Changing Up The Meta?!!

Now that we've gotten a proper taste of these new cards with their new abilities. Lets try and speculate about what changes to the meta these new abilities will bring...

What we have so far:

New cards brings new changes, but what does that mean?

To be honest, I haven't seen anyone really utilizing these new abilities in regular play. As of right now there just aren't many situations where the cards with these abilities are the best choice.

But as mentioned here:

The ranked system will be changing. We can already see some similarities in the newer cards to the older cards that will no longer be available in the Modern Ranked Format. For example, lots of people are calling Pelacore Mercenary the next Flesh Golem.

And I've noticed that Exploding Rats are akin to the Exploding Dwarf. Why such similarities? Well it could be that this is a way to balance the old cards without changing the older cards. Instead of nerfing a card like Flesh Golem outright, they can introduce a new card with some obvious shortcomings (such as level 6 for heal instead of level 3) and eliminate Flesh Golem from the modern format which is no doubt geared towards newer players. This of course is just speculation, but it makes sense.

It's odd. I definitely see the utility there for these new abilities, but they aren't being utilized much right now. Lets take a look at Venari Heatsmith, which is the only new card with the Amplify ability. It however doesn't unlock until level 6. Regardless of when it unlocks though the irony is that the Fire splinter has almost no Magic Reflect, Return Fire, or Thorn abilities! The only Fire cards that do are high leveled or high rarity cards. So this specific card has almost no use for day to day Splinterlands folk. Knowing this, should we assume that some of the newer Fire cards will have these abilities? If so this cards value will virtually rocket launch. Talk about big changes to the meta.

It's hard to determine what changes are coming to the meta, but obviously there are changes coming. So much is changing so fast. I suspect these newly released cards will become cornerstones in their own right for their respective splinters.
