Radiated Brute

LORE

The spreading blight on the continent of Praetoria twisted both the land and its people.
Plants and animals were the first to become corrupted. Fungus sprouted from vegetation and gave them sentience. Animals grew extra limbs, heads, and grew to extraordinary sizes.
Then the people fell ill. Some thought it was from the plague brought about by Doctor Blight. Others thought perhaps it was from the poisonous gases that seeped from the fissures near the volcano.
Whatever it was, those who survived the sickness were changed. They mutated, grew stronger, and were filled with an uncontrollable rage. Some were unable to control that rage and went on murderous rampages. Others fought to maintain their sanity long enough to protect their family, friends, and neighbors from themselves. They fled into the Jade Thicket, where they became as feral as the wild animals of the continent.
The people of Praetoria referred to them as Radiated Brutes.

The main strenght of the Radiated Brute is his Reach ability right at level 1. Together with his large Healthpool (5 Health), the Reach ability makes this Monster a great alternative to be your secondary tank, being played just behind your main tank!

Due the Reach ability, the Radiated Brute is able to attack even when he's on the 2nd place of your team. And, due his Health, he'll be able to do a good job soaking some damage when your 1st Monster dies.

If you're a more advanced player, there are other stronger alternatives to the Radiated Brute, like the Fineas Rage that, besides the Reach ability, has 8 Health and 5 Speed. But the Radiated Brute is currently a free-to-play card, and the best Fire Splinter Monster with this ability; so, if you're a new player, it's your best bet!

Let's analyze my team!

  • My Summoner is Tarsa, the classic Fire Summoner that buffs with +1 Melee Damage and +1 Health to all my Monsters. As I'll be using lots of Melee Monsters, including the Radiated Brute, she's obviously the best option as Summoner!

  • The frontline tank is Living Lava. He's the classic Fire Tank: high Health, high Armor, reasonable Melee Attack, and the Shield ability. Just perfect!

  • My 2nd Monster is Radiated Brute. As I said before, he's a great secondary tank due his Reach ability and his high Health. Also, his attack is being buffed by Tarsa, so he's even stronger!

  • My 3rd Monster is the Lava Launcher. I love this Monster on High-Mana Matches! He's an absolute beast with his incredibly high stats: Armor, Health and Attack! Also, due his Close Reach ability, he can keep attacking while on the 1st row, despite being a Ranged Monster.

  • My 4th Monster is Pyromancer. I didn't had a better Melee monster to play, so I've chosed the Pyromancer due his Blast ability: each of his attacks would, at least, remove Armor from 2 different enemy Monsters. Less Armor meant that my Melee Monsters would be able to hit their Health faster!

  • My 5th and 6th Monsters are the Tenyii Striker and the Uraeus. These two cards combo very well due the Sneak ability, allowing both of them to hit the enemy backline at the same time, dwindling his numbers. Also, they're both Melee Monsters, and are buffed by Tarsa +1 Melee Damage ability. The idea is always to maximize the Summoner's buff!

Good News, Everyone! The battle was a Success!

The match was a close call, as both me and my opponent played similar cards: we both played the same Summoner (Tarsa), the same tank (Living Lava), the same secondary tank (Radiated Brute), and also the Tenyii Striker. They're all good cards, so it's expected for both players play them if they chosed the Fire Splinter!

My team was able to prevail mainly due the Lava Launcher: its huge Health and Armor allowed it to survive several rounds of attacks, while my own team was able to sweep the enemy team one by one!

Also, I had 2 Ranged Monsters that were able to bypass my enemy's Disintegrator debuff. If all my Monsters were Melee, I would be in a bad spot; that's why it's important to try to balance your team across, at least, 2 different attack types (Melee, Ranged and Magic), so you can't be hard-countered!
