Azhar ibn Sulaim: One of the Best Taunt Units

avatar

Hello Splinterlands warriors and welcome back to my blog!

Azhar ibn Sulaim is a legendary Fire splinter Djinn introduced as part of the Conclave Arcana reward set. In the lore, he is an efreeti commander who serves as the deputy of Brave the Bull during the campaign against Oridum Graybrow and his forces. Although Azhar and Brave often disagree on strategy, the two leaders gradually develop mutual respect because of Azhar’s discipline, pragmatism and concern for his soldiers.

He is my sought after legendary card and I recently got him from reward chests. My Azhar is at level one right now and I intend to level him up to two.

Lore

The Great Lowlands are being consumed by fire as Oridum Graybrow's storms ravage the land, disrupting trade, farming and mining throughout Praetoria. In response, the Torch and the Ministry of Peace unite to form a multisplinter task force led by Brave the Bull, with Azhar ibn Sulaim serving as deputy commander. Azhar oversees the army's furnaces, forges and supply lines while striving to minimize unnecessary losses among his troops. Although he respects Brave's determination, Azhar is willing to challenge reckless decisions, remaining focused on defeating Oridum and bringing his soldiers home safely. As the allied forces march west through the ashes, the fate of the Lowlands hangs in the balance.

Stats and Abilities

Azhar ibn Sulaim is a legendary Fire splinter, nine mana unit. At maxed levels he deals four range damage and has an insane speed of eight. He also has three armor and nine health on defense. As for abilities, he has four. Taunt allows him to draw attacks while Backfire deals two physical damage to enemies when they miss. These two abilities work hand in hand with his amazing speed. At level three, he gains Phase which will allow him to dodge magic attacks. At maxed levels, he gains Shield Ward, a nice support ability.

For Silver and Gold players, it's important to get him to level two. At that level, his speed bumps to eight and he gains the Backfire ability. These combination of speed and abilities will be perfect for his role as a Taunt unit.

Featured Battle

I have my Azhar at level one. While he is a decent Taunt unit, he is still far from ideal until he gets to level two.

In this battle, his speed ensures that he gets to attack first but it's still not enough to evade enemy attacks and he got eliminated rather quickly. On the other hand, it was enough time for my other units to deal damage while not being bothered by enemy damage dealers. At level one, Azhar will not be my first choice of a Taunt unit. I already have Syrenth to fill that role in the Dragon splinter. It will be a different story when Azhar gets to level two.

I like your honest opinion about the card. Not every legendary is amazing at level 1 and you explained that well. Hopefully you will get enough copies to unlock his full potential soon.
