Social Media Challenge | No Melee No Headache! 🤫

Overview
Today I brought a Wild Ranked battle, where I will try to predict what my oppoent will bring and build my lineup against it. If he or she is going to bring a different setup that I have in mind I might be in big trouble. 😇
My upcoming Battle ruleset(s)

| Ruleset | Description |
|---|---|
| Keep Your Distance | You cannot summon units with Melee power. |
The mana cap for my next battle was 36, which is not that much thatI would love to use, because I do not really like when I am limited by the mana cap. Anyhow this is still okay, but I needed to make some budget options in my lineup in order to fill up all the monster slots. 😉
The Keep Your Distance ruleset will eliminate the use of any kind of Melee attack monsters, so only the Magic and Ranged attack monsters will be available throughout the battle. 🤗

My lineup
![]() | The Pembrook Nymph is a Water Summoner, which is one of my favorite, because they have quite a lot of versatile monsters. She cost exactly six mana, which is not that cheap especially for this battle, but in return she gives +1 Health to all of her monsters, which is good against the burning effect. On top of that she will be able to bring one additional Gladiator monster into this battle, which are one of the most powerful monsters if they are able to start killing their target. 😊 |
| The Venari Marksrat is a must have in almost any battle, not because he is so powerful, but because he has the Martyr ability, so when he dies he will increase all the stats of the monsters adjacent to him. Luckily putting him in the first position will make sure that he dies fairly quick, so he will be able to activate his ability to boost his team mate behind him when he dies. 😌 | ![]() |
![]() | The Djinn Oshannus cost 8 mana, so he is not that cheap, but he is an all time favorite thanks to his amazing protective abilities. He has the Void ability, which will reduce the damage from all of the Magic attacks targetin him. His Phase ability will allow him to dodge Magic attacks as well just like the Ranged and Melee attacks. His last ability is Forcefield, which means that this monster will take only one damage from attacks with power five or more. These abilities and his huge amount of Speed and Health will makes him the perfect off-tank for any battle in case my frontline dies and need someone to protect my squishy monsters behind him. 😇 |
| The Merdhampir is an excellent low mana cost Ranged attacker with two damage. Compared to his mana cost he has excellent stats and the Scavenger ability, which will increase his Health whenever a monster dies on the battlefield. 😌 | ![]() |
![]() | The Venari Wavesmith is one of my favorite monster since I started playing Splinterlands and he was my first monster that I bought. He cost only 5 mana, which is nice and he has the Protect ability, which means that he will increase the Armor to all of his friendly monsters by two until he is alive. He also has +2 Magic damage, which is pretty good and makes him to a good damage dealer as well. 😎 |
| The Merdaali Guardian is a center piece of my strategy, because she has the Tank Heal ability, which means that she will be able to restore some of the Health of the monster in my first position. This should be enough to keep him alive as long as my opponent doesn't have any Sneak, Opportunity or Snipe attackers in their team. 🤗 | ![]() |
![]() | The Swamp Spitter cost only 7 mana and I say that, because as a Ranged attack monster with three attack damage he has amazing abilities compared to his mana cost. His first ability is his Repair ability, which means that he will restore some of the lost Armor on one of his friendly monster in every round and the second is his Giant Killer ability, which is perfect in high mana battles like this one, because it will makes him to deal double damage against monsters that cost ten or more mana. 😜 |

The Battle

My opponent brought Thaddius Brood who is a Death Summoner and his powers is to reduce the Magic and Health of the enemy monsters by one. This is especially good in the Keep Your Distance ruleset, because most likely my team will have more Magic attack monsters without the option to use Melee attack ones. 😏
In the first round my opponent quickly killed my Venari Marksrat, which was my plan, but I didn't expected to lose the first monster at the beginning of the battle. Soon after my team also killed their Marksrat as well and the Will-O-Wisp became their new tank, which was quite resilient there with his huge Health. Not much happened in the second round, because both of our tanks were quite strong. 💪
In hte second round my team managed to kill their tank and all of the firepower required to do that from my team. My Djinn Oshannus stood firm in my first position thanks to his Void ability and the Tank Heal from my Meerdali Guardian who was able to restore his Health up to maximum.
In the third round my team killed another "tank" of theirs, which was not really a tank, but my opponent started t orun out monsters with good Health's. 😁
Only three monster left in the enemy team, but the Void on my Djinn Oshannus was so strong that my opponent weren't able to deal enoughdamage to finish him off. On top of that the Heal from my Guardian helped him a lot to sustain the incoming Magic damages infinitely, which allowed to win this battle for me. 😊

Battle Result

Did your strategy work? What will you try differently next time?
My strategy was to try to pick a strong tank with good defensive abilities against the enemy Magic attacks, because the Melee attacker monsters will be banned anyway. Even though my opponent would bring Ranged attack ones the Djinn Oshannus has huge amount of Speed and Health to try to dodge and soak up those damages as well. This strategy worked pretty well for me! 😎
