Overview

The new Weekly ruleset Challenge is an amazing twist that I am enjoying so far and I hope there will be twists like that in the future to keep this Challenge's fresh. 😁

This week the ruleset is the Even Stevens, which means that only units with even mana costs may be used. This rule does not apply to summoners, so it is possible to use all of them and mix them with even mana cost monsters. 😇

The upcoming Battle ruleset

RulesetDescription
Even StevensOnly Monsters with even Mana costs may be used in battles.
FerocityAll Monsters have the Fury ability.

The mana cap for my next battle was 28, which is quite low for my taste where only the Water and Life Splinter were available. I do not really like the Even Stevens ruleset, because it halves the available monster pool to choose for my team. There is an interesting observation from my side, which is some of the Splinters has better monster pool for the Even Stevens and for the Odd Ones Out ruleset.

The Ferocity will give the Fury ability to all the monsters on the battlefield, which means that they will deal double damage against the monsters with the Taunt ability. 😆

My lineup

Avina the Wolf is an interesting Summoner and she is part of the new Rebellion set. She cost 5 mana and even thought it is an odd mana cost she will be still usable here. She has two different abilities and the player can choose, which one to use before the battle. The first option is to give +2 speed to two of her monsters or to give the Heal ability to one of his monsters. 😉
The Chaos Knight is an excellent 'low' mana cost tank, because she cost only 6 not 8 like the proper tanks. She still has the Shield ability, which is perfect for a tank and Avina will give her the Heal ability as well. Her only weakness, which comes from the 6 mana cost is the not she doesn't have that much health. 🤩

The Pelacor Conjurer is one of the best low cost non-attacker monster in the game, because he cost only 2 mana and he has a lot of speed, health and the Magic Reflect ability paired with the Flying ability. On his next level he has the Divine Shield ability, so he will be able to block one attack completely. I lost many games before, because I couldn't hit this monster with my team. 💪
Aves Sturges is a Rebellion card as well, with a very special ability that makes him amazing. Stats wise he is quite bad, but he possess the Weapon Training ability, which means that he will give his own magic attack to the non-attack monsters next to him, so he will turn them into a damage dealers as well. 🤗

The Clockwork Aide is nothing special on its own. He cost 4 mana has a lot of armor and only one health plus the Swiftness ability, which will give +1 speed to all of his friendly monsters. The most important thing is that he will receive the magic attack buff from Avis as well making him a damage dealer. 😇
The Venari Crystalsmith if one of my favorite monster from the Life Splinter and I almost always try to use her. Her main ability is Tank Heal, which is important in any battle and she also has +2 Ranged attack damage as well, so she is not just sitting in the back doing apart from her heal. 👍

The Soul Fiend cost zero mana, which is even and I used him to protect my backline a bit from the enemy Sneak or Opportunity attack monsters, because if my opponent will bring the Water Splinter that one has a lot of this kind of monsters. 🤭

My opponent brought Kelya Frendul from the Water Splinter. He cost only 4 mana and his ability is to increase the speed and armor to all of his friendly monsters.

In the first round bot hof our tanks were pretty strong to take the hit and survive. My opponent had only two damage dealer one was targeting my Chaos Knight who was able to heal the damage back easily and he also had the Deeplurker who has the Opportunity ability, which will target the lowest health monster from my backline. 😱

In the second round my team killed their Baakjira, so they could start to focus their Djinn Oshannus who has a lot of speed, Phase and the Void ability.

His Deeplurker had to wait three round to kill be able to kill my Clockwork Aide thanks to his high armor.

Luckily in the fourth round my team managed to kill their Djinn Oshannus, so only his Deeplurker left as a damage dealer, which was not enough to deal enough damage to kill my Chaos Knight with his Shield abiity and double Heal. 🤗

Did your strategy work? What will you try differently next time?

My strategy worked pretty well, because the Heal from my summoner was an amazing idea for my Chaos Knight who has even the Shield ability to mitigate all the incoming melee and ranged damage. I like this combo especially with Bera who is a legendary monster from the Life Splinter, but she has the Taunt ability, which wouldn't work perfectly with the Ferocity ruleset. 😇

Many times building a smaller mana cost team is much better than bringing only one or two high mana cost monster. 💪
