Recommended NEUTRAL Splinterlands Cards for NEW PLAYERS!

Neutral Cards are a great way to provide flexibility to a new player that doesn't have a huge card collection. Take a look at strong-and-cheap cards to buy and improve your gameplay!

If you're a new Splinterlands player, you probably don't own many cards. You're just playing the game with the free cards and maybe a few others that you opened in a Reward Chest or won in a giveaway.

Neutral cards are a cheap way to improve your game all over the board, as these cards can be used with all Splinters. As they can be played in every match and with every Splinter, they add a lot of flexibility to your gameplay.

1) Battering Ram

Current Price: 0.9 USD

Why Purchase This Card?: the Battering Ram is a very cheap card that have the Opportunity ability, allowing this Monster to attack the enemy Monster with lowest Health each turn.

Opportunity is one of the most powerful abilities on the game, especially on the lower ranks, as the enemy backline is usually full of unprotected Monsters with just 1 Health Point, ready to be one-shotted by the Ram.

2) Uraeus & Sand Worm

Current Price: 0.65 USD & 1.30 USD

Why Purchase These Cards?: I won't be talking again about these two cards as I've wrote about them recently on this post. The tl,dr version is: they're both cheap cards with Sneak ability, allowing them to attack the enemy backline and bypass the opponent's tank.

3) Goblin Mech

Current Price: 1.7 USD

Why Purchase This Card?: Goblin Mech is a very strong Monster, both attack (4 Melee) and defense-wise (5 Armor and 6 Health); and he even has a very rare but useful ability as a bonus: Piercing (If Melee or Ranged attack damage is in excess of the target's Armor, the remainder will damage the target's Health.).

He's VERY mana-hungry, costing a whole 10 Mana to be played. This makes him ideal to be played on Very-High Mana Matches (eg 40+ Mana) or even on the special 99-Mana Matches.

You won't play the Goblin Mech in a lot matches; but in the ones you play, he'll bring you a lot of easy wins!

Pro Gamer Tip: I also love playing the Goblin Mech on Melee Mayhem matches, allowing him to attack while on the backline. Just fit him anywhere in your team and let him deal 4 damage per turn, piercing through eventual Armor!

4) Gelatinous Cube

Current Price: 2.6 USD

Why Purchase This Card?: Due its high Health (8) and the Scavenger ability (gains 1 max health each time any monster dies), the Gelatinous Cube is ideal for matches with damage-dealing rulesets like Earthquake or Noxious Fumes: on these matches, lots of Monsters will be dying on both sides, and the Gelatinous Cube will grow bigger and bigger each turn due its special ability.

The Cube is also a great secondary tank, being played behind the main tank but in front of the rest of the team, allowing him to protect the fragile backline of Ranged or Magic Monsters!

5) Prismatic Energy

Current Price: 8 USD

Why Purchase This Card?: On the lower ranks of Novice, Bronze and Silver, the "Meta Play" is usually playing lots of Magic Monsters. Nowadays, the Forest Summoner Obsidian is the most-played Summoner exactly for this reason.

The** Prismatic Energy is a GREAT card to counter these pesky Magic Monsters**! Not only he has 9 Health, enough to sustain a lot of incoming Magic damage, he also has the powerful Magic Reflect ability, reflecting damage back to the attacker.

Pro Gamer Tip: Prismatic Energy combos VERY well with Thaddius Brood, the Death Summoner that gives -1 Magic Damage to all enemy monsters.

6) Hobgoblin

Current Price: 3.3 USD

Why Purchase This Card?: The Hobgoblin has the incredibly powerful ability Double Strike, allowing him to attack twice each round. Unfortunately, he's a Melee monster, and isn't strong enough to be able to withstand incoming damage when he's on the first position of the team, as he only has 2 Health.

That's why the Hobgoblin is a GREAT card to be played on matches with the Melee Mayhem ruleset: this ruleset allows all Melee monsters to attack every turn. You can** fit the Hobgoblin in your backline, very well defended, allowing him to attack twice per turn and wreck your opponent**!

Pro Gamer Tip: Hobgoblin combos VERY well with Tarsa, the Fire Summoner that gives +1 Melee Attack. With Tarsa, the Monster can deal 4 damage per turn! An absolute beast costing only 5 Mana!
