 bonus packs
To buy 660 packs of Chaos Legion cards I spent a total of 2640$ but thanks to the use of VOCHER tokens I also got 82 bonus packs for a total of 747 packs of cards.
The value of the VOUCHER tokens at the time of my purchase was $2.90.
To get 747 packs of Chaos Legion cards I spent $2877.80 (pack purchase cost + VOUCHER token purchase cost)
Opening a card pack without having 5 Alchemical potions and 5 Legendary potions available is never convenient and for this reason I always purchased the necessary potions before opening the card packs.
I purchased 5000 potions (2500 Alchemical + 2500 Legendary potions) whose purchase also allowed me to get free potions and I spent a total of $270.
If I add up all the costs I incurred I get a value of 3147.80$ and this value is the total cost of my investment in the purchase of Chaos Legion packs to date.
In order to make my investment in the purchase of the Chaos Legion packs I have put little external liquidity into Splinterlands because during the presale and during phase 2 of the Chaos Legion pack sale I sold all the VOUCHER tokens I received from the airdrop.
On the first day of the general sale I changed my strategy and bought 82 VOUCHER tokens.
I reinvested all the revenue from the sale of the VOUCHER tokens in the purchase of credits on January 12, 2022 when a HIVE token had a value of $1.37.
Much of my investment was therefore covered by my choice to sell VOUCHER tokens which today are worth less than $2 while on the first day of the presale they were worth more than $23.
Value of the cards I found in the packs
So far I have opened 716 packs and added 3580 cards to my card collection.
In the following three images you can see the legendary cards (gold version), the legendary cards (regular version) and the non-legendary but Gold version cards I found inside the packs.
In addition, the seventh Splinterlands Airdrops card was released today.
As published by Splinterlands in this [post]post the odds of receiving a card from the seventh airdrop were 0.2% for every pack of cards purchased.
In addition, those who had purchased 500 packs prior to the sale of the seven millionth pack of cards were guaranteed to receive a card for every 500 packs purchased.
I with 747 packs of cards purchased had:
- a guarantee of receiving 1 card from the last airdrop
- an additional 49.4% probability of receiving a second card from the airdrop airdrop (247*0.2%)
- a 4% probability of receiving a gold card.
In the previous 3 claims I wasn't lucky because I received the guaranteed minimum number of cards based on the packs of cards I purchased.
Today I was lucky because, even if I didn't find any gold cards, I received 4 Spirit Hoarder cards from the 7th airdrop.
Spirit Hoarder is an interesting card that only costs 3 mana points and has the Triage ability already starting at level 1.
I have yet to evaluate whether to upgrade it to the maximum level but it's a card that at first glance I already like and that will surely come in handy in battle.
Spirit Hoader's current market value (level 1) is $18.
To calculate the total value of the Chaos Legion cards I found in the card packs I opened, I used the Peakmonsters site and its very useful search filters (https://peakmonsters.com/@libertycrypto27/cards)
The value of the Chaos Legion cards in my possession is $3033.12 (using market prices).
To calculate the value of the packs of cards in my possession and not yet opened I have instead considered the value on Hive Engine/Tribal DEX of the best bid (Highest Bid).
I have 31 Chaos Legion packs yet to be opened that have a value of $90.83 ($2.93 * 31)
In order to evaluate and monitor my investment in buying Chaos Legion packs of cards, I created a small chart (image below).
I am satisfied with the financial result I have achieved so far:
- Profit: + $100.15
- ROI: +3.18%
I was also a bit lucky because in 716 opened packs of cards I found 4 gold legendary cards and because I received an average return value per opened pack higher than the average estimated value of a pack of Chaos Legion cards.
But even if I had recorded a negative result I would not have worried at all because I look at the medium-long term and I am convinced that in the future my small prospectus will record much higher values (this is just my personal opinion and is not a financial advice).
To add utility to this post I thought to share the calculations related to the estimated expected profit of a pack of Chaos Legion cards considering the purchase prices on the external markets and on the Splinterlands website that I hope will be useful to those who plan to buy a pack of Chaos Legion cards.
Estimated value and expected profit of a pack of Chaos Legion cards
When I purchased the Chaos Legion card packs (January 17, 2022) the estimated value of a card pack was $5.39.
In the case of buying and opening a pack of cards using both potions the estimated profit was +0.94$ per pack.
Compared to the first day of the general sale, today the estimated value of a pack of cards has decreased because more packs of cards have been opened and consequently the total number of cards from the Chaos Legion collection on the market has increased.
Today January 29, 2022 the estimated value of a Chaos Legion pack is:
$3.61 based on the site's calculations: https://www.splintercards.com/ (using both potions)
3,823$** according to the calculations of https://peakmonsters.com/packs (using both potions)
Based on the current estimated value, buying a pack of Chaos Legion cards from the Splinterlands Shop and opening it after buying the necessary potions produces a negative, albeit small, estimated profit: -0.64$.
This negative value is due to the loss of value of Chaos Legion card packs on external markets such as Hive Engine/TribalDex.
Someone who buys a pack of Chaos Legion cards from the Splinterlands shop and doesn't have to buy potions because they found them inside the chests will still have a negative but smaller expected profit.
On Hive Engine a pack of Chaos Legion cards has a lower purchase cost than the Shop in Splinterlands: $2.93 (Lowest Ask).
This lower price allows for a positive expected estimated profit: +$0.23 but does not allow you to participate in airdrops because each pack of cards only grants an entry into airdrops if purchased from the Splinterlands Shop.
If you buy a pack of Chaos Legion cards from Hive Engine/TribalDEx and you don't have to buy potions because you found them inside the chests, you will have a higher expected positive profit than in the previous case: +0.68$
The positive effects of my investment
Buying 747 packs of Chaos Legion cards allowed me to make a positive profit but even if I had made a negative result, I would not have been unhappy because my calculations above do not take into account some immediate positive effects that my investment in buying Chaos Legion card packs brought.
+ cards = + power score = higher chance of moving up in higher leagues = higher daily and seasonal rewards
With the addition of 3580 Chaos Legion cards to my card collection I have reached a Power score of 433020 points.
Before opening the Chaos Legion packs I had a Power score of less than 300000 points and could only reach the Diamond III league at best.
Now I have a chance to reach the Diamond I league which guarantees:
- + DEC tokens for each battle victory compared to the Diamond III league.
- + 20 chests as an end of season reward compared to the Diamond III league.
+ cards = + strategic battle choices = + battle wins = + DEC per battle win
My card collection is definitely more competitive than in the past.
The time it takes me to complete daily quests has decreased because I have more cards to choose from and I can win more battles than before.
In previous seasons I only reached the Diamond III league on the last day of the season, this season I reached the Diamond III league five days before the end of the season.
+ Cards = + Power Score = + SPS tokens from airdrop = + VOUCHER tokens
The increase in my Power score has also produced an increase in my SPS token airdrop score, and this is another positive effect of my investment in purchasing Chaos Legion packs because I have a goal to reach related to SPS tokens: 50000 tokens.

Il 17 gennaio 2022 è iniziata la General Sale dei pacchi di carte Chaos Legion.
A meno di 3 ore dall'inizio della general sale ho fatto lo screenshot e controllato il numero dei pacchi di carte Chaos Legion venduti: 2176860 (fonte: Splintercards).
Oggi 29 gennaio 2022 i pacchi di carte Chaos Legion venduti sono 7031125
In 12 giorni sono stati venduti 4854265 pacchi di carte con una media giornaliera di 404522 pacchi al giorno.
Su 7031125 pacchi acquistati solo 2897000 sono stati aperti e questo vuol dire che molti giocatori hanno scelto come strategia di conservare i pacchi di carte per rivenderli quando il loro prezzo sul mercato salirà.
Io ho scelto di seguire una strategia diversa e ho aperto quasi tutti i pacchi di carte Chaos Legion che ho acquistato perchè giocare e svolgere le battaglie di Splinterlands è un'attività che mi piace e mi diverte.
Il primo giorno della general sale:
- ho acquistato 660 pacchi di carte
- ho utilizzato 82 token VOUCHER
- ho ottenuto 82 pacchi bonus
Per acquistare 660 pacchi di carte Chaos Legion ho speso in totale 2640$ ma grazie all'utilizzo dei token VOCHER ho ottenuto anche 82 pacchi bonus per un totale di 747 pacchi di carte.
Il valore dei token VOUCHER al momento del mio acquisto era di 2.90$.
Per avere 747 pacchi di carte Chaos Legion ho speso 2877.80$ (costo acquisto pacchi + costo acquisto token VOUCHER)
Aprire un pacco di carte senza avere a disposizione 5 pozioni Alchemiche e 5 pozioni Leggendarie non è mai conveniente e per questo motivo prima di aprire i pacchi di carte ho acquistato sempre le pozioni necessarie.
Ho acquistato 5000 pozioni (2500 Alchemiche + 2500 pozioni Leggendarie) il cui acquisto mi ha permesso di ottenere anche delle pozioni gratuite e ho speso in totale 270$.
Se sommo tutti i costi che ho sostenuto ottengo un valore di 3147.80$ e questo valore è il totale del costo del mio investimento nell'acquisto dei pacchi Chaos Legion fino ad oggi.
Per effettuare il mio investimento nell'acquisto dei pacchi Chaos Legion ho immesso poca liquidità esterna perchè durante la prevendita e durante la fase 2 di vendita dei pacchi Chaos Legion ho venduto tutti i token VOUCHER che ho ricevuto dall'airdrop.
Il primo giorno della general sale ho cambiato strategia e ho acquistao 82 token VOUCHER.
Ho reinvestito tutto il ricavato della vendita dei token VOUCHER nell'acquisto dei crediti il 12 gennaio 2022 quando un token HIVE aveva il valore di 1.37$
Gran parte del mio investimento è stato quindi coperto dalla mia scelta di vendere i token VOUCHER che oggi valgono meno di 2$ mentre il primo giorno della prevendita valevano più di 23$.
Valore delle carte che ho trovato nei pacchi
Fino ad ora ho aperto 716 pacchi e ho aggiunto 3580 carte alla mia collezione di carte.
Nelle tre immagini seguenti puoi vedere le carte leggendarie (gold version), le carte leggendarie (regolar version) e le carte non leggendarie ma in versione Gold che ho trovato all'interno dei pacchi di carte.
Inoltre oggi è stata rilasciata la settima carta degli Airdrops di Splinterlands.
Come pubblicato da Splinterlands in questo post le probabilità di ricevere una carta dal settimo airdrop erano dello 0.2% per ogni pacco di carte acquistato.
Inoltre chi aveva acquistato 500 pacchi prima della vendita del settemilionesimo pacco di carte aveva la garanzia di ricevere una carta per ogni 500 pacchi acquistati.
Io con 747 pacchi di carte acquistati avevo:
- la garanzia di ricevere 1 carta dall'ultimo airdrop
- una probabilità aggiuntiva del 49.4% di ricevere una seconda carta dall'airdrop airdrop (247*0.2%)
- il 4% di probabilità di ricevere una carta in versione gold.
Nei precedenti 3 claim non sono stato fortunato perchè ho ricevuto il numero minimo garantito di carte in base ai pacchi di carte da me acquistati.
Oggi sono stato fortunato perchè, anche se non ho trovato carte in versione gold, ho ricevuto ben 4 carte Spirit Hoarder dal settimo airdrop.
Spirit Hoarder è una carta interessante che costa solo 3 punti di mana e ha l'abilità Triage già a partire dal livello 1.
Devo ancora valutare se potenziarla al massimo livello ma è una carta che a primo impatto già mi piace e che sicuramente mi tornerà utile in battaglia.
Il valore di mercato attuale di Spirit Hoader (livello 1) è di 18$.
Per calcolare il valore totale delle carte Chaos Legion che ho trovato nei pacchi di carte che ho aperto ho utilizzato il sito Peakmonsters e i suoi utilissimi filtri di ricerca (https://peakmonsters.com/@libertycrypto27/cards)
Il valore delle carte Chaos Legion in mio possesso è di 3033.12$ (utilizzando i prezzi di mercato).
Per calcolare il valore dei pacchi di carte in mio possesso e non ancora aperti ho invece considerato il valore su Hive Engine/Tribal DEX della migliore offerta di acquisto (Highest Bid).
Ho 31 pacchi Chaos Legion ancora da aprire che hanno un valore di 90.83$ (2.93$ * 31)
Per valutare e monitorare il mio investimento nell'acquisto dei pacchi di carte Chaos Legion ho creato un piccolo prospetto (immagine seguente).
Sono soddisfatto del risultato finanziario che ho ottenuto fino ad ora:
- Profitto: + 100.15$

Sono stato anche un pò fortunato perchè in 716 pacchi di carte aperti ho trovato 4 carte leggendarie dorate e perchè ho ricevuto un valore di ritorno medio per pacco aperto superiore al valore stimato medio di un pacco di carte Chaos Legion.
Ma anche se avessi registrato un risultato negativo non mi sarei per niente preoccupato perchè io guardo al medio-lungo periodo e sono convinto che in futuro il mio piccolo prospetto registrerà valori ben più alti (è solo la mia personale opinione e non è un consiglio finanziario).
Per aggiungere utilità a questo mio post ho pensato di condividere i calcoli relativi al profitto atteso stimato di un pacco di carte Chaos Legion considerando i prezzi di acquisto presenti sui mercati esterni e sul sito di Splinterlands che spero possano essere utili ha chi ha intenzione di comprare un pacco di carte Chaos Legion.
Valore Stimato e Profitto atteso di un pacco di carte Chaos Legion
Quando ho acquistato i pacchi di carte Chaos Legion (17 gennaio 2022) il valore stimato di un pacco di carte era di 5.39$.
Nel caso di acquisto e apertura di un pacco di carte utilizzando entrambe le pozioni il profitto stimato era di +0.94$ per ogni pacco.
Rispetto al primo giorno della general sale, oggi il valore stimato di un pacco di carte è diminuito perchè sono stati aperti più pacchi di carte e di conseguenza è aumentato il numero complessivo di carte della collezione Chaos Legion presenti sul mercato.
Oggi 29 gennaio 2022 il valore stimato di un pacco Chaos Legion è di:
3.61$ in base ai calcoli del sito: https://www.splintercards.com/ (utilizzo di entrambe le pozioni)
3.823$ in base ai calcoli del sito https://peakmonsters.com/packs (utilizzo di entrambe le pozioni)
In base al valore stimato attuale comprare un pacco di carte Chaos Legion dallo Shop di Splinterlands e aprirlo dopo aver comprato le pozioni necessarie produce un profitto stimato negativo anche se piccolo: -0.64$.
Questo valore negativo è dovuto alla perdita di valore dei pacchi di carte Chaos Legion sui mercati esterni come Hive Engine/TribalDex.
Chi compra un pacco di carte Chaos Legion dallo shop di Splinterlands e non deve acquistare le pozioni perchè le ha trovate all'interno dei forzieri avrà un profitto atteso comunque negativo ma più piccolo.
Su Hive Engine un pacco di carte Chaos Legion ha un costo di acquisto inferiore rispetto alla Shop di Splinterlands: 2.93$ (Lowest Ask)
Questo prezzo inferiore permette di ottenere un profitto stimato atteso positivo: +0.23$ ma non permette di partecipare agli airdrops perchè ogni pacco di carte garantisce un'entrata agli airdrops solo se acquistato dallo Shop di Splinterlands.
Chi compra un pacco di carte Chaos Legion da Hive Engine/TribalDEx e non deve acquistare le pozioni perchè le ha trovate all'interno dei forzieri avrà un profitto atteso positivo più alto del caso precedente: +0.68$
Gli effetti positivi del mio investimento
Acquistare 747 pacchi di carte Chaos Legion mi ha permesso di ottenere un profitto positivo ma anche se avessi ottenuto un risultato negativo non sarei stato scontento perchè i miei calcoli sopra non tengono conto di alcuni effetti positivi immediati che ha portato il mio investimento nell'acquisto dei pacchi di carte Chaos Legion.
+ carte = + punteggio power = maggiore possibilità di salire nelle leghe più alte = maggiori ricompense giornaliere e stagionali
Con l'aggiunta di 3580 carte Chaos Legion alla mia collezione di carte ho raggiunto un punteggio Power di 433020 punti.
Prima di aprire i pacchi Chaos Legion avevo un punteggio Power inferiore ai 300000 punti e potevo arrivare al massimo nella lega Diamond III.
Adesso ho la possibilità di raggiungere la lega Diamond I che garantisce:
- + token DEC per ogni vittoria in battaglia rispetto alla lega Diamond III
- + 20 forzieri come ricompensa di fine stagione rispetto alla lega Diamond III.
+ carte = + scelte strategiche in battaglia = + vittorie in battaglia = + DEC per ogni vittoria in battaglia
La mia collezione di carte è decisamente più competitiva rispetto al passato.
Il tempo che impiego per completare le missioni giornaliere è diminuito perchè avendo più carte tra cui scegliere riesco a vincere un numero maggiore di battaglie rispetto a prima.
Nelle precedenti stagioni raggiungevo la lega Diamond III solo l'ultimo giorno della stagione, in questa stagione ho raggiunto la lega Diamond III cinque giorni prima della fine della stagione.
+ Carte = + Punteggio Power = + token SPS dall'airdrop = + token VOUCHER
L'aumento del mio punteggio Power ha prodotto anche un incremento del mio punteggio per l'airdrop dei token SPS e questo è un'altro effetto positivo del mio investimento nell'acquisto dei pacchi Chaos Legion perchè ho un obiettivo da raggiungere relativo ai token SPS: 50000 token.

Ottimo articolo, come sempre del resto, e risultati semplicemente strepitosi, nati da un'attenta strategia che, peraltro, avevi condiviso, e che io ho fatto l'errore di non seguire, perché preso dalla FOMO, che mi ha portato a sprecare i voucher per acquistare subito un centinaio di pacchetti durante la prima pre sale.
Col senno di poi, e vedendo i tuoi risultati, mi rendo conto di aver fatto un enorme cavolata, ma, ormai, oserei dire che è inutile piangere sul latte versato perché le cose sono fatte e non possono essere cambiate.😕
Ora sto valutando, e molto seriamente il da farsi per potermi permettere di fare un acquisto, abbastanza consistente, di pacchetti di questa espansione, e mi piacerebbe riuscire a farlo senza investire soldi di tasca mia, così come hai fatto tu...
Un'idea che mi sta balenando per la testa sarebbe quella di mettere in vendita una delle carte più preziose che ho nel mio mazzo, ovvero una copia di Zalran Efreet, carta leggendaria dorata dell'elemento fuoco, che ha un valore stimato di circa 2800 dollari e che mi consentirebbe, quindi, di fare cassa e di fare un bel po' di acquisti...🤑
Il problema è, che, sinceramente, sono molto indeciso sul da farsi perché sembra essere una carta abbastanza rara e preziosa (su Peakmonster sembra indicare Total Cards: 75) che in futuro potrebbe anche salire ulteriormente di prezzo...
Potrei, al limite, fare un tentativo di metterla in vendita ad un prezzo ancora più alto e vedere che cosa succede, ma ammetto di essere ancora parecchio indeciso.
Resta il fatto che, al più presto possibile, devo trovare un modo per fare anch'io un po' di acquisti ed andare ad incrementare, non tanto la potenza del mio mazzo di carte, che già attualmente mi consentirebbe di arrivare a leghe quali la Champions, ma, piuttosto, cercare di incrementare un po' le carte in mio possesso nella speranza, in primis di permettermi più scelta di strategie e schieramenti utilizzabili durante le varie sfide, ma anche di inserire all'interno dei miei asset di gioco carte preziose che possano in futuro a incrementare ulteriormente di valore.
Vedremo che fare nei prossimi giorni... 🤔

l'avessi tenuta oggi avrei il triplo del valore che ho ottenuto.
Penso comunque che vendere una carta per prenderne molte altre è un pò come diversificare all'interno dello stesso investimento.
Vendere o tenere una carta soprattutto se gold e leggendaria è sempre una scelta difficile da fare...ti capisco ;)

Da un lato mi sono praticamente affezionato a questa carta, che tra l'altro è una delle più preziose del mio mazzo, con il valore più alto, ma, dall'altro, mi potrebbe tornare molto utile per fare un bel po' di acquisti senza mettere le mani al portafoglio, cosa che vorrei evitare...
Ammetto di conseguenza di essere piuttosto indeciso e di non sapere proprio che pesci prendere-
Allo stesso tempo, però, non posso neanche rimandare in eterno una decisione che prima o poi devo per forza prendere.
Vorrà dire che Nella peggiore delle ipotesi mi ridurrò ha un bel lancio di monetina in aria e sceglierò tra testa o croce 🤣🤣🤣
