The Rebellion Brings War for Airdrops - A Guide to Conflicts
Rebellion will revolutionize the way the game is played and the Splinterlands team is striving to bring new changes to the game for the players who will enjoy a more challenging game after the new Rebellion system kicks in on the 15th of December, 2023.
The Rebellion edition is bringing not only new cards but also provides us with new abilities, multi-summoners, new tactics, and Conflict for Airdrops. Today, we discuss the Conflict a kind of war in Splinterlands to earn Airdrop cards each month.
Introduction to Airdrop Conflicts
Splinterlands team is revamping the old airdrop system to a new and improved mechanism where only eligible players will get airdrops. The old system will be replaced with Conflicts and it will only count players who participate in the war regardless of how many Rebellion packs anyone had bought.
The name "Conflicts" is not a final name, although it will be revealed in December when the launch of Rebellion cards will be close enough, so there could possibly be a new name for this event.
The Conflicts will be a monthly event and there are a total of 9 airdrop cards, so each month there will be a new event for a new card. But, there are rumors that the war system might continue even after the completion of 9 airdrops, but we should assume that the prize can be a bit different, yet it's not confirmed new, so we should wait for some official news.
How Do Airdrop Conflicts Work
When the war starts, a pool of airdrop cards will be created, the pool will consist fixed amount of airdrop cards for that event. Anyone who joins the Conflict will be eligible to receive cards based on his / her contribution.
The Conflict requires certain items in the player's possession to join the war and participate in growing his / her chances of obtaining a proportionate amount of cards. Following is the list of items a player should have to participate in the Conflict.
1 - Battle Wagons
2 - Rebellion Packs
3 - Rebellion Cards
Players cannot use any other edition of packs and cards in the Airdrop Conflict event, so better now than late, they should obtain Rebellion packs and keep them for Airdrop Conflict.
There will be a separate portal for Rebellion War/Conflict where players will see a location on the map of Praetoria, this location will keep changing every month when a new war event starts. The page will show you all the necessary information regarding the current event, the details may comprise of location of the battle, airdrop character, battle wagon slots, and related information.
How to Participate
To join a Conflict war, players must buy Battle Wagons, the price of a battle wagon will be in VOUCHER tokens and still not decided, but it will be very minimal. Each wagon comes with 5 slots for cards and can carry 100 Rebellion Packs. Players can have any amount of battle wagons depending on their desire for more or less airdrop cards. Each battle wagon slot will appear on the player's war page as shown in the following image.
To build a team, players need to stake their Rebellion packs and cards into Battle wagon slots, packs can be bought from Splinterlands shop or any 3rd party market for participation in Conflicts. Once the cards and packs are staked, players will receive war points every hour, these points will determine the rank of a player in the Conflict leaderboard.
It is to be noted that cards and packs staked into battle wagons will become Soulbound (locked in the account) which means they cannot be used for rentals, sale, or transfer for any purpose. Staked packs or cards must be unstaked to be able to use them for desired purposes. Although all staked cards will be playable in any type of battle.
Packs and cards can be staked and unstaked anytime, there is no time limit for staked cards for unstaking.
Points Calculation
Points will be calculated based on the Collection Power of staked cards and packs every hour, each staked pack will hold 150 collection power. It is better to use higher-level cards to earn more points every hour because a battle wagon cannot carry more than 5 cards, and a player will require more wagons for staking low-level cards. Gold foil cards have the highest collection power than regular cards, so it will be ideal to use high-level GF cards to earn extra points and join higher ranks.
Points will be calculated from the time a player stakes cards and packs into the battle wagon until the end of the Conflict period As soon as the event gets over, all points will be reset to zero, and a new Conflict for another airdrop will start immediately.
Reward Claim
Rewards can be claimed upon completion of the Conflict time, all players will be able to claim their proportion of the cards based on their points earned.
Usually, there will be a 2% chance of obtaining a gold foil card, but this chance can be increased to 4% by spending a certain amount of VOUCHERS during the conflict. This option will be available to all players on the claim page, where they can spend VOUCHERS to add +2% to the base chance.
Why This Change?
Previously, players used to buy packs in bulk just to increase the chances of gaining more airdrop promo cards and later they released the packs into the market. The new war system will change this practice and players cannot have the long-term benefit of receiving airdrop cards except for obtaining some special promo cards during a presale event.
This change for obtaining airdrop cards will bring a boost to Splinterlands economy as players will buy more packs and cards to earn extra points during a war event. The prices of packs and high-level cards will increase, this way there will always be a demand in the market for cards and packs. Hopefully, this will be a positive change and improve daily trade volume.
Future of Conflicts
Yet, we don't know what will happen once all 9 airdrop events finish. However, we feel that the Splinterlands team might plan to include different rewards or other special edition cards in Conflicts after the completion of airdrops. But, it is too early to say anything as we are already waiting for the first war starting this December. So, let's hope for a better more rewarding structure to be included in this system.
