Splinterlands: Buying and Upgrading My Frontier Cards

avatar

Hello Splinterlands Summoners and welcome to my blog! I'm having fun playing in the Frontier Mode. It's a free to play version of Splinterlands where beginners can try the game for free. However, veterans players like me also find it fun to play in the Frontier. The cards are about equal and can easily be obtained either from reward chest or buying from the in game market. As for me, I was impatient and bought some cards to improve my Frontier deck.

Aurelia

To upgrade my game, I started with the Earth archon. I was missing one BCX to level her up to three so I didn't wait to get her from reward chests and bought a copy. Levelling her up to three is a huge improvement in my Earth splinter. This increases the levels of units she can summon. A level three archon can summon level four common from level three, level three rare from level two and level two legendary from level one. Epic is unchanged at level two. After levelling up my Earth archon, I was down the rabbit hole and bought more cards.

Dread Tafarian

Dread Tafarian is the main tank of the Earth team unless in some cases it's better to use the Dire Bear. I bought a level three and immediately upgraded my unit to level four. It gave the Dread Tafarian an increase in melee damage which is huge in the Frontier. It did lose one health stat though but I'd take the extra damage boost anytime.

Giam Root

Giam Root is the legendary Earth card. I bought one copy to upgrade it to level two which is the maxed level of legendary Frontier cards. Like the Dread Tafarian, it also gained one ranged attack but didn't lose any other stats. It's a great support unit with Strengthen ability that now has become an offensive threat.

Wilhelmdale Deputy

Wilhelmdale Deputy is a common card. I have one gold copy and bought another one to level her up to four. She also increased her attack by one but lost one health stats.

That completes my purchase for my Earth team. I also improved my Water splinter and as usual, I upgraded my archon first.

Marlai Singariel

Marlai Singariel is the Water archon. I upgraded her to level four which is the max level for archons in the Frontier. This means that she can summon units at their strongest levels. After upgrading my archon, I worked on my units next.

Port Guardian

Port Guardian is the main tank of the Water splinter. After upgrading him to max level, he increased his attack by one and gained the Corrosive Ward ability. It's a useful ability against enemy tanks because it decreases their armor by two when they get hit.

Spitting Camel

I also maxed out the Spitting Camel. He gained one more attack stat but decreased its health to seven. It's a great unit that I even use as a tank in some situations because of its high health pool. With the upgrade, it becomes an offensive choice in some situations.

Final Thoughts

The Frontier is a fun mode to play. It's a call back to the beginnings of Splinterlands where you can play and open reward chests daily to increase your card collection. Beginners and free to play players will enjoy this mode but veteran players like me also love it. It's another mode where we can do battles while seeing our card collection grow through daily rewards.
