2. Mycelic Slipspawn - Tank with the Taunt ability
3. Goblin Psychic - Healer
4. Mushroom Seer - Damage dealer with the Silence-ability
5. Hunter Jarx - High Damage with the Snipe ability
6. Mycelic Morphoid - Meatshield with the Thorn-abiliy
Strategy:
In this match I used a couple of strategies. Since the Life-Splinter was no option, I focused my defences against magic (Mushroom Seer) and melee (Mylor Crowling thorns).
In a Spreading Fury ruleset I like to use Grund in front and Mycelic Slipspawn in the second position, so Grund only gets hit once and enrages and the Taunt-Tank takes the other hits.
In case the opponent chooses a mostly magic damage team, the mushroom seer will keep the damage lower giving the Goblin Psychic a chance to heal its targets. If the opponent focuses on melee damage instead, the thorns damage will take its toll on the attacking monsters.
Round 1:
I was hoping that Grund takes some damage before its first attack to be enraged, but instead the all the attacks in this round reached my taunt tank, killing it in the process.
Round 2:
Finally it is time for Grund to shine. Enraged he does a massive 2x5 damage, takes our the tank and the shield of the offtank in this round. Thankfully the opponents massive enraged melee damage focuses on taking out my back-line, that way Grund has another go in the next round. Before that my magic damage Monster and the thorns damage manage to take out the tank and another Monster of the opponent team.
Round 3:
Enraged Grund taking out 2 more Monsters leaving only a ranged damage dealer in the front position. Since that one can't attack, my victory is secured.
Round 4:
MVM (Most valueable Monster) Grund taking out the last Monster.
Result:
Overall my strategy worked. Thanks to the opponent's focus on my back-line, powerhouse Grund had 3 rounds to decimate the opponents team.
For this match I didn't really need the Thorn-Ability the Mycelic Morphoid gains at level 3 as every Monster gained thorns because of the summoner Mylor anyways. Otherwise it is a pretty powerful ability for a Monster that costs only 1 Mana.
Because of the Thorn-ability Mycelic Morphoid it is one of my favorite 1 Mana Monsters in the game. I wish it was a neutral Monster or at least not an Earth Splinter Monster, since the Earth Splinter already has the thorns ability with the summoner Mylor, making that ability redundant in part of my matches.
