The First Splinterlands Anti-BOT Proposal! A Proposal in the Right Direction!
I am now losing count of the number of Hive-based games I play or have invested in.
Splinterlands was my first blockchain-based game and even today, almost 4 years after my first battle, it is still my favorite game.
Of all the games I play Splinterlands is the most complete and structured from all points of view:
- Development
- Promotion
- Game dynamics
- Tokenomics
- Usability
- Support
In addition, Splinterlands is a Hive-based game, and this is an additional advantage and added value.
Another important and valuable aspect of Splinterlands is the large community of players who play, invest, write content on the Hive blockchain and interact and compare with each other.
For the Splinterlands community, there is an important element of interaction and comparison: the Proposals system that is accessible from the DASHBOARD of the Splinterlands website.
Through the Proposals system Players of Splinterlands can:
- vote on proposals submitted by Splinterlands.
- create and submit their own proposals
- vote on proposals submitted by other players.

The weight of voting in proposals is determined by the amount of Splintershards (SPS) Staked tokens of those who vote.
I enjoy playing on Splinterlands and one of my goals is to accumulate a total of at least 100K SPS Staked.
Just today I passed the threshold of 58K SPS staked so I am 58% of the way to my goal.
The SPS tokens have different use cases and the possibility of having a say in decisions about the future of Splinterlands is one of the reasons why I want to increase the amount of SPS tokens in my possession.
There is currently a vote in progress on a very interesting proposal because it is the first proposal regarding the use of BOTs in Splinterlands game::
It is possible to read the full proposal by clicking on the proposal title and to vote you need to click on the two arrows within the proposal box:
- up arrow to cast an affirmative vote
- down arrow to cast a vote against it
If the proposal gets at least 66.67% of votes in favor it will pass and Splinterlands will implement an anti-bot system to prevent bots from playing against human players in Modern Format Ranked Battles.
It's only my personal opinion but I have always considered allowing the use of BOTs in Splinterlands gameplay a highly counterproductive choice for the future of Splinterlands.
What is the advantage of permitting the use of BOTs in a PvP strategy game?
The only advantage is that BOTs reduce the time spent waiting for a battle to begin in time windows where there are few active players.
But is this a real advantage?
In my opinion, no because implementing BOTs managed by Splinterlands that do not receive rewards (or burn them) would be a much more efficient solution for a game that has at its base a Player Vs Player card strategy game.
If you know of any advantages of using private BOTs in a PvP game please write them in the comments because I can't find a single one!
Are there any concrete examples of games that have achieved success due to the presence of BOTs?
I don't know of any!

Yes!
If it were up to me I would also oust BOTs from the Wild format and create a format just for BOTs.
The rewards would be divided like this:
- Wild Format: human players only + only Splinterlands bots (33.33%)
- Modern Format: human players only + only Splinterlands bots (33.33%)
- BOT Format: Bots and human players (33.33%)
In the Wild Format and Modern Format there would be only BOTs created by Splinterlands that would come into play only when the number of active players is small.
Dear reader, I have decided to vote for the proposal on the introduction of anti-bot measures in the Modern Format because I don't see a good future for my favorite blockchain game if BOTs were to outnumber human players by large numbers.
My vote was not sufficient to pass the 66.7% favorable vote but there are still 6 days left to vote.
When I play a Splinterlands battle I often ask myself the following question:
Am I playing against a BOT or a player?
I prefer to play chess against a person instead of a computer.
I prefer to talk and confront a person instead of talking to a virtual assistant
I prefer to make love with my wife instead of with a cold robot woman
I would rather play a Splinterlands battle against a real player like me instead of against a bot.
If like me you believe that the presence of BOTs on Splinterlands is counterproductive and could be a big problem for the future of Splinterlands and if you also have the same thought as me go to the Splinterlands Proposal section and vote for the active proposal right now!

Ormai sto perdendo il conto dei giochi basati su blockchain in cui gioco oppure ho investito.
Splinterlands è stato il mio primo gioco basato su blockchain e ancora oggi, dopo quasi 4 anni dalla mia prima battaglia, è ancora il mio gioco preferito.
Fra tutti i giochi a cui gioco Splinterlands è il più completo e strutturato da tutti i punti di vista:
- Sviluppo
- Promozione
- Dinamiche di gioco
- Tokenomics
- Usabilità
- Supporto
Inoltre Splinterlands è un gioco Hive-based e questo è un ulteriore vantaggio e un ulteriore valore aggiunto.
Un'altro aspetto importante e di valore di Splinterlands è la grande comunità di giocatori che giocano, investono, scrivono contenuti sulla blockchain di Hive e interagiscono e si confrontano tra di loro.
Per la comunità di Splinterlands c'è un elemento importante di interazione e di confronto: il sistema delle Proposals che è accessibile dalla DASHBOARD del sito di Splinterlands.

E' possible leggere la proposta completa cliccando sul titolo della proposta e per votare è necessario cliccare sulle due frecce presenti all'interno del riquadro della proposta:
- freccia in alto per esprimere un voto favorevole
- freccia in basso per esprimere un voto contrario
Se la proposta otterrà almeno il 66.67% dei voti favorevoli passerà e Splinterlands implementerà un sistema anti-bot per impedire ai bot di giocare contro i giocatori umani nelle Ranked Battles del Modern Format.
E' solo la mia opinione personale ma io ho sempre considerato il consentire l'utilizzo dei BOT nel gioco di Splinterlands una scelta altamente controproducente per il futuro di Splinterlands.
Qual'è il vantaggio di consentire l'utilizzo dei BOT in un gioco di strategia PvP?
L'unico vantaggio è che i BOT riducono il tempo di attesa dell'inizio di una battaglia nelle finestre temporali in cui sono pochi giocatori attivi.
Ma è un reale vantaggio?
Secondo me no perchè l'implementazione di BOT gestiti da Splinterlands che non ricevono ricompense (oppure le bruciano) sarebbe una soluzione molto più efficiente per un gioco che ha alla base un gioco di strategia di carte Player Vs Player.
Se conosci dei vantaggi dell'utilizzo dei BOT privati in un gioco PvP per favore scrivimelo nei commenti perchè io non ne riesco a trovare nemmeno uno!
Ci sono esempi concreti di giochi che hanno raggiunto il successo grazie alla presenza di BOT?

Se fossi io a scegliere estrometterei i BOT anche dal formato Wild e creerei un formato solo per i BOT.
Le ricompense sarebbero divise così:
- Wild Format: solo giocatori umani (33.33%)
- Modern Format: solo giocatori umani (33.33%)
- BOT Format: BOT e giocatori umani (33.33%)
Nel Wild Format e nel Modern Format ci sarebbero solo i BOT creati da Splinterlands che entrerebbero in gioco solo quando il numero dei giocatori attivi è esiguo.
Io caro lettore ho deciso di votare a favore della proposta sull'introduzione delle misure anti-bot nel Modern Format perchè non vedo un buon futuro per il mio gioco blockchain preferito se i BOT dovessero superare di gran numero i giocatori umani.
Il mio voto non è stato sufficiente a superare il 66.7% dei voti favorevoli ma ci sono ancora 6 giorni di tempo per votare.
Quando gioco una battaglia di Splinterlands mi pongo spesso la seguente domanda:
Sto giocando contro un BOT o contro un giocatore?
Io preferisco giocare a scacchi contro una persona invece di un computer
Io preferisco parlare e confrontarmi con una persona invece di parlare con un assistente virtuale
Io preferisco fare l'amore con mia moglie invece che con una fredda donna robot
Io preferisco giocare una battaglia di Splinterlands contro un giocatore reale come me invece che contro un robot.
Se come me credi che la presenza dei BOT su Splinterlands è controproducente e potrebbe essere un grande problema per il futuro di Splinterlands e se anche tu hai il mio stesso pensiero vai nella sezione Proposal di Splinterlands e vota a favore della proposta attiva in questo momento.
Se non sei d'accordo con me scrivimi le tue motivazioni sotto a questo post perchè è sempre bello confrontarsi in modo costruttivo soprattutto quando si hanno idee diverse.

There are a few concerns before I even consider agreeing with it. How long would it take to get a match without bots? If I have to wait like 2-3 minutes between matches, it won't be very fun at all. At the same time, how would they be able to classify what is a bot? It's hard to bucket people and find out who is doing exactly what.

In the novice league Splinterlands has implemented BOTs with the function of entering the game when there are no opponents. The solution to avoid long waits is already there: Splinterlands BOTs that receive no rewards and calibrated to the league level.
So many successful Web 2.0 games use BOTs to make player activity better when there are few active players.
On splinterlands there are accounts that have hundreds of bots and only have the goal of monetizing...
There are many ways to identify a BOT.
For example, a BOT repeats sequences of operations at regular intervals...
In my opinion, the solutions are there because they are already adopted by so many other games and they are simpler solutions than it might seem ;)

Grazie Liberty per aver segnalato che è in atto la votazione a questa proposta. I bot privati in Splinterlands hanno già fatto un bel danno secondo me. Gli utenti a cui ho mostrato Splinterlands negli ultimi 12 mesi non hanno continuato la propria strada su Splinterlands e secondo me essere battuto continuamente da BOT non fa piacere a nessuno… perchè impegnarsi a cercare di sconfiggere un computer? Tanto vincerà sempre lui. Splinterlands su Dapp Radr è sempre stato il primo gioco con più transazioni, poi ha iniziato a perdere posizioni dalla prima metà del 2022, oggi è comunque ancora al quarto posto, molto in alto, secondo me l’eliminazione dei Bot privati potrebbe portare Splinterlands di nuovo in prima posizione. !PIZZA
Caro @stefano.massari mi fa piacere che la pensiamo allo stesso modo.
Per quanto riguarda le transazioni, sono diminuite quando Splinterlands ha iniziato a prendere delle contromisure per limitare i bot. Io personalmente valuto di maggior peso gli account unici in un gioco più delle transazioni anche se rimangono comunque un dato importante da valutare ;)

Giusta analisi, la tua analisi credo sia più precisa di quella che ho pensato di fare io.
Caro @libertycrypto27 ho votato anch'io a favore, con il mio leggerissimo peso, ma non sono convinto al 100% della scelta. A pesare è stato più che altro il mio ritorno a giocare: se non lo facessi avrei votato probabilmente contro.
Occorre distinguere, nel valutare, due aspetti: la sostenibilità economica ed il divertimento. Dal punto di vista del secondo sicuramente è meglio abolire i BOT, dal primo temo non ci sia scelta alternativa a tollerarli.
Come scrivo da anni la situazione oggi è figlia delle scelte di ieri ed è ora modificabile solo molto molto lentamente nella migliore delle ipotesi, se non del tutto impossibile. In passato di è scelto di seguire la crescita iperbolica e si dovevano piazzare sul mercato molte migliaia di carte, ovviamente con denaro affluente in grandi quantità, in poco tempo. Tale disponibilità economica non poteva arrivare solo dai giocatori che miravano al divertimento, e probabilmente non potrebbe arrivarci neanche ora. Ed è questo afflusso da investitori che vogliono il loro ritorno economico passivo (interessi) che ha permesso la crescita (ed il mantenimento) del gioco come lo descrivi nella prima parte del post.
Senza i bot che permettono loro di incassare in maniera passiva e consistente l'economia di gioco secondo me rischia di collassare: ci sono troppe carte in circolazione rispetto al numero di giocatori umani e si sta continuando ad emetterne ad un limite giustificato solo dalla presenza di BOT. Se i BOT sparissero i prezzi delle carte crollerebbero con fortissime perdite per tutte le parti: investitori, sviluppatori e giocatori. Quanti giocatori continuerebbero a giocare solo per il gusto del gioco e non per i guadagni che ne derivano? Se ricordi i miei post di anni fa io all'epoca avevo questa predisposizione, ora non più, per svariati motivi che vanno dalla disponibilità di tempo alla mentalità cambiata su "sollecitazione" delle scelte degli sviluppatori.
Penso che le nuove tipologie di carte soulbound siano una scelta volta proprio a cercare di trasformare il gioco da playandearn a play e basta ;) Vedremo come evolverà.
Anche l'idea di predisporre delle classifiche apposite solo per i BOT potrebbe esser valida.
Il nocciolo del problema però è nella preponderanza dal punto di vista economico del peso dei BOT che non può esser ridotta velocemente senza far crollare il sistema e non vedo frotte di giocatori accorrere a sostituirli: quelli che arrivano spesso lo fanno solo per il guadagno a breve, illudendosi di diventare ricchi velocemente solo giocando, e son probabilmente una soluzione peggiore dei BOT stessi. A mancare sono i giocatori puri, quelli disposti a giocare solo per divertimento, disposti a non guadagnare ed anzi anche a rimetterci un po' (cioè disposti a pagare per divertirsi).
Secondo me una delle scelte più importanti da fare sarebbe ridurre il numero di carte, cominciando dal metterne meno di nuove in circolazione, per un lungo periodo. Ma poi c'è il problema di come mantenere la sostenibilità del gioco. E' un sistema di equilibri delicatissimi: spero solo che gli sviluppatori abbiano un preciso sistema che permetta loro di monitorare attentamente la situazione perché è veramente semplice fare le scelta sbagliata che rompe l'equilibrio e fa rotolare tutto. E che si stiano muovendo con sollecitudine a cercare fonti di rendita esterne e diversificate.
E' sempre un piacere leggere i tuoi commenti e le tue riflessioni e condivido tutto quello che hai scritto caro @garlet sugli errori di percorso e sullo scotto da pagare oggi non potendo modificare in modo tangibile e immediato la troppa tolleranza sui bot fatta fino ad ora.
La proposta in corso sarebbe un passo importante verso una prima importante modifica che darebbe un pò di voce ai giocatori reali che si divertono a giocare. Come hai ben scritto tu non è possibile abolire i bot di botto (scusa il gioco di parole ma mi piaceva :) ma iniziare un percorso verso la loro limitazione almeno in una lega darebbe una scelta ai giocatori reali che adesso non possono scegliere ma soltanto subire.
Se i bot dovessero crescere sempre di più io sarei il primo ad abbandonare un progetto che mi è sempre piaciuto ma in cui non vedrei nessun futuro...

Comincio a pensarlo anch'io ahahah anche se queste piccole sfortune alla fine, se ne evitano altre più grandi, le accetto ben volentieri!
Comunque, se la proposta non passasse, io penso che smetterei definitivamente di giocare "normalmente", salvo le brawls dove mi fa piacere giocare tutti assieme (anche se pure lì ormai è pieno di gente che usa, se non bot, quantomeno tool esterni che suggeriscono le formazioni migliori, come un certo "battle helper" di cui ho letto più volte a giro).
A parte che io come te sarei per relegare i bot ad una modalità esclusiva per loro, sfruttando solo dei bot appositi introdotti dal gioco stesso nei momenti in cui l'utenza è più ridotta; ma se invece le persone non sono nemmeno disposte ad accettare la proposta attuale, che mi sembra fin troppo generosa, per me vuol dire che il gioco rischia veramente di ridursi all'ennesimo idle game, dove le persone premodo periodicamente il bottone di avvio di un bot e niente più...

La comodità dei bot, almeno dal mio punto di vista, è che almeno quando non hai tempo di giocare, per i vari impegni, il bot completa le battaglie giornaliere per ricevere le ricompense!
Ma certo l'utiltà per chi non ha tempo è molta ma il problema secondo me è di prospettiva futura per un gioco che a me piace e non vorrei morisse...
Nella situazione attuale ci sono giocatori reali molto scontenti dei bot e giocatori che non hanno tempo contenti dei bot.
Alla base di ogni gioco di successo ci sono i giocatori reali che si divertono e a cui piace spendere il loro tempo giocando.
Se sconteni loro il gioco è bello che morto o lo sarà in futuro.
Separare le leghe tra leghe con bot e leghe senza è la soluzione ottimale secondo me che rende felici tutti

Yes you are absolutely right and in my opinion the only usefulness of Bots is to reduce the waiting time to start a battle when there are few players.
Splinterlands uses bots in the novice league and should extend them to all leagues as I wrote in my post:
In many Web 2.0 games, this is a solution that has been successfully adopted for a long time.
For example in the game Stumble Guys that my daughter plays there are bots but they are proprietary bots and not private ones like on Splinterlands.
Any successful game is based on real players enjoying the game, without a base of real players who love the game any game is dead...it's just a matter of time
So many players I know complain about bots and some have moved away from Splinterlands because of it.
If it gets to the point where there are so many bots and so few real players I would immediately sell everything.
If there are players on Splinterlands who hate bots and players who love bots why not make both happy?
It is the current situation that creates a counterproductive environment for the future of Splinterlands.
The solution is simple in my opinion and that is to create leagues for real players and leagues for bots so everyone is happy.
Instead, the current situation only displeases real players who are the basis of any game with future prospects
Obviously this is just my personal opinion and I hope Splinterlands has a very long life but I see the current too much freedom for bots a problem for the future

You are right. I am battling against this situation in Gold and Diamond. However, I have recently made a large input of crypto to level up all my most used cards, the result was significant when you compare my win-loss ratio to the previous season. I understand that many players in Bronze and Silver have difficulties putting more money into cards, but it can benefit both the game and the player while forcing the bot owner to spend even more to restructure his enter lineups strategies.
The solution for the reduction of the power-grab from the bot's owners without causing a huge problem could be "a cool-down period for all winning accounts and their assets that exceed a specific ratio. For example 24-hour cool day every time the players or bot reach a win-loss ratio above "0.8".
It is important that a solution come into play. I agree with the situation you have described. I am open to suggestions of solutions that will help bring the balance back into the game.

Come già detto in un commento nel quale abbiamo affrontato la cosa, la mia paura è che una simile proposta difficilmente riuscirà a passare, perché ostacolata da chi finora ha utilizzato i bot senza troppi problemi, saccheggiando le pool giornaliere e stagionali.
La maggior parte degli stessi, infatti, sono da considerare delle balene all'interno del gioco, visto che credo abbiano investito pesantemente per mettere in piedi delle vere e proprie Farm Bot, che hanno loro consentito dei ritorni economici da paura, e di conseguenza avranno anche un potere di voto, in SPS, che farà pendere l'ago della bilancia a loro vantaggio.

Ho dato un'occhiata, e per il momento sembra ancora reggere l'ipotesi della vittoria, anche se, come dicevi tu, rimangono ancora un po' di giorni, ma riflettendoci un po' su, in questi giorni, sinceramente non so più che cosa sperare.
Per quanto possa essere un inizio per quanto riguarda la lotta contro i Bot, secondo me questa proposta rischia di creare solo ulteriore scompiglio, e anche dei problemi, ed anche seri, almeno per quanti come me giocano esclusivamente al formato Wild.
Va da sé, infatti, che, se realmente i Bot verranno combattuti all'interno della modalità Modern, tutti quelli attualmente attivi lì, si riverseranno in quella Wild e, di conseguenza, se già ora mi riesce sempre più difficile riuscire a combinare qualcosa di buono, da ora in avanti posso considerare definitivamente morta ogni mia speranza di riuscire a migliorare, ed anzi sarà sempre più complicato anche solo andare avanti.
Col senno di poi, quindi, non so più che cosa pensare, visto che, se da un lato l'ho votata positivamente, dall'altra tema che ci saranno delle ripercussioni, per me, piuttosto importanti, che mi porteranno a una situazione ancora peggiore di quella attuale, che potrebbe portarmi a prendere decisioni drastiche in merito al mio futuro per quanto riguarda questo gioco.
Tra l'altro, come dicevo nel mio post di ieri, in merito ai risultati finali della stagione, ho appena scoperto dell'esistenza di un altro tipo di Bot che, in pratica, non si sostituisce agli umani, ma da loro la pappa pronta per quanto riguarda i migliori schieramenti da utilizzare, in ogni scontro, andando a falsare, ancora di più, ogni combattimento che si potrà andare a svolgere.
In pratica, questo tipo di sistema automatico analizza al volo i dati della lotta che dovrai andare ad affrontare, e in pochissimi secondi fornisce, a chi lo utilizza, l'elenco delle carte utilizzabili, e schierabili, ed in quale ordine, e, di conseguenza, si tratterà solo di fare un semplice copia e incolla delle formazioni che ci verranno proposte.
Se questo è l'andazzo che ha preso Splinterlands, allora, sinceramente, tanto verrebbe, a questo punto, dire direttamente a tutti gli utenti dello stesso di crearsi ognuno il proprio bot, e di lasciare che siano loro a giocare, guardando, semplicemente, a fine giornata, che cosa hanno combinato, godendosi le ricompense che gli stessi hanno guadagnato.
Sinceramente, infatti, se questa è la direzione intrapresa, sinceramente non vedo più alcun divertimento a sbattersi, tutti i santi giorni, a cercare di fare del proprio meglio contro giocatori che, in realtà, sono del tutto, o in parte, sistemi automatici, contro i quali sarà praticamente impossibile, o comunque molto difficile, poter andare a vincere.
In tutta la sincerità, quindi, non so quanta voglia ho di continuare a perdere il mio tempo in questo modo, visto che mi sembra che stia diventando tutto, sempre di più, un inutile perdita di tempo, e sinceramente ne sono molto dispiaciuto, perché ho sempre amato questo gioco, ma se questa saranno le condizioni di fronte alle quali mi verrò trovare nel prossimo futuro, sinceramente non so, come ti dicevo poche righe più sopra, se avrà voglia di continuare.
