Recommended CHEAP Splinterlands Cards for NEW PLAYERS!

(Edited)

Do you want to win more matches and climb through the ranks? Of course you want! Take a look at these CHEAP cards to improve your gameplay!

best_cards_for_newbies.png

All cards on Splinterlands are useful in one way or another. But there are some cards that are incredibly powerful on the lower ranks (from Bronze to Gold) and that can singlehandedly change the outcome of matches.

As a new player, you should focus on acquiring these impactful cards, as they'll increase your win rates and allow you to achieve way higher Ratings!

1) Brighton Bloom

Current Price: 12 USD

Why Purchase This Card?: You'll just ROLFSTOMP your opponent in matches with the "Earthquake" Ruleset.

Brighton Bloom is a Dragon Summoner that gives All friendly Monsters the Flying ability at the start of the battle. This means that, while each of the opponent's Monsters will receive 2 Damage every round of the match, your own Monsters will be safe.

This Summoner will bring you a LOT of easy, easy wins. You can thank me later.

2) Uraeus & Sand Worm

Current Price: 0.75 USD & 1.20 USD

Why Purchase These Cards?: They are cheap Neutral cards that can be played with any Splinter you're wanting to play, adding versatility to your gameplay. Both of them have the Sneak ability, allowing them to hit enemy monsters even if they're not on the first spot of your team.

Uraeus is great to be played on Low-Mana Matches, as he only costs 3 Mana and have a reasonable amount of Health (2) and Armour (1). In the other hand, the Sand Worm is wonderful on High-Mana Matches, as he can deal FIVE damage per turn on the poor Monster that's on the last spot of the enemy team!

image.png

3) Mylor Crowling

Current Price: 29 USD (this will be the most expensive Card in this post, I promise!)

Why Purchase This Card?: Mylor Crowling is usually known as the "NEWBIE KILLER", and there's a good reason for that.

This Summoner gives to all your own Monsters the "Thorn" ability: everytime your Monsters gets a Melee Attack, the attacker also takes 2 Damage.

At least on the lower leagues, it's incredibly difficult to defeat Mylor Crowling, as the matches are full of Melee Monsters and there's little to do in order to counter his ability.

Also, Mylor almost guarantees a win on matches with the "Up Close and Personal" ruleset, as players are only allowed to play Melee Monsters.

image.png

4) Mushroom Seer

Current Price: 18.5 USD

Why Purchase This Card?: You already have your Melee-Counter (Mylor Crowling); now you'll have your Magic-Counter.

Newbies LOVE playing Magic Monsters, as Magic Creatures are usually very easy and strong to play. Mushroom Seer, with his Silence ability, will reduce all the opponent's Magic Damage in -1. Together with him, you'll play the Unicorn Mustang, the 10-Health tank with Void ability (halves any incoming Magic damage) that's currently available for free to all players.

These two cards, together, are almost impossible to be beaten by a Magic-heavy deck.

image.png

5) Onyx Sentinel

Current Price: 3.5 USD

Why Purchase This Card?: He's the best non-melee tank you'll be able to buy for just a few dollars.

On matches with the "Keep Your Distance" Ruleset, you can't play Melee Monsters, and new players usually don't know what to play as a Tank. But here's Onyx Sentinel: he'll be your go Tank when you can't play Melee Monsters. He has a large Healthpool and can withstand a lot of Ranged damage due his Shield ability.

6) Creeping Ooze

Current Price: 3.1 USD

Why Purchase This Card?: Just fit him on your team when there's 1 Mana left and you'll win way more matches than before.

He has the Slow ability, reducing the Speed of all enemy Monsters. Speed is an undervalued but very strong Stats in Splinterlands, as it makes your Monsters attack first and avoid incoming Melee/Ranged damage.

This small -1 Speed debuff against the opponent will increase your win rate by A LOT.

How can you tell if your smartphone is good at playing music?
By the number of gigs it has.

Hey, this is a great list of cards! Mylor and Seer really make it unplayable if you're not playing ranged and Brighton Bloom just autowins those earthquake games.

I like that you suggested Onyx Sentinel the most though - it is such an underrated card that really can win you some rulesets, while being pretty low-cost!

I'm glad to hear that! I tried to share some not-so-common cards (like Uraeus or Onyx Sentinel), but there are cards like Mylor or Brighton Bloom that are just TOO strong to not be recommended!

This post had a very nice response from the community with way more comments than my usual; I'm already planning a second version of it with more unusual recommendations!!!

Mylor Crowling was one of the first cards I bough, and one of the cards that I play the most. He's incredibly strong and, tbh, a little bit overpowered (at least on the lower leagues)

Agreed, It can almost push right to bronze 2, Minus the magic of the blue deck.

I think that he's enough to push you to bronze II or even I, if the player know what he's doing.

Against magic: Unicorn Mustang

Against melee: Mylor Crowling

Against ranged: pray for the Gods hahahaha

That's the idea! I'm definitely not a pro Splinterlands player, but I've been playing the game for the last 6 or 7 months (and I have decades of experience on similar games like Magic the Gathering), so I have a few tricks to share :D

Very interesting perspective. Totally agree with Mylor as a very strong starter summoner :-)
