My first Tier 3 Brawl - Reviewing my battles

My first Tier 3 Brawl I went 3-5, but I learned a few things! Reviewing my battles.png

Everyone loves a good brawl, right? Me too - and I'm feeling increasingly excited by them, particularly as I found myself in a new guild recently, and they take part in all the excitement of Tier 3! In my last outing then, I found myself in Tier 3 for the first time, trading blows in Fray 4 - Silver, Wild.

Now, I rented up big for ranked play, and this was well timed, as I was able to put some LEGENDARY summoners into the matches to give myself the best opportunity to smash my opponents to bits! Unfortunately, my 'smash to bits' plan didn't quite work out - but what a great learning opportunity - and that's the point of this blog, to share my battles and consider what I need to remember as I move forward with brawls - because hey, wouldn't we all like to do better and better?

Battle 1 vs Peakmonsters [Legion]
I lost this one. I had hoped that I would knock over a couple of BLOODLUST kills with my Quora, then give her LAST STAND to blast through my opponent's team. However, I didn't count on meeting Quora in the tank position - in the end, I just couldn't drop her, and with her heal, and Goblin Pyschic's heal - it became an impossible task. I think I learned about where to position Quora, as the AFFLICTION from the Goblin Pyschic would ultimately stuff up a healing strategy. Had I played similar to my opponent, it would have simply been: whose goblin landed affliction first. Anyways, good lesson!

Battle 2 vs Legendary Whelps
I lost this one too. This one for me was incredibly disappointing, when I submitted, I felt confident that I had this in the bag, but I didn't expect to come up against the -1 melee summoner, basically, it ruined my SNEAK strategy. The only way to win this would be to clear the back-line and have multiple attackers on the tank to overcome his tank heal - but, I missed a few times, and without the melee advantage, this one just became a mess. I did learn a new strategy though that really looked good - I might have to invest into something similar in the future.

Battle 3 vs Legendary Dragons
3 from 3 - another loss!
This one sucked from the start, as Llama and Yodin were both banned, but I thought, go Jacek - next best thing! This one was a bit unlucky - I think if this played out a few times, I'd get the win at some point, the problem was, I kept trying to hit his Elemental Phoenix, and the bloody thing with 7 speed kept dodging! Look, perhaps I needed a lower mana tank in order to play some magic attackers at the rear - that may have made all the difference, and certainly, would distract some of the arrow hits away from Chimney Wallstop.

Battle 4 vs Grand Praetorian Army
Another battle, and my fourth loss. This one was probably me playing too many high mana accounts, and not being able to get through my opponent's tank. That Kraken is an amazing card, and because it also has the demoralise skill, it ruined my melee line-up! This one was a really bad loss, I couldn't dint my opponent and he took a well and truly overpowered win.

Battle 5 vs YGG Legacy
You know what they say - good things come to those who wait, and I finally got a win to my name. This one was all about using magic to blast through my opponent's line up - and by using a lot of low mana magic attacks, I was able to smash through - particularly with the Ruler of the Seas using his BLAST ability. In this battle, I only lost my FIEND - I'd call that a particularly good win!

Battle 6 vs Guild of Neoxian
This battle was really not a good one for me, and was my fifth loss. Again, I tried to play the Llama/Quora advantage, but my opponent's strategy was solid, leading with the Chain Golem - when I seen it, I remembered I used to always rent this card for brawls, and I'll need to think about giving it another whirl in my next brawl. But in short, my opponent had a line-up which prioritised healing and I couldn't budge his tank. A really big loss on my end.

Battle 7 vs Archmage Arius' Disciples
Win! Big Win! I rather enjoyed this battle, you see, I finally got to 'smash' an opponent's lineup, and in tihs battle, I did that with magic - but funnily enough, it was Relanor Cleaver who kept taking kills and using his bloodlust. In this battle, I didn't lose a single card. Impressive victory, eh? And my second with Valnamor. My opponent had a strategy of healing and rebuilding armour, but with the mana allowed us in this battle, I was able to smash through his Legionaire Alvar.

Battle 8 vs Summoners Tribe
Win! I rather enjoyed this battle, it allowed me to really go big with a Llama battle, playing not just Quora, but also Llama, both of whom HEAL themselves and negate the effect of the poison. By playing a long magic team, I was also able to punch through my opponent's health and take a strong win. This was my favourite win of the brawl.

Evaluation:
Look, in the end, I went 3-5 in my first Tier 3 brawl; it's not that impressive, but it's not bad and the lessons I learned I can take forward. That said, I know one thing for sure, my two Valnamor battles were both wins, and that means I will definitely be renting him again next time! He set me back around 300 DEC for a Level 3, but I only needed a Level 2, so I will be able to invest a 100 DEC and hopefully get a strong return for my guild (which could be really a lot stronger next brawl given brawl rewards are being upped!

Those tier 3 brawls look tough and I have a hard enough time in tier 2. However, it does look like a lot of people you are fighting against aren't using legendaries.
