My Favourite Hive Dapps

There are several Dapps on running on the Hive chain. I have been interacting with most of them and the experience has been great. I got to know of the Hive Dapps when I was trying to create my account. I was presented with several ways to create an account. I was so curious about this that, I had to read about each of of the option and that was when I realized that, I can access all the services of Hive outside hive.blog. The power of the dapps can never be underestimated, they have made the life of Hive bloggers much easier.

Now one can literally do anything you would have done in the Web 2 social media platforms thanks to the dapps . If you want to create or consume micro-blogs like in twitter, then D.buzz and leofinance are here for you. If you want to share video content like YouTube or tiktok, 3speak is here for you. Liketu is also available to you if you want to share images just like Instagram. There are even a lot more and the amazing thing is that, they are all created by normal users like you and I. With the required skill, you can also create your own Dapp on Hive chain with the Hive APIs which are openly available for everyone.

My Experience With my Favourite Hive Dapps

Since I started blogging on Hive, the top Dapps I have been using include hive.blog, ecency, peakd and leofinance. Although I have interacted with others too but these are those that I visit daily for posting and engagement.

I like hive.blog for it's simplicity and availability on every device with a very simple user experience. It is a web application and if you are a beginner, you don't have to suffer before you become used to it. You can easily navigate to different section without any stress, you can access your wallet, do transaction, trade and monitor the Hive/HBD on it's built in market and many other interesting functionalities.

Just like hive.blog, peakd.com is also a web application. I am hooked on it for its clean and user-friendly interface. It offers almost all the functionalities of hive.blog, with additional exciting ones geared towards clean and user-friendly browsing. You can have peer-to-peer conversations with other hive users through its built-in Bee Chat feature. I admire this feature a lot, but I have not tried it before. When I attempted to use it during the time of writing this, I experienced an error. It might be due to a poor network at my end, or maybe the feature is currently not stable. But I still applaud the Peakd dev team for the idea of creating means of peer-to-peer conversation on the Hive chain. In fact, Peakd is a wonderful Dapp you will not regret checking out.

peakd.com user account growth

Ecency is obviously my favorite. It is also a web application, but Android and iPhone users can download its application versions from the Play Store and App Store. The ecency team has active support for both the Android and iOS apps, and they keep updating them frequently for a better user experience. Ecency is fast and easy to use, with additional interesting features that can get you hooked up in hours. It also has a built-in market for users to trade Hive-based tokens. One interesting feature is that, as you earn rewards for your posts, you also earn Ecency Points, which you can use to boost or promote your posts. You can also share your points with other users in exchange for other tokens. I have just shared the tip of the iceberg about ecency; there is even a lot more that will get you easily addicted. One drawback I experience with the Ecency Android application is that it keeps lagging sometimes. In most cases, I have to clear the app data or change the API before it gets back to normal, especially after browsing in the application for a longer period of time. This is just a minor issue, which I believe might be due to network issues.

Leofinance is also one of my favorite Hive Dapps. It is also a multipurpose Dapp with interesting features. It is mainly focused on finance and technology-related blogging. There are built-in features in Leofinance such as Leodex for the exchange of Hive engine tokens, Leo Threads for microblogging, and Leo Glossary for the indexing of essential keywords in the domains of technology and finance. There are even more interesting features, and the team behind this Dapp is actively improving it frequently. One drawback I find in Leofinance is its user experience. It's something I don't actually like, and I think it's just my personal preference, but I can see some improvements in the past month, and I am even expecting more in their UI update.

leofinance

Those discussed above are my top 4 among the numerous Hive Dapps. They are those I use in my day-to-day engagement with the Hive chain. There are still more like splinterlands, Liketu, 3speak, Dbuzz, Posh.com, and even more, although I have not had intense interaction with them. I know they are all wonderful dapps with interesting features. They all have the same goal of providing a better experience for both content creators and consumers on Hive.

As someone who is into web development, I would love to develop a Hive dapp in the future. But for now, I am still looking for an interesting idea while exploring and learning more about the Hive APIs. I currently do not have a solid Dapp idea, but I have in my thoughts the need for Hive Ghana to come up with a great idea that we can all contribute to. Thank you for your time on my blog; I really appreciate it.
