SPLINTERLANDS BASICS: SHOP, MARKET, & STORE IN SPLINTERLANDS

avatar

Any game on a blockchain that involves different valued assets requires a strong economic hub for its investors and players to smoothly run business operations and trading of items. Similarly, Splinterlands has a well-established economic hub that consists of a shop, a marketplace, and a guild store.

Transactions in Splinterlands markets reach thousands of dollars in daily volume of trades. Whether you are a new player or an investor, it is very important to understand how Splinterlands markets work.

SHOP

Shop is a sales point for Splinterlands assets where a player can only buy available items. All new items launched by Splinterlands are sold in the shop and these sales can be time-based or supply-based.

Suppose, if there is a new pack sale starts in the shop, it will continue until the supply lasts. In another case, if there is a limited edition card sale starts, it will most probably be a time-limited sale. Other than special presale events, the shop has a steady supply of goods for sale.

Typically, Shop offers you packs, special edition cards, validator node licenses, potions, and skins.

How to Access Shop

When you open the Splinterlands website, you'll find a coins icon next to the home button as shown in the image below.

Here is a close-up of the Shop icon.

Each sale item requires a different game currency, but some items are sold in multiple game currencies.

For Example: When you buy a Riftwatchers Gem pack, you'll need SPS and Voucher tokens as shown in the image below.

But, when you are going to buy Tower Defense packs, then you'll be given the option to either pay with DEC tokens or use non-transferrable CREDITS as shown below.

Potions are also available in DEC and CREDITS, you may use any one of the game currencies to buy desired items. Different items have different payment methods, but you can always exchange SPS and DEC tokens in external decentralized exchanges such as tribaldex.com or hive-engine.com. Credit is a soul-bound currency, so you can only buy it on the Splinterlands website.

MARKET

Splinterlands Market is the trading hub for the sale, purchase, and rental of game assets. Players can list their assets such as cards, packs, and lands for selling and renting out in the market, while other players can acquire these cards using DEC or CREDITS.

How to Access Market and Its Functions

A player can access the marketplace using the navigation bar, there is a card icon with a + sign, 4th in the row from left to right as shown in the image below.

Once in the market, you'll see a CARD SALES page along with 3 other tabs for other game assets.

CARD SALES

Here you can buy any available cards except Gladius Case cards. You can use filters provided between the navigation panel and cards panel and sort out your desired cards this way.

You can narrow down cards to a specific pack edition, foil, rarity, element, and role. Additional filters can be applied from the drop-down menu, these filters can show you a specific level of cards, price, rarity, monster's attack or health, etc.

Buying a Card
Click on a card and it will take you to another page, where you have to select the card you want to buy and pay the price in DEC or Credits.

Once you click the BUY button a pop-up will appear asking you to confirm the transaction and then you have to approve the transaction via Hive KeyChain.

CARD RENTALS

Players can rent game cards in a Card Rental section, first, click on the Card Rental tab to access the rental panel to review the cards to be rented.

Now, click any card you like to rent and you'll be forwarded to the payment page.

Once you have selected desired card, a pop-up window will appear asking you to define the days for the rental period, click the RENT button, confirm and approve your transaction, and within a few moments rented card will appear in your "Items".

LAND SALES

Land sales market is currently in the development stage and will soon be available to trade Land assets and other related items.

OTHER ITEMS

In this section you'll find different high-value assets, these include packs of different editions, titles, totems, and land plot claims.

Buying this item is pretty simple based on the lowest value. Click an item to buy and you'll be sent to the payment page as shown below.

In the above example, we are buying an Azmare Dice pack with DEC tokens, the lowest price will apply for this purchase first. Clicking the 'BUY' button will trigger Hive KeyChain to approve the transaction.

LISTING A CARD FOR SALE OR RENTAL

You can list any card from within the Splinterlands website, simply click on the 'ITEMS' icon to select your card or cards that you wish to rent out or sell.

Suppose, here we are selecting 'Soul Fiend' to rent out or sell from available cards. Click the card to see the additional function on another page.

Check mark the card to sell, then click the green market icon, and a pop-up window will appear.

If you like to sell the card, then enter the desired amount or suggested price in USD and click the 'SELL' button, you'll be asked to approve the transaction through Hive KeyChain.

To list the card for rental, click on the 'RENT CARD' tab.

Enter the desired amount of rent or use the suggested price, then click the 'RENT' button to execute the approval process through Hive KeyChain.

Note: Rental and Sale are subject to a 5% market fee on all transactions.

Store is a special shop building in Splinterlands Guild. Store is only accessible to members of a guild and it offers items that can only be utilized in a guild environment.

How to Access the Guild Store

There are 2 ways to access the guild store, 1) directly from the guild via the Buildings menu as shown in the image below.

  1. It can also be opened from Shop, the Store tab will appear to guild members only, non-guild members can't see this icon in Shop.
