Sell or Buy? My Trades Even If I Am Not a Trader!
Splinterlands is my favourite blockchain-based game because:
- I like playing the game
- I like to post Splinterlands related content on my Hive blog
- it has a lot of assets (tokens and NFTs) and offers a lot of investment possibilities
- it is a game developed on the Hive blockchain which is my favourite blockchain project.
In today's post I want to share my investment strategies related to DEC tokens which are the result of my personal considerations and evaluations.
I would like to emphasise at the outset of this post that although I try to put passion and commitment into everything I do, I am not a trader, I am simply a Splinterlands player who enjoys trying to predict the possible future value of the tokens of my favourite blockchain game and therefore do not in any way take my personal evaluations and considerations as financial advice!
For the past few months I have been trying and enjoying trading the tokens of the blockchain-based games I follow, play and have invested in.
The goal of this newbie activity of mine is to increase the weight of my position in games where I see potential and/or increase my Hive Power.
So far some buy and sell trades have gone well for me while others have gone badly but all in all I am satisfied with the results I am getting.
Today I looked at the chart of DEC tokens on TribalDex and on Coingecko over a 90 day time frame.
When I look at a chart I like to note the date when a strong change in value occurred both negatively and positively and then I have fun trying to find out why this change in value occurred.
Coingecko marks 23 August 2022 as the time when the DEC token had its highest value in the last 90 days: 0.00082623$.
Only 5 days earlier (18 August 2022) a DEC token was worth 0.00052634$.
The value of a DEC token increased by +56.9765% in a time span of just over 5 days (18 August - 23 August).
What caused this sudden increase in value?
I have tried to answer this question and you can read my reasoning for this below.
On 16 August 2022 Splinterlands announced in a post the replacement of Ranked Battles rewards from DEC tokens to SPS tokens** (DEC-->SPS) but did not specify the date on which this change would take place:
Team is still targeting the end of August to release SPS rewards for Ranked battles.
This change consists of rewarding SPS instead of DEC for winning battles and opening reward chests
This announcement did not result in an increase in the value of DEC tokens but the opposite happened because two days later a DEC token had lost value:
- 1 DEC = 0.00055418 (16 August 2022)
- 1 DEC = 0.00052634 (18 August 2022)
On 20 August 2022, the date on which SPS tokens would replace DEC tokens was announced: 23 August 2022.
This time the announcement including the date had an effect on the value of the DEC token and indeed it was on 20 August that a steep rise in the chart began.
On 23 August, the actual change from DEC tokens to SPS tokens as a reward for Ranked Battles was announced, and this change took place the next day.
And it was on 23 August that DEC tokens recorded their highest market value in a 90-day period.
The change between DEC and SPS in the Ranked Battles rewards resulted in a decrease in the emission of DEC tokens and this change led to a positive valuation by Splinterlands players/investors, which is why the value of DEC tokens increased by +59% in 5 days.
In the days following the 23rd of August the value of DEC tokens decreased, 0.00065135$ (27 August 2022) and then stabilised around a value of 0.66-0.67$ until 14 September 2022 when the value dropped to 0.00056373$ and then immediately rose again to a value of 0.00076034$ on 18 September 2022.
Why did DEC tokens lose a lot of value on 14 September and then immediately recover in the following days*?
In my opinion, the answer to the previous question is related to the Riftwatchers presale.
On 15 September 2022 there was the Presale of the Riftwatchers packs that could only be purchased with SPS tokens.
The decrease in value of DEC tokens on 14 September may have been caused by the sale of DEC tokens by those who wanted to participate in the presale but had no SPS tokens in their wallet but had DEC tokens to sell to buy SPS tokens.
My assumption could be supported by the observation that on 14 September DEC tokens lost value while SPS tokens were in full bullish trend (see image below).
In fact as the Presale Riftwatchers approached, the SPS tokens started to increase in value ($0.053 - 1 September 2022) until they reached a maximum value of $0.088560 in the first minutes of September 16 (2:04 AM) when the Presale Riftwatchers had recently ended.
The Riftwatchers presale was a success and packs of cards were sold out within minutes.
After the Riftwatchers presale ended, the SPS tokens began to lose some of their value until they reached their current value of $0.071.
On 20 September 2022 there was the presale Tower Defense and the packs were purchasable with DEC tokens + 1 VOUCHER per pack.
I also participated in the SPLTD presale, spent 760000 DEC and purchased 167 packs of Tower Defense cards.
Just on 20 September, DEC tokens reached the third highest value recorded in the last 90 days: $0.00076889.
Shortly after the end of the Tower Defense presale, DEC tokens lost value in exactly the same way as SPS tokens after the Riftwatchers presale.
In the last 90 days there have been two major events:
- the presale Riftwatchers (15 September 2022)
- the presale Tower Defense (20 September 2022)
DEC tokens were the most widely used payment method for purchasing Tower Defense packages.
SPS tokens were the most popular payment method used to purchase Riftwatchers parcels.
Based on the "past behaviour" of the value of the SPS tokens before and after the Riftwatchers presale and based on the past behaviour of the value of the DEC tokens before and after the announcement of the switch between DEC tokens and SPS tokens for Ranked Battles rewards, I implemented my DEC token trading strategy.
Immediately after the end of the Tower Defense presale I put 500000 DEC tokens up for sale.
In the following days I continued to sell more DEC tokens.
Between 20 September and 22 September I sold a total of 700000 DEC tokens with the goal of buying them back in the following days if the DEC tokens had the same drop as the SPS tokens had in the days following the presale.
From the sale of 700k DEC tokens I got 990.83 SWAP.HIVE.
On 29 September I placed an offer to sell another 50000 DEC tokens at a sale price of 0.00146791 SWAP.HIVE for DEC but my offer was not matched.
Today the value of the DEC tokens dropped from the value they had on 20 and 22 September and I placed a bid which was accepted after a few minutes.
Afterwards I placed a new offer to buy 68222 DEC tokens at a price of 0.00124 SWAP.HIVE per DEC.
If my last purchase offer is accepted I will have the same amount of DEC tokens that I had on 20 September 2022 (700K DEC) and at the same time will have realised a profit of 46.28 SWAP.HIVE
Final Considerations
The DEC tokens and SPS tokens had a very similar "behaviour" before and after the presales that saw them directly involved as the main method of payment:
- they peaked in value a few hours after the end of the presale in which they were the main method of payment.
- they lost value in the days following the presale.
Based on this "common behaviour" of SPS tokens and DEC tokens I will base my future investment strategies on Splinterlands tokens.
Whether my strategy as a simple Splinterlands player who wants to play trader will be profitable or not only time will tell.
On 18 October, there will be the pre-sale of the packs of the new Genesis Soccer League game.
What will be the chosen method of payment for purchasing the G. Soccer League packs?
If DEC tokens will be the payment method, will the same pre- and post-presale Tower Defense value trend occur?
My strategy will most probably be as follows:
- I will buy the tokens that can be used as a payment method immediately after the official announcement.
- I will sell the tokens immediately after the presale is over.
If I make a profit from this I will be able to buy more Genesis Soccer League packs because it is a project I am very interested in. If not, I will still have had fun and will have increased my experience in evaluating market situations.
When you make mistakes you learn and I'm not afraid to make mistakes ;)
Splinterlands is a beautiful and fun game but it is also an investment and I owe a lot to Splinterlands because based on my experience on Splinterlands I was able to make profitable trades in my investments in other blockchain based games.

- mi piace pubblicare contenuti inerenti a Splinterlands sul mio Hive blog
- ha tanti assets e offre tante possibilità di investimento
- è un gioco sviluppato sulla blockchain di Hive che è il mio progetto blockchain preferito.
Nel post di oggi voglio condividere le mie strategie di investimento relative ai token DEC che sono il frutto delle mie personali considerazioni e delle mie personali valutazioni.
Ci tengo a sottolineare fin da subito scrivendo volutamente in grassetto e all'inizio di questo post che anche se in tutto quello che faccio cerco di metterci passione e impegno non sono un trader, sono un semplice giocatore di Splinterlands che oggi e in questo post vuole divertirsi a prevedere il possibile valore futuro dei token del mio gioco blockchain preferito e quindi non prendere e in alcun modo le mie personali valutazioni come consigli finanziari!
E' da pochi mesi che provo a fare operazioni di trading sui token dei giochi basati su blockchain che seguo, su cui gioco e su cui ho investito.
L'obiettivo di questa mia attività da principiante è aumentare il peso della mia posizione nei giochi in cui vedo potenziale e/o aumentare il mio Hive Power.
Fino ad ora alcune operazioni di acquisto e vendita mi sono andate bene mentre altre male ma tutto sommato sono soddisfatto dei risultati che sto ottenendo.
Oggi guardavo il grafico dei token DEC su TribalDex e su Coingecko in un intervallo di tempo di 90 giorni.
Quando guardo un grafico mi piace annotare la data in cui è avvenuta una forte variazione di valore sia in negativo che e in positivo e poi mi diverto a cercare di scoprire il perchè è avvenuta questa variazione di valore.
Coingecko segna il 23 agosto 2022 come il momento in cui il token DEC ha avuto il valore più alto negli ultimi 90 giorni: 0.00082623$.
Solo 5 giorni prima (18 agosto 2022) un token DEC valeva 0.00052634$
Il valore di un token DEC è aumentato del +56.9765% in un intervallo di tempo di poco più di 5 giorni (18 agosto - 23 agosto).
Cosa ha causato questo repentino aumento di valore?
Ho provato a dare una risposta a questa domanda e di seguito puoi leggere i miei ragionamenti a riguardo.
Il 16 agosto 2022 Splinterlands ha annunciato in un post la sostituzione delle ricompense delle Ranked Battles dai token DEC ai token SPS (DEC-->SPS) ma non ha specificato la data in cui sarebbe avvenuto questo cambio:

Questo annuncio non ha prodotto un aumento del valore dei token DEC ma è avvenuto il contrario perchè due giorni dopo un token DEC aveva perso valore:
- 1 DEC = 0.00055418 (16 agosto 2022)
- 1 DEC = 0.00052634 (18 agosto 2022)
Il 20 agosto 2022 è stata annunciata la data in cui i token SPS avrebbero sostituito i token DEC: il 23 agosto 2022.
Questa volta l'annuncio comprensivo di data ha prodotto un effetto sul valore del token DEC e infatti proprio il 20 agosto è iniziata una ripida salita nel grafico.
Il 23 agosto è stato annunciato l'effettivo passaggio dai token DEC ai token SPS come ricompensa delle Ranked Battles, cambio che è avvenuto il giorno dopo.
Ed è stato proprio il 23 agosto il giorno in cui i token DEC hanno registrato il valore di mercato più alto in un intervallo di tempo di 90 giorni.
Il cambio tra DEC e SPS nelle ricompense delle Ranked Battles ha prodotto una diminuzione dell'emissione dei token DEC e questa modifica ha portato ad una valutazione positiva da parte dei giocatori/investitori di Splinterlands ed è per questo motivo che il valore dei token DEC è aumentato del +59% in 5 giorni.
Nei giorni successivi al 23 agosto il valore dei token DEC è diminuito, 0.00065135$ (27 agosto 2022) per poi stabilizzarsi intorno ad un valore di 0.66-0.67$ fino al 14 settembre 2022 giorno in cui il valore è sceso fino a 0.00056373$ per poi subito risalire ad un valore di 0.00076034$ il 18 settembre 2022.
Come mai il 14 settembre i token DEC hanno perso molto valore per poi recuperarlo subito?
Secondo me la risposta alla domanda precedente è collegata alla presale Riftwatchers.
Il 15 settembre 2022 c'è stata la Presale dei pacchi Riftwatchers acquistabili esclusivamente con i token SPS.
La diminuzione di valore dei token DEC del 14 settembre potrebbe essere stata causata dalla vendita dei token DEC da parte di chi voleva partecipare alla prevendita ma non aveva token SPS nel suo wallet ma aveva token DEC da vendere per acquistare token SPS.
La mia supposizione potrebbe essere avvalorata dalla constatazione del fatto che il 14 settembre i token DEC hanno perso valore mentre i token SPS erano in pieno trend rialzista (vedi immagine seguente).
Infatti con l'avvicinarsi della Presale Riftwatchers i token SPS hanno iniziato ad aumentare il loro valore (0.053$ - 1 settembre 2022) fino ad arrivare ad un valore massimo di 0.088560$ nei primi minuti del 16 settembre (ore 2:04 AM) quando la presale Riftwatchers era terminata da poco tempo.
La presale Riftwatchers è stata un successo e i pacchi di carte sono stati venduti in pochi minuti.
Terminata la presale Riftwatchers i token SPS hanno iniziato a perdere parte del loro valore fino ad arrivare al valore attuale di 0.071$.
Il 20 settembre 2022 c'è stata la presale Tower Defense e i pacchi erano acquistabili con i token DEC + 1 VOUCHER per ogni pacco.
Anche io ho partecipato alla presale SPLTD, ho speso 760000 DEC e ho acquistato 167 pacchi di carte Tower Defense.
Proprio il 20 settembre i token DEC hanno raggiunto il terzo valore più alto registrato negli ultimi 90 giorni: 0.00076889$.
Poco dopo la fine della presale Tower Defense i token DEC hanno registrato una perdita di valore esattamente come i token SPS dopo la prevendita Riftwatchers.
Negli ultimi 90 giorni ci sono stati due eventi importanti:
- la presale Riftwatchers (15 settembre 2022)
- la presale Tower Defense (20 settembre 2022)
I token DEC sono stati il metodo di pagamento maggiormente utilizzato per l'acquisto dei pacchi Tower Defense
I token SPS sono stati il metodo di pagamento maggiormente utilizzato per l'acquisto dei pacchi Riftwatchers
In base al comportamento passato del valore dei token SPS prima e dopo la prevendita Riftwatchers e in base al comportamento passato del valore dei token DEC prima e dopo l'annuncio dello switch tra token DEC e token SPS per le ricompense delle Ranked Battles ho attuato la mia strategia di trading sui token DEC.
Subito dopo la fine della presale Tower Defense ho messo in vendita 500000 token DEC.
Nei giorni successivi ho continuato a vendere altri token DEC.
Tra il 20 settembre e il 22 settembre ho venduto un totale di 700000 token DEC con l'obiettivo di ricomprarli nei giorni successivi se i token DEC avessero avuto lo stesso calo avuto dai token SPS nei giorni successivi alla prevendita.
Dalla vendita di 700k DEC ho ottenuto 990.83 SWAP.HIVE.
Il 29 settembre ho effettuato una offerta di vendita di altri 50000 token DEC al prezzo di vendita di 0.00146791 SWAP.HIVE per DEC ma la mia offerta non è stata abbinata.
Oggi il valore dei token DEC è sceso rispetto al valore che avevano il 20 e 22 settembre è ho piazzato un'offerta di acquisto che dopo pochi minuti è stata accettata.
Dopo ho inserito una nuova offerta di acquisto di 68222 token DEC al prezzo di 0.00124 SWAP.HIVE per DEC.
Se la mia ultima offerta di acquisto sarà accettata avrò lo stesso quantitativo di token DEC che avevo il 20 settembre 2022 (700K DEC) e allo stesso tempo avrò realizzato un profitto di 46.28 SWAP.HIVE
Considerazioni Finali
I token DEC e i token SPS hanno avuto un "comportamento" molto simile prima e dopo le presales che li vedevano direttamente coinvolti come metodo principale di pagamento:
- hanno raggiunto il massimo valore poche ore dopo la fine della prevendita in cui erano il metodo principale di pagamento.
- hanno perso valore nei giorni successivi alla prevendita.
In base a questo "comportamento comune" dei token SPS e dei token DEC baserò le mie strategie future di investimento sui token di Splinterlands
Se la mia strategia da semplice giocatore di Splinterlands che vuole giocare a fare il trader sarà profittevole o meno solo il tempo potrà dirlo.
Il 18 ottobre ci sarà la prevendita dei pacchi del nuovo gioco Genesis Soccer League.
Quale sarà il metodo di pagamento scelto per acquistare i pacchi di carte?
Se saranno i token DEC il metodo di pagamento si verificherà lo stesso andamento di valore pre e post presale Tower Defense?
Qualunque sarà il metodo di pagamento scelto la mia strategia sarà con molta probabilità la seguente:
- acquisterò i token utilizzabili come metodo di pagamento subito dopo l'annuncio ufficiale
- venderò i token subito dopo che la prevendita sarà terminata
Se otterrò un profitto da questa operazione potrò acquistare un numero maggiore di pacchi Genesis Soccer League perchè è un progetto che mi interessa molto. Nel caso contrario mi sarò comunque divertito e avrò aumentato la mia esperienza nel valutare le situazioni di mercato.
Sbagliando si impara e io non ho paura di sbagliare ;)
Splinterlands è un gioco bello e divertente ma è anche un investimento e devo molto a Splinterlands perchè sulla base della mia esperienza su Splinterlands ho potuto effettuare operazioni profittevoli nei miei investimenti in altri giochi basati su blockchain.

It looks like DEC does move along with the pre-sales. It makes sense since 1k DEC is treated for around $1 and it's cheaper than buying credits off the shop.

Grandioso e molto molto interessante.
Mi piacerebbe cimentarmi, ma il problema principale è avere i fondi per farlo. Sto cercando di consolidare la mia posizione nei giochi che seguo e questo significa dover fare dei compromessi.

Wow, sarà anche che non sei un trader, ma rispetto alle scemenze che leggo di solito da parte di persone che si proclamano "esperti", tutto quello che hai scritto si basa su dati concreti ed oggettivi, per cui sembra assolutamente condivisibile.

Diciamo che mi miace giocare e correre qualche rischio calcolato ma solo se investo poco e soprattutto quando ho una conoscenza e un esperienza ridotta come in questo caso.
anche io come te ho sempre avuto paura di sbagliare soprattutto in passato e ho spesso adottato un profilo di basso rischio in quasi tutti gli investimenti che ho fatto e questo mio approccio mi ha fatto perdere delle occasioni ma mi ha anche evitato dei rischi grossi.
Ma ora è arrivato il momento di rischiare qualcosa in più ma sempre con il focus sul divertimento e sull'ampliamento delle conoscenze ;)

Ciao Liberty: OFF TOPIC, in questo post ho notato il token PIMP, cosa è? Scusa ma adesso inizio a tediarti con i token di secondo livello... sono sicuro che mi perdonerai.
Ciao @stefano.massari puoi farmi tutte le domande che vuoi.
PIMP è un token di secondo livello collegato al tag pimp che puoi usare in tutti i post perchè è un tag generalista.
Se li metti in stake guadagni token PIMP votando post con il tag pimp e se entri nella top 100 ricevi anche delle ricompense giornaliere.
Io ho più di 3000 token PIMP in stake e le ultime ricompense che ho ricevuto le puoi vedere nello screenshot seguente.
Se hai 1000 token PIMP in stake puoi mandare un comando !PIMP al giorno come ho fatto io adesso.
Se ne hai 10000 puoi mandare più comandi al giorno.
Quando ti ho consigliato di usare sempre 10 tag nel tuo post è perchè se posti solo senza mettere anche i tag giusti e che ti fanno guadagnare dei token perdi un'opportunità a costo 0.
Accumulo i token PIMP da poco tempo e guarda quanto valore ho raccolto e con impiego di tempo 0 perchè mettere un tag costa 0 ;)

Eccellente! Grazie Liberty per la tua pazienza, adesso sto iniziando a fare una lista di questi token da usare nei TAG. Grazie per aver specificato che il token PIMP è di carattere generale. Inoltre sto iniziando a visionare anche vari front-end di HIVE come Vybrainium. Sto usando anche Splintertalk 1 volta alla settimana. Hive è sorprendente… ed ho scoperto che leggere e curare i post mi piace sempre. Quindi, faccio un passo indietro, ora imparo i token di secondo livello, poi inizio ad esplorare ancora meglio i vari front-end di Hive.
